I agree with Sakeni on this one, i hope none of the houses in Skanze compound in Lusaka or any other police or military institutional houses have been sold in the same way, if they have been sold, then the same should apply. I have always not agreed with this move, its like selling teachers’ houses surrounding the school, where do the teachers live then? And who lives in schools? strangers? no

2. Please leave the poor pipo alone… what shall they do with that refund..?? Please twapapata just build new houses if there is a need.. I will fast over that.

4. Reversal of sale of houses needs to be revisited in all starategical places of employment. Immigration dept is just one of them. Police, army, customs officers in border areas and others housed by the state can only be given loans to buy or build houses. This political move started by Chiluba was a defective policy that has created problems to govt of the day. Due to lack of education Chiluba was giving examples of UK having sold houses to sitting tenants. My way, little did he know that offers were made with mortgages to purchase and remain paying for houses the rest of your life. Is this hapenning in Zambia? Where is the money realised fro the sale to rebuild more houses?—Its a defective policy for Zambian environment.

7. ha ha ha! Chiluba and RB tactics! I was waiting for the day one would wake up to reality. The same goes for council houses, mine houses etc.. Man, you should go to Chingola South, the once apamwamba suburb of Chingola before Riverside came into being, it’s a sorry site!!! The place has been turned in single quarters, everywhere. Three bedroom homes have three tenants, each with his own bedroom, yaba!!! The Landlords have found a smallholding outside town (i.e they have gone bck to the land anyway!). Graduates that come to the town do not have a place to stay because there are no institutional houses. They end up renting a bedroom because that’s all they can get and they are expected to be productive…..wina aza lila!

10. SAKENI you criminal. PF has been reposessing houses since September last year!
    Houses sold to tenants of over 10 years have been reposessed suddenly and today you want to announce that you are reposessing.
    Kindly take us seriously and say you’ve been reposessing.

11. The reposessing of houses is retrogressive. The state should be biuilding new ones not crying over those built 80 years ago. Most of those old structures need to be demolished anyway.

13. I also agree with #4 and 12. Any strategically placed house should be repossessed. yes more houses should be built but that shouldn’t stop the repossessing of the strategic ones. A house can be old but it can be refurbished or even demolished and in it’s place build a new one. the important thing here is the strategic positioning e.g. a teacher’s house in the school premises should never be sold.

Houses within hospital grounds (those formerly owned by zccm) are all sold! the compounds are now overpupolated and most of these were single quarters they now house extended families… so sad these houses should never have been sold! thats why our nurses and doctors are so frustrated, you work at Sinozam Hospital in Nkana West kitwe but the only nearest affordable accomodation you can find is in Luangwa township! no motivation…

17. Is it true that even UNZA sold its houses in Handsworth Court and in Canada Court? I learn that, as aresult, some UNZA lecturers now live in shacks in Mtendere and Kalingalinga. What a situation!

19. Just build houses reposessing is not a solution at all bcos there were already sold and UKWA was part of MMD dont say bcos it was MMD use your brains to get a solution thats why we need young generation and educated ones to be in government bcos only brains can find solution

20. May be repossession is a strong and wrong word. How about buying back! The tenants were innocent, they did no wrong. They simply accepted the offer to buy the house, it was a policy of the govt at the time. There was a willing buyer and a willing seller.
