Namibian High Commissioner to Zambia Salomon Witbooi has urged Zambians to support efforts government is making to develop the country.

Mr. Witbooi stated that meaningful development can only be attained in the country if citizens take part in projects that government has embarked on.

The Namibian High Commissioner said in an interview with ZANIS that it is imperative that the people support government’s programmes for the betterment of the entire citizenry.

He said nations that have developed are those whose citizens have participated fully in government programmes and projects meant to uplift people’s living standards.

Mr. Witbooi said it does not augur well for citizens to sabotage government programmes for the sake of political expediency saying there is need for people in the country to work together for the good of the nation.

Meanwhile, Mr. Witbooi has called for the operationalization of bilateral agreements that have being entered into by Zambia and Namibia in order to enhance cooperation between the two countries.

Zambia and Namibia recently signed the joint commission of cooperation in areas including youth and sport, and exchange of prisoners among others.

He said the implementation of these agreements will be beneficial to both the people of Zambia and Namibia.

The Namibian High Commissioner also bemoaned the low trade currently taking place between Zambia and Namibia.

Mr. Witbooi however acknowledged that cross border trade between the two countries was on the increase.

He said the cordial relations that have existed between Zambia and Namibia need to be enhanced.

  1. the only people/ citizens who want all of pfs efforts to improve our economy frustrated are in the diaspora. these are the chaps that hh and co. are relying on to disparage the pf govt in all sorts of ways detrimental to the country.
how? through the current postings we read on the internet.
true zambians, with zambia at individuals’ hearts have time and again advised hh, nevers and the rest, to work toward the improvement of the well being of impoverished zambians who they aspire to lead, but to no avail.
theirs has alwaysbeen that of antagonistic approach to everything whether right nor wrong.
    sad indeed.

  2. HE the Namibian High Commissioner should hold his breath. If he strives to understand the dynamics of Zambian politics, he must first consult both his current Republican President and former Sam Nujoma on the prevailing situation in Zambia. Professionals have placed their zeal on holt with respect to matters of development until such time that tenets of human rights are restored. His task is to inform his government on the tyranny that is being unleashed on the Zambian people. Sam Nujoma knows the A B C of who was the real freedom fighter between Sata and RB.

  3. Let him who has ears hear, its not for any particular political party but rather for all patriotic zambians..let’s put politics aside and work with the government of the day…if the country doesn’t develop we have only ourselves to blame… Let us be politically party blind everyone..stay blessed

  4. Well said HE. Tell these people who think going to state house is their only baby…

Peace and Prosperity to mother Zambia.

  5. President Sata,
Please inform this “white boy” we are VERY involved in government projects like expropriating investments, writing off debts owed to DBZ, ignoring human rights, disregarding the constitution and the rule of law, and most of all, completing your retirement house that you will probably never have a chance to live in. Every single Zambian has had to pay a heavy price for them. How more involved can you get?
And send this diplomat, that is getting involved in our national politics, home with immediate effect!

  6. Advice based on patronage indeed! PF isn’t creating an environment in which the citizens of this country can freely participate in the development of this nation. Detentions of political opponents, lack of fundamental freedoms of association, speech and assembly. Discrimination based on ethnicity. Selective corruption fight targeted against political opponents. The list is endless High commissioner. How do people work with Government like that? By the way, the penalty your Government charges Zambian motorists who import vehicles from Walvis Bay for carrying a co driver, in order to endure the long desert drive, is very excessive. 1000 rand! Too much. Look into it Sir.
