Kabwata Member of Parliament (MP) Given Lubinda has charged that he has been persecuted for doing nothing and that his day of victory will one day come.

Mr Lubinda, who is serving a-six months suspension from his Patriotic Front (PF) party, likened himself to Jesus Christ’s resurrection few days after he was persecuted and accused of things which he did not even do but was enough to give him strength that his day of victory was coming.

He said this in an interview in Lusaka yesterday during the Palm Sunday commemoration when he joined scores of Christians to march from Libala Salvation Army Temple to the Mary Immaculate Catholic Parish in Kabwata constituency.

He said his day was coming because there was hope in knowing that the persecuted always emerged victorious.

Mr Lubinda urged politicians in Zambia to take the Easter period to pray to God to give them strength to stand against those they knew had evil intentions about their leadership.

The former Foreign Affairs Minister said leaders could not provide true service to the country when they were busy painting everybody else black other than themselves.

“How can you provide true service to people when you are painting everybody black except yourself? I urge politicians to pray to God to give us strength to stand against those we know have evil thoughts about us. This period is relevant to me because it tells me that even in suffering, there is victory,” he said.

He said the resurrection of Christ from the dead was an indication that those who persecuted others were in the end the vanquished while those who were persecuted emerged victorious.

He said the Palm Sunday was a sign of salvation as well as meekness of Christ who even when many people including those he saved accused him of things he did not do, remained true to his word.

He said that everybody including those he saved freely accused him but when he was being tried, he remained quiet and calm. He was accused of saving mankind and a lot of things were twisted against him.

He said that it was a reminder to Christians that there was power in remaining true to oneself as Palm Sunday was a period for leaders to realise that power was a borrowed thing.

He said Christ always humbled himself even at difficult times, something that leaders should emulate.

Quoting the Bible verse which says “Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing,” Mr Lubinda urged his fellow politicians to be meek and humble even when persecuted.

He urged political leaders to take this period to reflect on their role in society and not to only give prominence to themselves even to the extent of wanting to kill others just to place themselves on top.

He said the church had a role to pray in the good governance of the country and bring about development.

    • He lost my support the moment he said was going to enjoy his gin and tonic now that RB’s immunity was removed. I once held him in igh esteem, but he is now knowing fighting battles for other people. What a shame! He should have been expelled from his party!

    • You shouted crucify him crucify the former director-general of anticorruption Commision colonel Godfrey Kayukwa even though he was innocent and was ratified by Parliament.
Do not laugh at the fallen when slippery roads lay ahead. Just sit back, relax and enjoy your subsidised gin and tonic at Parliament bar and motel. 2016 welcome back to unemployment

  1. Lubinda is just eyeing the 2016 presidential elections. He really betrayed the PF so that he can be expelled and form his political party because there no real candidates for 2016 Nevers and HH cant win the election. Lubinda has seen the opportunity No wonder no one in the entire PF is supporting his innocence he cant even say what they are accusing him of because he is afraid the zambian people will judge.

  2. The people who support this Man don’t truly know him. This man a few months he has been in the ministry made many people get persecuted for nothing all in the name of him pushing his relatives in foreign service. I.e In Rome and Maputo. Lubinda you can hang!

    • We really do not care. If we knew who Sata, Rupiah, Mwanawasa or Chiluba were, we would not have supported them.

The little thing we know about GIVEN LUBINDA is enough for him to be REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT.

    • Ba Monde, please help me with this simple arithemetic question as Clinton puts it. If Bashikulu ba Sata by whatever reason decides not to contest in 2016, who do you think can take over the hot challenge and win PF the seat at plot 1? Being an outsider, i will definitely think it can only be Given, but you an insider, am sure since you have completely ruled out Given, share with us who can take the day from the rest?

  3. He will most likely be the one to land Sata’s hot seat when Zondwe kicks the bucket and all hell breaks loose in the bwato!

  4. @ #4 that nice one! Chiwamila yeve to persecute others. Ati presidential material? For which country? Ask how he divorced Mindia Mundale, this cruel pink man

  5. “If you’re going through hell, keep going” Those are wise words from Winston Churchill for Lubinda to keep in mind.

  6. Lubinda you are a let down. We thought you were a future statesman but your comments during the removal of RB’s immunity exposed the other part we didnt know about you. Even Prof Luo a diehard Bemba hegemonist put in a way that was very neutral and mature. So suffer properly, you deserve it.

    • Aa thief is a thief and ought to be prosecuted. How I long to see some of these former leaders that store from the poor Zambian hanged to death.

