The Movement for Multi party Democracy (MMD) has hailed the Patriotic Front (PF) leadership in Mufumbwe for choosing Elliot Kamwendo at District, Constituency and Provincial levels as their candidate ahead of the Mufumbwe by election.
National Youth Secretary Tobias Kafumukache said that the action was good as it has taught former Deputy Minister of Local Government Stephen Masumba a lesson.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. Kafumukache also cautioned Members of Parliament (MPs) that cause unnecessary by-elections to take a leaf from what has happened to Mr. Masumba.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kafumukache says the MMD youth leadership supports the action taken by Mwandi Member of Parliament Michael Kaingu who tore President Michale Sata’s speech at parliament.
He said the action was entirely appropriate and deserves support by all well meaning Zambians as it has shown bravery and heroism and that the youths feel that the act was honourable adding that a message was sent.
The MMD National Youth Secretary further said that the youths in the MMD feel that Mr. Kaingu was acting as an ambassador for the ordinary Zambians alleging that the document lacked merit and did not address the issues to do with the health sector and the needs of unemployed youths in the country.
He stated that the technocrats who drafted the speech did a shallow input as they did not address the concerns of the youths.
Mr. Kafumukache observed that the PF has remained silent on various issues affecting the nation which include among others the windfall tax on the mines and oil procurement for the country.
He, however, expressed concern over the high number road traffic accidents saying that they have a ripple effect on the health system and the economy of the country.
He also cited gender based violence which is also on the increase as some of the issues that need to be addressed with vigour.
Mr. Kafumukache has since called on government to spearhead favourable measures and policies aimed at improving the living standards of the people.

I pity that young man Masumba, now he’s neither Deputy Minister nor MP. He has lost both. He got too excited for nothing. Other MPs should learn a lesson. People in Mufumbwe voted for MMD because they did not want to be associated with Sata who once called the people of northwestern province buttocks.
The ex-honourable will now have enough time to sort out his certificate issue in court.
It is a lesson learnt for him. This Masumba is just a crook who should not have been voted as an MP in the visit place. This is a guy who was pausing around as a bookkeeper or an accounts technician with a diploma in accounts when he knew too well that he has not finished the course. These are people we do not need in the corridors of power because they are a danger. He even says he is an Accountant. If PF are serious let them discard this misfit and parliament to chase him up for the car loan and the over K80 million bill he accumulated entertaining prostitutes at parliament motel.

whoever said that what KAINGU is bravery should not complain on youths empowerment because any meaningful development starts from GRASSROOTS wayup,so what did the MMD (kaingu)did for the youths when he was a minister?realitically speaking govt can not create employment for all the youths in zambia but they do (with parliament)enact laws which are business friendly both for domestic and foreign investors.ONE PRACTICAL APPROACH IS TO GIVE GRANTS TO YOUTHS thru church structures which are none partisan,NOT what MMD did using CEEC which was giving loans to MPS,directors or pipo earning income already.so any development should start from DOWN WAY UP,which inturn will expand the middle class and move some folks in the who are current in the middle class to the ELITE GROUP.what do the mps do?

Please take your ignorance ukoo! If tearing a useless piece of paper is a criminal matter in your world, I’m sorry to be the one to tell you that parliament has it’s own rules and what Kaingu did does not constitute a criminal activity at all. Further, acts committed in parliament cannot be brought before the courts of law unless one’s parliamentary privilage as an MP is waived and even if this was done, only Sata would lose because the speech Kaingu tore, to pieces, is not what Sata read in parliament. Sata went digressed from that speech and replaced it with stupid jokes and vernomous pronouncements against the opposition. If Kaingu was arresrted and taken to court, it will be Sata who will be undressed, well if he is dressed now!

OK, we are watching has drama in Zambia continues. By the way , the MMD youths have missed it. The speech I read was so good and inspiring unless I red a different speech.  The dull action by Kaingu is characteristic of failures like him. No normal person can support such a barbaric act.Â

I am amazed at how easily one can change political ideologies in Africa and especially Zambia. Or is it an indication that there are no ideologies to shape people views of the world? How can one person who was a capitalist change their views overnight and become a socialist? I see a state of shallow reflection on the political philosophy of the nation. Such poverty of ideas has breed the current crop of leaders. These were the same people who were in MMD and are now condemning the past of which they were a part.Essentially, Zambia can be broken down into three political taxonomies. The social-nationalist which is UNIP; the capitalist-democrats, the MMD and hybrids whose ideologies are a mix of the two. The PF falls into this third one.
They had no ideologies to begin with,their “parties” manifestos are almost similar and their only reason for being in a party is to get elected.Thats the reason why its only emerging now that Sata had no plans when he got to plot 1.Many others are just like him.
Most of the people professing to be belong to these parties don’t even know if their values are aligned to the ideology of the party. They have no time to think about this. Actually, a good number of people in Africa are almost brain dead because of this lack of philosophical reflection. Contradicting world views are held in the same mind without any resulting cognitive dissonance. This is why one politician can switch parties and no one even questions what is happening. How can one explain the warm welcome given to William Band by the UPND? Or Masumba by the PF?
I find it funny when someone says “it shows maturity…”. I think the statement is an insult to those who you are referring to. Were they immature before the decision? Who gives you the moral / intellectual high ground to be condescending towards anyone?

I am one of those people who had started to look at MMD as a truly re-branded party. But  with such support for cowardly acts as the tearing of the speech, I am afraid me and my friends have changed our minds. Why can’t one just debate the speech by pointing out at its deficiencies. Kaingu didn’t have anything against the speech but just wanted to look a ‘hero’ which he is not. By the way, what could happen if all MMD members tore the speech, and if every official thing is torn to express disagreement with it?  M.M.D you are losing it. Â
Truly, the rejection of Masumba is well thought. It shows bravery and maturity. This is because Masumba could have cost the P.F dearly. What with those dance-hall pictures and the certificate issue? If the electorates were shown those pictures of their representative, would they have voted for him?
