President Michael Sata has advised the opposition to seek sober forms of engagement with the government.

President Sata has further counselled the opposition political parties to cooperate with specific law enforcement agencies mandated with the responsibility of maintaining law and order as opposed to creating unnecessary tension.

“As Government, we have noticed a strange appetite for aggression and attempts to create panic and despondency in our people by a certain cluster of politicians within the opposition movement,” President Sata says.

“Our word of caution is that, we are wide awake to these low-priced political maneuvers and are ready to handle any situation, which is at variance with our laws with the firmness it deserves.”

President Sata said in a statement by his Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations George Chella, yesterday, that government will not be derailed from its responsibility of safeguarding and preserving the peace the country has enjoyed over a long period of time.

The President says there was a lot Government and the opposition could do together for the benefit of the country, provided there is decency, sincerity and patriotism from both ends.

“As leaders, we should all strive to build a united, democratic and disciplined nation. This can only be achieved if we all endeavour to adhere and respect the laws that govern us as a people,” President Sata says.

  1. these messages are george chellahs writing. we dont take them serious. we want him atleast for once to adress the nation. noti amafi yakwa chellah or is it metals when translated into english.

  2. The tone of the statement is rather inimical and does not encourage dialogue. The police are in fact breaking the law by refusing to attend to the needs of the opposition

  3. Mwami please dont just dig ur head out of the sand when talking about opposition..address the elephant in the room i.e. Kabimba…or is he really ur mouthpiece-and this UNIP BY-AIR type politiking has been authorised and engineered by u?

  4. IT IS VERY DIFFICULTY TO DRAW THE ATTENTION OF ONE WHO IS DRUNK WITH SOBER ISSUES, YOU HAVE TO GET DRUNK ALSO THEN YOU SHALL REASON BETTER.
PF ARE DRUNK WITH POWER, AND MONEY AND THE OPPOSITION ARE DRUNK WITH POVERTY AND LOSS OF DIRECTION.

  5. Oh dear! It is the medication speaking! A President who is never seen but all we hear are statements from the colonial governor’s mansion. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that either Kabimba or Mumembe is already President. How surprising that less than two days before Christmas the current occupant of the Governor’s mansion, whoever it is, is still politicking. Honestly some people are just plain sick!

  6. Dear country men and women, as your dishorable MP of mufumbwe am here to let you know that Ukwa my headman is sick AND WE HAVE TEMPORALY PUT M’MEMBE WITH CHELLA TO RUN THE AFFAIRS OF THE VILLAGE.
FOR NOW FIVE WITCHDOCTORS ARE ATTENDING TO HIM THO HIS PRAYING MAN MR. KALAKI IS FOR A DIFFERENT WILL TO BE DONE NOT ACCORDING TO PF.

  7. The opposition alliance is being led by Lifwekelo and Siulapwa. To start with these two Kadiles are jokers who are immune to embarassment let alone moral judgement. They will do anything to satisfy their greed and the are doing this to get a share of the RP Capital loot from the reversed privatisation of Zamtel. Nevers is said to be awash in luxury being dispensed courtesy of the RP Capital loot. Kandiles will certainly want a share of that loot hence their befuddled schemes!

  8. U rip what you saw,,,President you were once in opposition did do that hell Nooooooooooo….presure in mounting promises 90 days, jobs, health care plus more money………..lair lair Sata….lastly of late we don’t see you why hiding…

  9. Country men and women, is it just me who is worried about the president’s over use of his spokesperson? When is he going to make a meaningful address to the nation? We all know those words were not thought by him and yet these PF members always congratulate him on the statement. Is it just laziness or is he incapable of addressing the nation himself to give Zambians hope.

  10. My own state of mind, me Chikala Manzi, tells me that something is wrong in the governing of this country. There is no government. If it is there can someone show me who is in control?

“Our word of caution is that, we are wide awake to these low-priced political maneuvers and are ready to handle any situation, which is at variance with our laws with the firmness it deserves.”
    NAMUKULA, MWILAFISHA MUMATEBELA.

  14. Stop opposing anything ! Mind u we are critically watching u de oppo and u must know dat we have concluded dat wisdom has eluded u. U are full of amaturish. luk at de caliber of yo supporters here. here.Meaningless!

  15. It is time he started providing leadership and direction rather than talking through Chellah his mouthpiece. On top of this, let him hold a press conference and invite foreign journalists who would not be afraid to ask him questions on very senstive issues. A good example is why have a vice president who cannot act as president; why does he sneek out of the country and not let us know the reason for the secret visits….

  16. Sata and his Government are the ones that need sobering up and stop the nonsense of focussing on opposition parties instead of leading the nation. Anything the opposition do, will be followed by a press statement from Chella and or Sekani. Then some stupidity from Kabimba but when serious issues (mealie meal, fuel, energy etc) you are quiet and when you open your mouths you blame the opposition. You harass them day in day out and porch their MP’ s and today you are suggesting they should engage with Govt… I smell a rat as this is just a gimmick to pave way for another arrest.
