Malawian President Joyce Banda is tomorrow afternoon expected to arrive in the country for a three-day state visit and also to attend Zambia’s 48th independence celebrations on Wednesday.
Malawi’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mganda Chiume said President Banda’s visit follows President Michael Sata’s invitation for her to visit Zambia.
Mr. Chiume’s was speaking to Journalists upon arrival at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport this afternoon.
The Malawian Foreign Affairs Minister who is leading the advance party was met on arrival by Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Effron Lungu and Malawian High Commissioner to Zambia David Bandawe.
Mr. Chiume said Zambia and Malawi have continued to enjoy warm relations dating as far back as the pre independence times for the two countries.
He said nothing should ever come in between the two countries to deter them from enjoying the cordial relations.
Meanwhile, Zambia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Effron Lungu said the state visit by President Banda of Malawi was important for the two countries.
Dr. Lungu called for the need for the two countries to scale up trade relations for their own economic benefit.
He noted that Zambia has continued to score economic successes since her independence 48 years ago.

personally i have no problem with our sister country who are above board with with a better constitution, people are not divided tribally as the case in Zambia and when they have a problem they speak with one voice. Zambia has a lot to learn from Malawi.
u have never stayed in malawi brother. do you know the Chewas and Tumbukas?
The Chewa in Malawi don’t like the Tumbuka . They have told them to go back to Zambia (sic). The Lomwe ( Mbingu WA Mutharika’s tribe) are also regarded as “foreigners” from Mozambique! That is your non tribal Malawi!
We do have tribal hostilities, but the increase in population and the small territorial boundaries are causing people to come into more frequent contact with one another. Also the cities scattered in the major four regions force various people to converge. The north only has one major city (mzuzu), and it is full of all the major ethnicities of that region. The central has Lilongwe which is full of everyone looking for opportunities from all the other corners of Malawi. And the South has Blantyre which is the commercial hub. All managers, accountants, executives and people with big business have their headquarters there. And ofcourse intermarriages.
The Lomwe’s were put at a disadvantage by Mutharika who was a very strongheaded tribalist otherwise before Mutharika, they weren’t…
Some invitations Ndoleshafye.
Welcome to zed Mrs Banda. With the kind of dynamic leadership we had with RB in zed and now you Mrs Banda showing quality leadership these buffoons in charge in zed will know that wisdom comes from the east.Feel at home in zed madam.
Mbuya, yes true wisdom from the east – but wisdom and being able to lead and influence others are not the same – reason why a Banda RB lead the country only for three years
Time to share the fuel money ka…… And when going back take judge Chipoko with you, he is eating our money for doing nothing.
All people from Eatern Province are wise. The only one who is not is RB
He is judge CHIKOPO and not Chikopa
2nd presidential state visit, sorry 4th state visit since Ukwa took over. The first three visits were all from Sekuru!
Can wynter kabimba manifest to this woman of africa?
Is  it the reason I saw someone cleaning a 4by4 to deport her back?
I must commend this lady she has personally reduced her salary from $60,000 to $40,000 as she finds it too excessive given that most of her citizens are starving…she is definitely walking the talk.
I hope she hasn’t come to Zambia to seek Military assistance to sort out Tz. over the boundary of Lake Malawi!!lol
Per month or per year? If its per year, then i wouldnt want to do her job
even chiluba did the same but found a way of recovering the reduced amount plus plus from the govenment cofers. it is just politics
Joyce is doing fine but Malawi is still poverty stricken. the problem of fuel still persists. Even Lilongwe goes without fuel for some days. While Malawians appreciate her tours to solicit for financial support, she has yet to improve the fuel supply by building reserves. Otherwise, she is a good mom.
Your hour take that judge back with you.
She has done a donchi on us. She is pretending to come for indipondo but she just wanted free transport to come and check on how her retard of a judge is doing
Dr. Lungu boasting that Zambia’s economy has been growing since… I think this statement was unnecessary. So what? Infact, Zambia’s economy fell so badly that there were queues for basic but essential commodities like sugar, meali-meal, cooking oil (saladi), dambo multi-purpose soap and many others! Chiluba FTJ brought reforms and warned us to tighten our belts! He retrenched (pruned or downsized), liquidated, privatised and we Structurally adjusted…
Welcome Madam, you have come at a right time when we have a president who has a heart for our people and not that RB. hope you learn s/thing from us.
she has come to take judge Chikopa or Chikopo as others call him
Joyce Banda is going to Zambia with an aim of persuading Sata to embrace homosexuality (gayism and lesbianism) like she’s done in Malawi. Otherwise, there is absolutely nothing constructive that she has gone to inform her counterpart
#5, ARE YOU SURE YOU MEANT TO SAY WISE AND NOT COWARDS?
Last year Namibian President attended Zambia’s Independence Celebrations together with Malawi’s Vice President at the time!!
Karibu zambia mama Banda. At least your country, even though poor,is a shining example of tribal harmony where chewas love ngonis and Tumbukas embrace Lambya people. No come to zed and its a Bembastan where a Tonga has absolutely no chance to lead and Lozis are not even considered zambian. Most of zambia’s problems arise from these no good Bembas who need to go back to DRC,their country.
You did not read the replies to the first bloger that’s why you repeating this tribal harmony that never exist in Malawi – One Zambia One Nation cannot be compared to Malawi
Madam, i hope you take the opportunity to lecture Ukwa on the demerits of doubling his salary when the average citizen can not afford to put food on their table.
Zambian Foreign Affairs has a deputy-minister? Amazing, only hear Lubinda a foreigner from Barotseland employed in Zambia.
I have never heard any president of a country (not tuma NGO presidents) visiting Sata since his inauguration, almost 1 year now, absolutely no friends at all.
may be it’s piece of cake.
