Political party cadres have been warned against wearing their regalia during this year’s Mutomobko traditional ceremony of Mwata Kazembe of the Lunda people in Kawambwa district.
This is in an effort to avoid confusion during the Mutombkoko ceremony.
Reliable sources told ZANIS in Mwansabombwe that the resolution to banning cadres from wearing their political party materials was arrived at during the meeting held at the arena last Friday.
The sources, who declined to be named, noted that in the past some cadres had brought confusion during the ceremony because of the attire they had worn such as T-shirts, caps and Chitenge materials displaying their party symbols.
They said the Mutomboko traditional ceremony is not for politics but culture which must be respected.
They added for the enhancement of the Lunda culture and love among all the people, political cadres should just wear their own clothes during the ceremony to avoid the same confusion.
The sources also revealed that anyone who will be found in the political attire whether will risk being punished or fined over K50, 000.00 according to the Lunda tradition.
Meanwhile, Kawambwa District Commissioner, Ivo Mpasa has urged all heads of government departments in the district to work together and participate fully during this year’s Mutomboko traditional ceremony.
Mr Mpasa made the call in Kawambwa last Friday when he addressed heads of government departments in his office.
He said his office alone could not make the ceremony successful unless district government officials plan together and work as a team.
The Mutomboko traditional ceremony of the Lunda people is scheduled to take place in Mwansabombwe this Saturday, July 28, 2012.

Traditional ceremonies transcend partisan lines and banning the wearing of political party attire is not only aimed at avoiding confusion but depoliticising and removal of domineering effect of our traditional heritage particularly by the ruling party.

Long overdue but I smell a rotten rat in this report.I think Mwata Kazembe is still bitter for the loss of his candidate Criticals Mwansa (MMD) to Rodgers Mwewa (PF).Its high time chiefs stopped being partisan especially Litunga,Mwata Kazembe,Chiti Mukulu,Mpezeni,Gawa Undi,Mukuni just to mention a few.But with the current political landscape I really doubt if they can stop.

What law guides you to make such pronouncements, just like what others have said this is because my cousin Mwanta is still MMD, that’s why this barn. It’s a free world I will wear my PF shirt and see who is going to touch me. Mwansabombwe is my village and my place and I am free before the law to wear any thing I like. Since when did politics not allowed at Mutomboko, just yesterday you where campaigning during Mutomboko for MMD. You can not fool us.
