Emirates, one of the world’s fastest growing airlines, has recently moved their Lusaka Town office to a new, and more centrally location.

The new high-tech office was inaugurated by Emirates’ Senior Vice President Commercial Operations Africa, Jean Luc Grillet in a VIP ceremony that was also attended by dignitaries and members of the travel industry.

Covering 512 square metres, the new sales outlet features seven customer service counters dedicated to flight bookings, Emirates Holidays’ reservations and general customer enquiries.

“The opening of our Lusaka sales office comes less than six months after we launched our flights from Lusaka to Dubai. This is a testament to the confidence that Emirates has in the growth of Zambia’s economy,” said Jean Luc Grillet, Emirates’ Senior Vice President Commercial Operations Africa.

Extending Emirates’ award-winning standards of service to the pre-flight experience, the flagship outlet introduces a one-stop ‘Travel Hub’ addressing the needs of Emirates’ business and leisure travellers, premium passengers, frequent-flyer members and potential holiday-makers.

A team of dedicated local staff, overseen by Country Manager Khalid Hassan, is on hand to provide advice, assist with bookings and queries, and facilitate smooth payment for tickets.

“As one of the world’s most lauded airlines, Emirates enjoys a well-established reputation for superior customer service both in the air and on the ground. The new office will enable us to provide our valued customers in Lusaka with the high standards of service, and superior product and facilities that they have come to expect from Emirates,” Mr Grillet added.

The new office is located on the 2nd floor of Acacia Park, Thabo Mbeki Road, and is within easy reach of the commercial centres in Lusaka.

Emirates launched its five-times-a-week service to Lusaka and Harare on 1st February this year. To date, the airline has carried over 43,000 passengers on the route.

The Dubai-Lusaka-Harare service is operated by an A330-200 aircraft in a three-class configuration, offering 12 luxurious First Class seats, 42 seats in Business Class and generous space for 183 passengers in Economy Class. EK 713 departs Dubai at 0925hrs, arriving in Lusaka 1435hrs. The service departs Lusaka at 1620hrs, arriving in Harare at 1720. The return flight will leave Harare at 1850hrs, arriving Lusaka at 1950hrs. It departs Lusaka at 2125hrs and lands in Dubai at 0640hrs the next day.

With a fleet of 176 aircraft and already the largest Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 operator in the world, Emirates currently flies to 125 destinations in 74 countries. With an order for 50 new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft placed at the Dubai Airshow, Emirates now has 227 aircraft on order, worth over US$62 billion at list prices.

Emirates currently serves 21 passenger and cargo destinations across the African continent. Over the next five months, the airline will launch a further four destinations including Erbil, Washington, Adelaide and Lyon.

  1. Shukran….I just wonder why MMD refused to give land to Maktoob to start building hotels and complex. Sata must reciprocate by renovating the urine smelling KK airport.

  2. thanx ba Emirates, atlist mo flights 2 zed creating a wide choice range…but ba LT, who is on the centre amongst the 4? shud we gues from the names?

  3. I hope theres no 12 to 24 hour waits when connecting via dubai because those waits in the desert heat are torture . If you are going to travel using emirates you need to watch out for the rude incompetent dubai airport immigration and their 4 hour long queues

    • What are you talking about wait in the desert heat? The airport is freezing cold with all those massive aircons blasting air into it, also the queues are processed very quickly compared to other places.

  4. ya, ok. just mention in the photo, the other two in uniform are non-existent. yeah, may be later wen they mature, cheers reporters

  5. They have a good fare structure, that’s why they are already pulling so many passengers. Good competition to Kenya airways, especially on the Dubai route.

  6. EMIRATES ANG KLM FLIGHTS SERVICE ARE MUCH BETTER THAN BRITISH AIRWAYS ,KENYA AIRWAYS AND ETHIOPEAN.THE PF GOVT MUST BE COMMANDED FOR BRINGING ZAMBIA NEARER TO EUROPE AND UAE.THE GOVT MUST NOW COMPLETLY OVERHAUL THE K.K. INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AND BRING IT TO INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS. THESE 2 AIRLINES HAS BROUGHT STIFF COMPETITION AMONGST OTHER AIRLINES CURRENTLY OPERATING IN ZAMBIA

    • Iwe! Emirate came here on their own accord to do business nothing about PF here, you sound like they’re doing us favor. Why politic in everything?

  7. The growing competition for zambia’s air market is good but we’re still far off from turning Lusaka into a transportation hub.Thats a tough competing against Nairobi,Jo’burg and Addis that are still miles ahead in terms of aircraft movements, passenger numbers, updated facilities and name recognition.

    • Who gives you the right to pass judgement on other people’s looks? Those women are beautiful, perhaps you need to have your eyesight checked!

  8. #7 I agree with you. That is why I like uncle Bob that against all olds, his Zim airways is starting to come back to life again. You can’t have a country with no national airline. If Malawi can have its airline, why not Zambia? #10 you’re a fool and and an insult to our Zambian women. Leave our beautiful Zambian women alone. Shame on you.

  9. Why not just take a picture of the two men? You include the ladies and not discuss them? Are they just some work of art?

  10. Well done Emirates Increase the flights and bring down your fares, Because of the demand which Emirates Airlines did not expect on the Zambian Route, They are overwhelmed and are charging more for Lusaka 7hours flight route, than Johannesburg. That’s not what we brought you for and don’t take advantage of Zambia not having a national carrier. Qatar Airways is also knocking on our doors so watch out.

  11. There’s no urgent need have a national carrier in my opinion. Lets just concentrate on upgrading infrastructure and marketing the country, as you can see these airlines already play a part in marketing buy offering tourist packages. This is a cut-throat industry with a thin line between success and failure. Do we honestly think Zambia Airways can compete with these guys, many airlines today are barely making a profit.

Which bring me the proposed multi-million dollar rehabilitation of KK airport by the Turkish guys. This to me was a  brilliant, was it a case of shooting down everything left behind by  the previous admin or was there corruption involved?

  12. we need a strong local airline whether private, government or private-public partnership that would service the regional routes which can Zambia the third connection hub which is natural becoz we are centrally located. This will not alone boost tourism but also other areas such as health as we develop health facilities that will make Zambia the centre of excellence. This is in line with government’s move of changing the health sector from a social to economic sector.

  13.  UP- GRADE KK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, PLEASE MY GOVERNMENT!! AND GET ALL INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES TO ADOPT KK LOGO ON THEIR INTERNET BOOKING FORMS. ESPECIALLY THOSE OPERATING IN THE WEST; BA , …

  14. My husband and i travelled from lusaka to dubai on EMIRATES  it was a nightmare the whole crew at lusaka airport need retraining, they were so unprofessional. It was so painfull to see them struggle to check our luggage because it was 1 pound overweight.:((

  15. You know you have to pay for overweight luggage anywhere in the world on any airline. You know it’s a safety issue. So why are you complaining?

  16. Kachigamba, You are wrong to attribute this to PF. Banda signed for emirates, KLM, Egypt air and turkey airlines.

  17. slumdog, only dodgy looking characters like you are made to endure that wait. What heat are you talking about by the way? Most of us are out from plane to car in less than 30 mins, including that long walk. Just admit, you are just kuliboneshaing.

  18. when emirates came to zambia, it was a season of joy. but it is becoming so disappointing in terms customer services and tickecting
