Clifford Mulenga: 2012 Was a Forgettable Year

Share

Clifford Mulenga says he wants to quickly forget the year 2012 branding it as the worst year of his life.

Mulenga of South African side SuperSport United said he is hoping for a better 2013.

The speedy winger was expelled from the Chipolopolo squad during the 2012 Africa Cup in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea on disciplinary grounds.

Mulenga however said he picked lessons from the ended year.

“To be honest it was the worst year of my life. It was really a terrible year for me I want to really forget. It has taught me a lot and I am hoping to learn from what happened and make 2013 much better,” Mulenga told Radio Icengelo via telephone.

He also talked about his desire to earn a regular place at SuperSport.

“The first six months at SuperSport have not been the best. I haven’t played as much as I was hoping. I am hoping to play a lot more in the second round and score a few goals,” he added.

  1. Truth be told, even if Zambia does not go far in the 2013 AFCON in RSA, Clifford as at now does not deserve a place in our starting line up. A combination of factors among them indiscipline, lack of playing time at his club, lack of fitness and general mischievousness are contributory factors. Actually there is no way Clifford could have found a place in our present squad – who can he displace? Despite these sentiments, Renard needs to forgive the young lad and tell him squarely that as at now he does not meet the grade for a call up. Maybe when he grows up in all fronts!

    • Spot on Godfrey Chitalu. On top of that it is believed he not a team worker outside the pitch, he is pompous and arrogant. Let him prove his worth before we think of having him in the team.

    • what of Chintu Kampamba who has been unattached for some time now? i wonder how he manages to maintain his place in the team…

    • Cliff if ur really sorry wth wht u did then go on nd tell it to renard…..thats wht hes waitin to hear frm u….dnt go around appologising on da media…hes also waiting for u to say…hey coach am still ur son..nd am sorry. Renard is ready to forgive u!!!! learn from ur mistakes nd never rpeat tht again.

  2. Libongani u r just like herve renard who has got no forgiving heart, wonder why u r still fighting 4 barotse independence the thing which will never happen even if HH becomes president today he can’t allow it to happen

  3. To be the beat player in the world you have to get married to discipline……the minute you divorce will be the beginning of your downfall….

  4. It takes a big man to accept a mistake, the important thing is to learn from ur mistakes and pick urself up, it does not matter how hard u fall, So Cliff just work hard to regain ur form..all the best. To Herve..learn to 4give, u need to nature these lads and not give up on them completely.

  5. I once spoke to this young lad at a personal level and I can assure you if he picks himself up he is definitely the future of Zambia. I can see him as Captain of the team lifting up a trophy for the Chipolopolo I’m most confident I have watched him before and I know what I’m talking about. Playing time is temporal there are many players who have been even in worse situations I know he will be back with a vengeance all of us are going to say that perhaps the chasing from the team was a blessing in disguise lol

    • What doez “lol” mean? Can’t find it anywhere in the Queen’z language vocabulary. If it’s a slang to mean “laughing out loud”, then it iz often uzed out of context. There are a lot of good playerz who are “bad boiz”(Have Baloteli on mind), but alll they need iz pozitive constant counselling to avoid reaching a ‘fiscal cliff’.

  6. The best way to seek for forgiveness it to call in person to the injured colleague. My Bro. Clifford, kindly find time to meet with Renard and ask for forgiveness. After all, to error is human but to forgive is Godly.
You still got talent and very young to be history. You started with Kalaba now see what your colleague has become.
You remain an icon in the Zambian footballing fraternity just jack up on one or two things as discipline is non negotiable.
VIVA Zambia Go….. Afcon here we come to conquer and defend. Wapya Munzi ba Sud Afrique’!!!!

  7. Clifford mulenga said 2012 had been his bad year and it gave him a lesson.
Am sure he realised the mistake he made, most of all i believe he still have talent.
Lets learn to forgive others there errors before we rate down the kind of blessing that God has give us.

  8. @THE ONLY LIVING JAY…you just didn’t know what LOL meant. There is nothing like laughing out of context….Just know when one writes…lol…they are laughing about something…you want them to write ke ke ke ke ke. Alas some do not even know what that is…lol

  9. But has Clifford repented and forgiven himself first?Seriously he is not even the answer to the team.It does not pay to be arrogant when you are just half average. What has made Zambia successful is mostly the discipline and unity in the team. There are no camps and petty jealousy.Clifford was a bad seed and it was important that he is weeded out before he contaminates others. He must be made an example and does not deserve to be in the team, let him carry the cross for the sake of team success

  10. #1 chitolu the boy didnt say he wanted to play now he was appologetic and merely reflecting on the year 2012,this negativity is not required but encouragement..Secondly the boy is not appologising in the press he already spoke the renard. What else do you want him to do,keep playing cliff.

    • Dude you are fool. Educate yourself before we educate you. Renard is just fine the guy deserves the disciplinary action for your arrogance.

  11. My advice to Clifford is to continue working hard for his club. Time will come for him to play for Zambia, most likely wen we fire Renard in the near future.

  12. Renard is a devil who must not be allowed in a country like ours ,he was forgiven by the zambian people when he abandoned the national team in angola and the people of this country decided to forgive him ,why cant he forgive the young boy .in this christian nation we alow a foreigner to execise hate at its highest level shame to the football administrator of this country who have made Renard untouchable in this country. Genuine parents forgive there children after being punished or just a strong warning.take my words this devil will disapear after the AFCON .