    • Towards a 500 man cabinet — can you ilucidate your name (explain the title of your name for bloogers to conceive its import)

    • The only important thing id that we know you too not even HH or Mumba….. No one is perfect not even your grand father and mother…

    • The only important thing is that we don’t know you(lonero) as well not even HH or Mumba… No one is perfect not even your grand father or mother… Its even better to talk about corruption that support a thief…. Lubinda stand by what you believe in (the fight against corruption) my man, and some of us will be by you to support…

    • Lonero you r making sense. Lubinda so just too cheeky to be an admirable person. Iwe chi @ dash, that s the same rubbish you hungry pf supporters said about jmichael sata. Look at the dollar now! Mealiemeal at its highest price, tribe turning against tribe, 92 percent of cabinet to be bembas, lovemore chikala still here, deducting salaries at will without consultation, and you r still promoting rubbish. You r better than this. Don’t act like you’re hungry

  7. “Power is a borrowed thing.” What better way can one put it; Given is not only intelligent, but tolerant and humble; in him lies a Very good example for leaders; no politician persecuted by his party for the past 20 years showed maturity the way Lubinda has done. Bravo

    • Mudala walasa, the persecution has brought out something that we did not know about Given. Capacity to withstand massive pressure and still survive. It only shows one thing that the man is able to handle hot issues of the nation and he is made of stainless steel. Kulibe nguwe ku skopo.

  8. he looks drunk to me.
on a sunday and a palm sunday for that matter….LOL!

lubinda, patience, humbleness, tolerance, humility and above all LOVE are virtues that you should embrace for you to make it in that dirty game you are in.
just tone down when drunk as you may not know what you say under the influence of liquor otherwise you are a good guy.

better than kabimba.. i just hope kabimba wont start another fight with you after this.

  9. LUBINDA IF REALLY U DIDN,T DO WHAT U,VE BEEN ACCUSED OF DOING WHY DID U KEEP SO QUITE WHEN THE ISSUE WAS UNFOLDING CIKALA IWE?HOW COME U RE BEING CONTROLLED BY FRED MMEMBE IN PF?LUBINDA U,VE BEEN BRUISED AND U,LL NEVER RECOVER NO MATTER WHAT.U RE GOING IN THE DUSTBIN OF HISTORY BCOZ OF BEING COWARD.THINK OF IT WHEN THE BURN IS LIFTED,DO U THINK U,LL BE THE SAME LUBINDA WE KNOW, U,LL BE AFRAID OF YO OWN SHADOW.THE TRUTH U RE A CORRUPT MAN THAT,S WHY U WERE BLACKMAILED NOT JUMP OUT OF A SINKING BOAT.CIKALA

  10. Many are called but few are chosen. Anyone’s character is what others come to learn about that person. The political answer to anyone lies in the support one receives from other people. You can be and say whatever or keep quite. Other people will place you where you belong, wrongly or rightly. Keep going Given, its life and living.

  11. Iwe chi given son of a hule.we were all behind you but you iddiot went on to side with the villains persecuting rupiah banda.from that momment you have disappointed a lot of followers such that we are now believing those are not just mare allegations but have an element of truth.infact if you were a man of your own salt you would have stood up to kabimba’s nonsense now i are just a silly coward.bustaaaard!

  12. This man is just payying for the hatred hz exihibited towards the inocent RB. Lubinda you deserve this to say the least. you are a total letdown

  13. Ok. I wonder how Wynter feels. Whatever the case, I think there was an invisible hand involved in his suspension. My advise to the big man… watch your friends closely.

  14. Your little ego has been injured so the best fror you is to resign from PF and start afresh. If you stick and remain with PF Mmembe and his friend the Nkoyaboy, Kabimba will never leave you free, they will work even harder to crush your little remaining ego. Get it from me.

  15. Ati “painting others black but themselves”. Isn’t this what he was doing of RB. What a hypocrite. Why does he not reflect on his persecution of RB? Why has he never answered the charges that Kabimba leveled against him?

  16. You were palying double standards, how can you be trusted?? Get back to your senses as you might be restored after the six months ban.

  17. Lubinda would have joined UPND had H.H changed his stratagy. Let H.H discourage hate online capaigne using a certain website because that wont win him vote. The stratagy hasnt worked in the previous bye elections. Ask mbozi

    • Iwe chi given son of a hule.we were all behind you but you iddiot went on to side with the villains persecuting rupiah banda.from that momment you have disappointed a lot of followers such that we are now believing those are not just mare allegations but have an element of truth.infact if you were a man of your own salt you would have stood up to kabimba’s nonsense now i are just a silly coward.bustaaaard!

  18. ‘The former Foreign Affairs Minister said leaders could not provide true service to the country when they were busy painting everybody else black other than themselves’….

  19. That is how issues of life are, when you are the persecuted you really wish you could be given time to clearly explain the side of your story but when it comes to others our same selves are so quick to conclude of their evils. If there is any lesson Lubinda learned from his persecution as he puts it, he would be the last person to persecute others. He chose the opposite on the removal of RB’s immunity; to make peace with his perceived enemies at the expense of justice.

