ZESCO Managing Director,Cyprian Chitundu has assured the people of Western Province that the power utility company is working at restoring supply to the area .

Some parts of the Province are experiencing erratic power supply after a vandalised pylon fell.

Speaking after an on the spot check of a vandalised pylon at Kalobolelwa in Sesheke district, Mr. Chitundu said the company is on the ground to erect a temporal line to restore power within 24 hours to Senanga,Mongu,Kaoma and many other parts of the province.

Flanked by his management team, Mr Chitundu revealed that pylon number 1216 was cut from the base although nothing was stolen from it making the case unique.

Western Province other than Sesheke district has had no hydro electricity since Saturday morning when the pylon was cut from the base by some unknown people.

  1. Its not only western province being subjected to erratic and substandard power supply but the entire country.
You must do more than just promises

  2. Things can be this bad. Allow to speculate and insinuate that this is the work of people that want to inflame tribalism and the sad cessation sentiments.

  3. Total failure Cyprian. Others more competent were fired just bacause you are part of the forest. unfortunatlely for you incompetence in engineering management shows itself easily.

  4. I do not know why ZESCO still rely on thermal powered generators from desel and Hydro electricity for western province when they can easily harvest cleaner solar energy from plentiful sunshine. There are no big commercial users there, its mostly domestic usage.

  5. dnt tok abt tribalism,l am ushi n l actualy saw de pole wic ws tempered,it is jst sm 3km frm where l am.De guys r dng evrythng posibo 2 restore power

  6. @Jay Jay, western province is not powered on thermal generated electricity. They are connected to the national grid. It is N/western province that has some districts on thermal.

  7. MR CHITUNDU SIR, DID YOU KNOW ALSO ABOUT SOLAR FARMS? SOLAR FARMS CAN POWER SOME OF THESE SMALLER TOWNS. DID YOU ALSO KNOW THAT LUAPULA PROVINCE HAS HUGE RIVERS ON WHICH A HUGE HYDRO DAM CAN BE BUILT TO SOLVE COMPLETELY ELECTRICITY POWER BLUES IN ZAMBIA AND EVEN REMAIN WITH PLENTY FOR EXPORT?

  8. Strange, why the MD has to go all the way to Sesheke to mention one pylon; there is more to it. Nothing was stolen, are we sure it was not ZESCO who cut the pylon?

  9. One pylon and the whole (almost) province has no power for 3 days. This is utter incompetence by ZESCO. The government needs to advertise the position of MD so that they can employ competent people rather than people who suck up to the politicians.

  10. Do you guys ever have anything good to say? Even a clear cut case of vandalism you want to blame the ZESCO MD just becuase his name sounds Bemba and was appointed by PF. Why not try to blame the vehicle manufacturers for all the recent road accidents???

  11. Zesco must make good use of solar power in some parts of the country like the current Western Province and other parts of Zambia.

Solar technology is becoming cheaper and more advanced by the day.

It can be a useful alternative.
