The United Party for National Development (UPND) has adopted Howard Sikuwela as its parliamentary candidate for the forthcoming Livingstone parliamentary by- election.
Revered Sikulwela is former principal of David Livingstone College of Education (DALICE) and losing independent candidate in the September 20th general elections.
Efforts to get Patriotic Front (PF) on its adopted candidate for the same constituency failed as Southern Province chairperson Josephs Akafumba’s mobile phone went unanswered.
UPND Livingstone district spokesperson Neto Halwabala confirmed the development in an interview in Livingstone that his party settled for Revered Sikulwela from the eight candidates who had applied for adoption.
Some of the candidates who applied are losing UPND parliamentary candidate in last’s parliamentary elections Fredrick Chuunga, Cuthbert Sibajene and former Livingstone town clerk George Kalenga.
Mr Halwabala said UPND was confident that they would scoop the Livingstone by-election because it is strong in the district.
“The chances that will win the Livingstone by-election are high because we are deep rooted in Livingstone,” he said.
He also said the opposition political party have also adopted Alex Wilo and Ziwa Ziwa as its candidates for Akapewla and Musi-oa-tunya wards respectively.
Mr Halwabala explained that the UPND-MMD alliance is working well so far.
And MMD deputy provincial secretary Shabby Mushaukwa said the MMD in the district would rally behind the UPND candidate to ensure that the opposition scoops the Livingstone seat.
Mr Mushaukwa said the opposition was positive of winning all the three parliamentary and local government by elections set for 5th July,2012.
That is the candidate you should have adopted in the 20th September 2011 elections. You have bowed down to the people’s demand this time around. Good luck.
Reverend, former Principal and a parent he is more than qualified compared to any PF who will come forth.
Iwe Akafumba is a qualified lawyer. Be careful don’t think that PF have no think tanks
Winter Kabimba is also a qualified lawyer.
He is a lawyer worse than Kabimba . . . .imagine what a useless chap
This is the way, thumbs up UPND & now our focus should change to VISION 2016, HH in State house.
& i suggest that all presidential candites should go for mental test
Come 2016 PF will be history in Zambia.
UPND BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, GO TO HELL!
go hang u f00l
So Bantustan Party still exists?
You are a Kolwestan being used by Fred Mmembe in Corruption. Bemba Kolwestans are all thieves.
1,2, & 3 LISTEN YOUR HH WILL NEVER RULE THIS COUNTRY BECAUSE HE IS RUNNING A TONGA PARTY NOT A NATIONAL ONE.
Your f00l Satan is running a tribal and nepotistic PF but he is in State House, you tribalist!
Right own, @chipucesu
William banda is on door to door campaign
Number 5 IF you dont have constructive opinion keep quite,Idol mind
Tonga tribal party still wasting their breath,,, these guys have
Been saying HH will be in plot1 for past 3 elections he has been rejected by the Zambians that matter ,,,, give it and watch the masters rule
What do you have to say about the current Bemba PF tribal government?
It is a well know fact that the tribal president will never rule zed. why waste time on this issue?
But we have a tribalist Sata in State House anyway! What are you smoking? Is it the same sh!t like your man?
HAKAIVOTELLA HEKA
Ba zed tamumfwa mukaleka umunenu Hakaivotela humwine akaikulike.yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.mwansekesha.
“It’s our turn to eat” syndrome purveyors sould be kicked out of governement sooner than 2016! They keep accusing others of practising tribal politics when they’re the worst tibalists! Abash thieving monkeys with their “wakumwesu” ideaology! One Zambia, One Natoin!
some tongas are fools you have kept on voting for upnd for years and years but what development have they brought in s /province were they are running all the councils galamukani haisha change don’t vote tribal lines but vote on principles mwefipuba mwe.
Southern Province is more developed than northern province worst still muchinga province
Heeeee wapesha mune.
The issue of tonga party is mainly dominated by BEMBA’S, therefore some of us who are neither bemba nor tonga will never vote for tribalists who happen to be Bemba’s!!
wechipubaweeeee.
TOMBA PARTY VERY USELESS…..COW DUNG… AM MMD BUT WILL VOTE FOR PF ,
If the UPND iz still around then the ideal candidate to adopt for Livingstone would be that young and vibrant Hakainde Hichilema so that he starts learning ideaz about political leadership.
Sata is Zambia’s first fully fledged tribalist president. And the scum who support him do so on tribal lines. In the whole of sadc Sata is today known as a clown because of his unpresidential behaviour. Only people who share his cultural background can take him seriously. Sata is a clown and tribalist. There is no running away from muchinga tribalist.
UUleculafye nomutimaaaaaa.
Its only in educated zambians who are shameless tribal debators instead of shinning on how to debate issues wheather tonga or bemba if u are dull u remain dull debate issues ise kwasu kuliye apuba aso
pf is mopping this time around..too much hatred n insults form their unlearned cadres..eish..
Livingstone is a multi-culture City, therefore there is no guarantee that either the PF or UPND will win it. Statics favours the PF because they came second to MMD in last year’s general & Parla elections.
This is the down fall for upnd as they have now associated themselves with mmd (plunderers). Gen Miyanda will be our next president….come 2016.
This is a useless strategy. If the UPND doesn’t field candidates in places it’s less popular, then how is it going to gain ground? This same strategy worked against the PF and ULP. Why can’t each party stand on its feet? If they need to rely on other parties to win them seats then let them merge. Considering the greed of our politicians, any serious political party can not enter into any electoral pact with another. If this had happened between the PF and UPND, there could’ve been chaos by now. Each could’ve been claiming credit for the victory. Similarly, how does the UPND and MMD plan to work together? Hasn’t the UPND learned any lessons from their failed alliances with FDD, UNIP, PF, etc? If they haven’t then how long will they spend learning political lessons?
Livingstone is not a deminated by Tongas, so when PF looses they should just concede defeat. My ADVISE to pf is that let them just go and campaign instead of talking abt tribes all the time.fact PF is the worst bemba tribal party in Zambia. I fear for our children whose blood is mixed.!!!
No doubt Upnd will scoop the seat because it is now Mmd,upnd and independent votes put together plus tonga&barotse… yaba wapya munzi!.
@5 and 7, you know why HH will never be President in Zambia?? Its because idio.t.s like yourselves and Sata are in the majority in our country. The sooner we wake up the better. How else can one describe people who blindly supported one famously known as childish and a clown in the entire region???
Ichikopo imbwaaaaaa you are.
Lozi but voting for Sataand PF. No tribal thinking but wenting and will still go for someone who can die for the poor majority. Lets see how MMD and UNPD presidents agree to disagree. Fyoooooo! whistle yalila! The pact is going in the mad waters soon. MMD is not just ready to campaign yet not in any pact.
My advise to die hard UPND supporters is keep dreaming,HH will NEVER rule Zambia with his Tonga party.Upnd is only in southern province and to rule Zambia HH must start making efforts to penetrate other areas.Upnd is very tribal! Its stinks tribalism and HH will NEVER rule Zambia because of his attitude towards other tribes. The man is childish and selfish!
And what is UKWA’s attitude towards other tribes??? I can see one hanging themselves when reality dawns.
WE HAVE STOPPED DEBATING TRIBES WE ARE NOW ACTING. MWANYA COME L/STONE LITMUS TEST.
Livingstone is the is one of the, if not the most, cosmopolitan towns in Zambia and people there tend to vote with their heads and not with their stomachs as is the case in most parts of Zambia. Neither PF nor UPND is 100% of carrying the day on election day.