  20. Quote from Lubinda, “Politicians should not put much prominence on themselves even going to the extent of wanting to kill others just to place themselves in power.”
It will be interesting for Mr Lubinda to tell the nation who are those people who want to kill others just because they want to be in power.

  21. For real leave Jesus out of your mess!you made your bed so you should sleep on it! Jesus was purely innocent not you drunkard. Why did you remain mute all this while and the churches you are using should have led you 1st into confession so that God can save you from sin!Why do they allows drunkards to make headlines from the pulpit so as to mek them appear like saints?

  22. ZAMBIANS!!! SUSPENSION OF LUBINDA is something we should not be Happy about. REMEMBER WHAT BROUGHT MMD DOWN?? Same kind of behaviors, they started very well, then In-fighting, accusing each other to the extent that all founders of MMD left. PF have to be very careful with players like Wynter, Sakeni and other noise makers. They lack confidence in themselves, that’s why the cheap politics to make sure people like Lubinda are sidelined. DON’T SEE ANYTHING DIFFERENT TO MMD, THEY MAY BE WORSE UNLESS SERIOUS CHANGE COMES TO PF??ELSE ZERO.

    • I don’t think the people of Zambia should expect anything different from this party.PF president Sata himself is a former member of UNIP/ MMD

  23. Point of correction, Lubinda was not officiating at Mary Immaculate Church, he officiated at Good Good Shepherd Church in Kabwata. Mary Immaculate Church is along Leopards Hill Road near Leopards Hill cemetery.

  24. You are a disappointment, a total disaster! I supported you and was willing to do that to my death! You voted along with people that are dangerously holding this nation hostage. You uttered your infamous Gin and Tonic clap trap even when you knew the real motive behind Matibini and Kabimba in the RB case. Even just abstaining for you would have confirmed your political future among the great. Its nothing to do as to whether RB’s guilty or not, its something to do with standing firm against dictatorship which you yourself have fallen victim of. You ve lost me in Kabwata!

    • It’s a democracy after all. The majority wins and that doesnt mean to say you get 100% votes. Lubinda is the next PF President.

  25. Given’s ‘dutch courage’ noises may be a confirmation that indeed Sata is very sick now and its an attempt to draw the battle line and a rallying cry for ‘war’. If Sata was alert and well, I ve my doubts that Lubinda would have had this gumption to cry ‘foul’ now. He’s trying to position himself for a possible nasty succession battle that this nation has never experienced. The ‘Post’ misplaced battle against HH’s non existent tribalism is also hotting up. Their attempt to quote discredited ‘authorities’ like Munkombwe who himself in actual fact is the real tribalist, is indicative of how potent HH could be in future. We should expect attacks of Nevers and possibly Mulongoti soon. Chipimo in my view is a far cry. As Dennis Liwewe would say, Let’s wait and see. The die is cast!

  26. Lubinda’s declared “day of victory” will soon materialise when Kabimba’s principal benefactor sighs his last breathe. Zambians have recited a diversity of prayers for Mother Zambia. Hence this year’s Easter may cast a dark cloud on Zambia.

    • In 2016 and anytime there is a bye election in Zambia. May the Good Lord continue watching over Given. We shall overcome one day.

  27. he squilled on Monde when he was at statehouse.the only person he met was GL on his way out but suprisingly HH called him before he could meet the president

  28. Why delete my postings. I will repeat what I said before. FRED MMEMBE is the one scared of GIVEN LUBINDA because he know’s he cannot bulldose him.

If Fred Mmembe thinks Wynter Kabimba can asup Given Lubinda as successor to MCS, he’s jocking. He will pay 18billion Kwacha with interest whether he likes it on not. Just a matter of time, and seeing that approach sooner rather than later.

  29. This guy has spoken so well but has forgotten that the other Friday he was debating on the removal of RB’s immunity in parliament. God forgive Given Lubinda coz ciwamina galu kuluma mbuzi not the other way round. Given needs alot of power prayers by born again christains. He is one of the MPs who put Rb on trial never gave a him a chance to defend himself. That removal of RB’s immunity is likened to what Jesus went through. Traitors are ever there generation in generation out. We are here to live with it.

  30. Cibaba mwandi! Those of us who have been unfairly treated know exactly what it is to go through that and watch the weasels go about their business like they didn’t nibble at you! But the end is always sweet – no malice to the weasels – just so sweet when it comes; the weasels will not even know where to scamper.

  31. Useless chap…Dangwaleza iwe…changa…finye…fulu…nthakumba…nthata…*****…gonkhanda..buluzi…imbwa…
    Persecuted for what…
I am enjoying it seeing you suffer with tonic and gin in my hands…forsake

  32. I like Given Lubinda. He is humble, patriock and professional. He cam to New York with the President and was the only one speaking sensible advise to Zambians.
