Open Letter to the Inspector General -Police officers not reporting for work but getting paid

Inspector General of Police Stella Libongani
Inspector General of Police Stella Libongani

I wish to express my displeasure at the way the Chilanga police station is being manned by the Officer in Charge. First of all he has no respect from his officers and staff. The wife is in charge of the station. Officers who have complained are channelled through the wife who has been running the station for sometime now. She is untouchable because she is related to higher people at Headquarters.

Some officers hardly report for work because they are paid full monthly salaries while skeleton staff are left to man the station. The officer in charge was transferred some time last month just to be told he spoke to higher authorities at Headquarters and he is not going anywhere.

Can the IG investigate this please as I am sick and tried of this type of behaviours in our police force. The President wants to see a working police office and then you see people like him hindering his progress. If he is tried please retire, there are a lot of junior who want to want in the police force.

I will not stop here until I see a change on that station and I am always mentoring the situation. If the IG needs more information I am happy to provide.

  1. Is the wife a police officer at the same station as well? If she is, then what rank and is she a 2IC? If she is not then how does a civilian control a police station? Don`t tell me the Zambian police is so rotten.

  2. Ok but Ichisungu man, you should have written in you language.

We hope the ba pamwamba guys will look into this complaint.

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.

  3. You have every right to complain the Zambia Police is there to serve and protect you….you should have sent an email to State House, UNDP, MMD and some NGOs instead of the IG’s office.

    • I think.. Only if the letter of complaint is ignored by IG… That is the time when s/he inform those parties you mentioned.

  4. “Some officers hardly report for work because they are paid full monthly salaries while skeleton staff are left to man the station. ” Ok…this part I didn’t get at all!!:-?

    • It means they get full monthly salaries despite of not reporting for work daily… In this story he said wife is in charge.. lack of responsibility and respect are other insues raised.

  5. WTF, you dont know Ms Suba very well. I as her former personal secretary know how hard working this lady was and undoubtedly is. Those workers who have rejected her are lazy and untidy people. I worked for this intelligent woman for over 3 years. She is the most hard working Town Clerk I have ever known in this country. She changed the face of Livingstone for the better, ask anyone who was there when she was TC. So please, give her a benefit of doubt. Do some investigations, you will prove me right.

    I thank you

  6. I’ve seen worse English mwandi, this isn’t bad at all.  But its a sad development.  Something needs to be dones

    • @Gumugumu:

Hmmmmmmmm, ubufi bululu!!! Yes you can see a written language, any languange, including English. Just like I saw and read your English comment here!!!

  7. IT’S GOOD THAT THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED. HOWEVER, NEXT TIME THE WRITER OF THE ARTICLE SETS TO WRITE ON THE ISSUES AGAIN AS HE HAS PROMISED I WISH TO ADVISE HIM TO FIND A TRUSTED FRIEND TO PROOF-READ HIS GRAMMAR BEFORE IT IS PRESENTED FOR PUBLIC CONSUMPTION. HE SHOULD ALSO INCLUDE NECESSARY INFORMATION SUCH AS WHETHER THE POLICE OFFICER’S WIFE IS ALSO A POLICE OFFICER. OTHERWISE REPORTING SUCH WRONGDOERS IS IN ORDER.

  8. #7,the boots needed to run a province were way too big for her than the correct sized ones to run a municipal council. Appointments to senior civil service positions should be based on merit , experience and professional competence for this country to move forward

  9. Zambia Police, THE most cruel people in thr world, to satisfy their mistresses, they will stop at nothing, Cruel bastards.

  10. There is too much laziness in govt. A lot of workers are paid for doing nothing. You go and work for the mines, you will see. If these civil servants were working like miners, this country would have been different. We need to change our work culture bane for us to develop this nation quickly.

  11. Allow me to thank you the Civil Servant who is concerned. Let us not laugh at his or her English grammar. The point has been stressed and its up to the I.G. and her team to look at these concerns. There is a lot of youth employment. If people are tried of work, resign and try farming. Well done civil servant and I would like to see a response from the I.G. or the Laison officer to acknowledge receipt of the letter.

  13. Open Letter to the Inspector general Police.
I wish to draw your attention to the promotion in the police force. I have been in the service for 15 years now and I have never had any promotion or appraise at all. All I see is the junior officers being promoted. This is really frustrating to me and my family. My wife and children keep asking me if there is something I have said to the officer in charge for not being recommended for promotion. I am currently based at Linda station under Chilanga main police. I challenge you Madam to come and see how many police officers report for work and the work attitude at the station both the main station and other surrounding stations.I have being hard working through out my career but this is now getting out of hand to say.
