Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili has told Nkana supporters to safeguard the newly refurbished Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.

Speaking during the re-commissioning of the stadium on Sunday, Kambwili cautioned the Nkana faithful against hooliganism.

He described the re-opening of Nkana Stadium renovated by Mopani Copper Mines as the happiest day of his life.

“Today (Sunday) is the happiest day of my life. Copperbelt could not be Copperbelt without Nkana Red Devils,” Kambwili said.

“Nkana is now back to the Kalampa days that we knew when we were young,” he declared.

“I want to appeal to you (supporters) that with the infrastructure that you have today please avoid violence because it doesn’t pay. Put your heads together and safeguard the infrastructure. that we are re-opening today” he added.

Nkana Stadium hosts Saturday’s FAZ Super Division match between Nkana and Roan United.

  1. MOPANI DID A VERY BAD JOB. IS THAT WHOLE THEY CAN DO IN THIS MODERN DAY AND AGE WITH THE MONEY THEY EARN FROM OUR COPPER? THEY COULD HAVE DONE BETTER. A FEW MILLION DOLLARS TO REBUILD IT TO THE STATE-OF-THE-ART WOULDN’T HAVE DRILLED ANY HOLE IN THEIR FOREIGN ACCOUNTS. EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD CORPORATES ARE ASKED (SOMETIMES EVEN FORCED) TO HAVE FULL COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITY- THEY BUILD/ADOPT PARKS, SCHOOLS, HOSPITAL, ETC, FOR THEY EXTRACT A LOT FROM THE COMMUNITIES IN WHICH THEY OPERATE. IF IT WERE A POOR ZAMBIAN-OWNED COMPANY, THAT COULD HAVE BEEN GREAT EFFORT AND WORTHY OF THANKING AND CONGRATULATING. BUT, ALL THE SAME KAMBWILI IS RIGHT- IT MUST BE LOOKED AFTER WITH JEALOUSY.

  2. Give praise where it is due. We have to appreciate, at least what has been done, and encouragements given to achieve more. It is not always good to be on the negative. We may end up killing even the good seed. Congrats for the Rehabilitation work.

  3. Ekulanda uko! “Copperbelt could not be Copperbelt without Nkana Red Devils,” Kambwili said. “Nalelo e ba Nkana ba winner, nalelo e ba Devil ba winner”

    • “Seni tulumbe ee ba Devil ba wina
Nalelo ee ba Devil ba wina

“Fighton Simukonda ee ba Devil ba wina
Nalelo eeh ba Devil ba Wina
      John Kalusa eh ba Wina
naleelo eeh ba Devil ba devil ba wina”

  4. Who was the contractor? how much did mopanyi spent? who is the beneficialy? what is the maintenance plan? all these questions need answers but as usual in africa more especially, the corrupt, poverty striken, disease, hunger etc country zambia, this reporting recieves KUDO’S and the minister is seen as a hard Worker

  5. Wher are they? 1.James jengela 2 .Golden kazika 3.Austin chishimba 4.Choncho 5.Godfrey muselepete 6.Reuben sakala 7.Dennis kabwe 8.stephen mwansa

  6. How many happiest days of one’s life can one minister have over a stadium, with all else to be happy for – LIAR! Just say you were pleased – ncikuwa kukatazya?

    • Its very SAD 4 a minister to say happiest moment in his LIFE is openning a refurbished stadium? It clearly shows how dull some ministers are, i thot his happiest moment in life is when he broke his virginity, if i were his wife would divorce him.

  7. Dominic Mutale, Jericho Shinde, Phiton Simukonda, Kapambwe Mulenga, John Kalusa, Kelvin Mutale, Eston Mulenga, Bubble Malitoli, Mordon Malitoli, Daimon Chiboni,

  8. It is encouraging to note that the minister of sport honourable Chishimba Kambwili found some time to witness the re-commissioning of Nkana stadium. We all know that Nkana FC and the famous “Pa Chilata” have a very special place in the history of foofball in this country. The minister’s presence, therefore, demonstrated this fact. Kabwe Warriors have renamed their stadium after their own legend Godfrey “Ucar” Chitalu. Nkana should do the same by renaming the stadium after Moses “Chairman” Simwala who was outstanding both as a player and a coach. I have no doubt that the legendary soccer commentator Dennis Liwewe will agree with me on this one!

  9. Ok Bakalampa mwalanda sana Ba busakile! I can see that al the comments above are from the Nkana faithfools, or sorry Faithfuls. Nomba the fact is Mwalipwa naimwe. miku inga mwa bwelelapo mu 1? and during that tym mwebakashi besu, how many times have you seen us go down? ofcourse you know who we are unless you are promiscous and dont know abalume benu. Well, All the same i wish the new look will boost the style of play and improve the team so that the rivalry can intesify one more time as in the days of Gentile, malitoli, chambeshi and others.

  10. Nkana supporters should also learn how to behave civilly. The era of stone throwing when you lose is long gone. Should the repeat this animal behaviour, the team should be banned for life and de-registered. FAZ has been very lenient with Nkana. Or better still, they shouls play in empty stadiums for two seasons.

  11. I stand to be corrected,in eastern province there are only two stadiums ,the old beity and the D.K stadium which is in a bad state. The D.K stadium is one of the best located and if given a face lift it can host international games.Am reliably informed that this stadium is far better than the Lilongwe stadium.Furthermore ,this stadium is not complete, works were stalled after the change of Government in 19991. The old beity stadium facilities have being taken up and are serving the intended purpose. I hope more sports facilities will be worked on in the due course.
