The ministry of information has advised the media stop avoid giving space to politicians whose sole aim is character assassination.

Information and Broadcasting Permanent Secretary Amos Malupenga has observed that name calling by politicians is sometimes promoted by the media by giving space to such politicians.

He says the media should always aim at promoting national unity by championing a national agenda.

Mr. Malupenga was speaking when he officially opened a workshop on capacity building on economic reporting for journalists.

The workshop has been organized by MISA Zambia in conjunction with the Zambia institute for policy analysis and research.

And Mr. Malupenga notes that it’s important for the media to be well educated and informed because a well informed media helps to inform the citizenry better.

  1. That you did not do when you were at Post. Now you are coming to your senses of being a good journalist.
How did you enjoy your “kansato” with Kabimba on Masebo? Who went in first? Hope it was you coz I cant go in after my friend “apowa” first

    • Sata should ask Luther King Jr, Mandela, Ghandi, even his OWN KK, the power of peaceful resistance. Zambia’s reservoir of progressive minds bigger than silencing one person of group.Old trick won’t work in a democracy, too old fashioned!!…PF is putting servicemen in un necessary bad taste when governments change. Why do these govts continue to use the same old FAILED strategies, failed methods, failed tactics and approaches to silence citizens and progressive minds? It’s too early for PF to bring this UGLY HEAD of fear in the country. Such went with UNIP&Chiluba! Now we know, Sata was the master-minder of Chiluba’s black mamba, planting incriminating evidence to imprison innocent unarmed citizens ,perceived political competitors. This is evil, old fashioned politics is back.

  2. We want to see the media that aims at building the nation not destroying it. the media always tries to poke politicians so they can make business or be favoured by the government of the day. We want to see the media that stands for truth and feeds the nation with the right information.

  3. Good advise Mr Malupenga, for the first time ever since you were appointed Information and Broadcasting Permanent Secretary I agree with you. I hope the media chiefs will follow your advise, we are tired of listening to the character assassination being promoted by senior ministers like GBM and Sekani.

  4. Another F**L opening his stinky mouth. Start with advising you retard of a boss in Sakeni. Then move to the fat fart from defence. Then you will be on course, not this wild goose chase.

  5. There’s a story of the ghost being very white while his friend the wild cat having spots. The ghost was teasing the wild cat of being spotty and the other guy was busy teasing the ghost for being too white. Ba Malupenga, how come you’ve become too white like the ghost?

  6. SORRY BA PS, THE MEDIA IS A MIRROR.STUDY MORE SIR.IF THE KWA AND KWEs SHALL FIGHT THE NATION NEEDS TO KNOW THE WHO,WHERE ,WHEN AND HOWs OF THE STORIES.THEN THE POPULACE WILL JUDGE WHO IS TELLING HALF THE TRUETH.OR BETTER STILL WHO TOLD ALOT OF LIES LAST YEAR AND TODAY HE WANTS THE TRUETH TO BE TOLD AND WHY.

  7. Let the individual media outlets decide on their own. As a nation we will make an informed decision as to what is worth spending time on. We want a media that is free but responsible
Anyone who feels violated by certain publications in the media can seek redress from the courts.

    • Well said brother. Leave the independence of the media to chart its path Amos. Just ensure they abide like the rest of the world to media ethics.

  8. “He says the media should always aim at promoting national unity by championing a national agenda.”

Methinks tis the government’s job to do that :)

  9. Ma rubbish Malupenga. Where was this wisdom; you published all the unpalatable speeches from Sata when you were at the post and now you think you can teach Zambians what is right. The post is everyday assassinating HH and NM, instruct them to stop.

  10. This is what you should have been saying when the post was insulting everyone in the former government. In fact the culture of insults started with PF and the post. It was never there before. I hope everyone is now learning that what goes round indeed comes round.

  11. Very true A Phiri The government should focus on uniting a nation not the media. The media just reports on whats happening. However the Zambian media is very biased and always adds fake opinions to a news story. You need to be well educated not to be a victim of their agendas. They all have agendas. The Post editor never told us that he was driven not by the need to inform but the need to oppose the govt of the day. He wanted a role as Kingmaker and now he has got it. And the Post has gone to sleep.

  12. I like this. He should start with CNP and his disciples in the PamaFi Party. They are the worst culprits who do not need any coverage at all. Turn coats or what. This is the same fool who was busy unleashing unpalatable on RB and Levy brewed by CNP. Ndipo people can change like hooligans and overnight for that matter. This is the last chap who can teach us about good language. I end here!

  13. Start with State house swearing in ceremonies. Just tell us which Northerners have been employed and don’t report Ukwa’s rabid attacks on sane Zambians

  14. With such KK in his days would say “Stupid *****”. How can a former Managing Director of a private media paper say that? Drunk with power. These are the people who make politics a dirty game wjhen politics should be a noble thing of providing service to the masses. Lets hope Mmembe does not fist on your backside.

  15. Excellent issues altogether, you simply gained brand new|a new} reader. What may you suggest in regards to your submit that you simply made some days ago? Any certain?
