United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema has thanked the people of Lukulu West for voting for the UPND candidate Misheck Mutelo in Tuesday’s parliamentary by-election.
Mr. Hichilema says the UPND victory in Lukulu West demonstrate that the UPND is not a tribal political as some people in the country have been suggesting.
Speaking when he announced the appointment of his party’s new vice president for politics, Dr. Cannicius Banda and other newly elected members of the national management team, Mr. Hichilema urged UPND members to continue recruiting new members to join party from across the country.
Speaking earlier, Dr. Banda thanked the UPND leadership for giving him the position of vice president of the party.
He observed that the UPND’s manifesto presents the best programs of developing Zambia and thereby making the UPND the next suitable opposition political party to form government.
And former Western Province Minister and MMD Kalabo Central Member of Parliament, Richard Mwapela who also defected to the UPND, has pledged to use his experience to make the UPND more popular in Western Province.
Cannisius Banda could have done better by joining the progressive and inclusive Pf than this tribal party.A party which only exists in Western and southern provinces.Respect though doc, i remember the nice talk we had while you were at the ministry headquarters.Aluta continua !
Now the ‘Tribal Party’ is in western province also! I thought it would only qualify to be tribal if it was only in SP. So UPND being in Western Province and Northwestern is tribalism? ‘Triple Tribalism’. How marvelous! What entails a Party’s existence in a province anyway? An MP? No sir. As long as the structures of the party are in there, it exists. PF was in SP even before they rigged the Livingstone seat. You had Brian Haapunda, Munkombwe. Charity Katanga and the late cadres from Monze and Mazabuka. As you saw a few days ago, PF is in Lukulu though they lost. And Oh yes, UPND is very much alive in Kapiri and Mpongwe. Now that PF in SP revealed that the President has appointed 10 ministers from among Tongas, can they give details who those are? Munkombwe is Zezulu. Can a Tonga look like that? Chenda isn’t Tonga. Mwaliteta is Lenje and Monde is Lozi. Siamunene is from Binga, Zimbabwe. Lands minister Samoosa has indian blood and hence his name. Shameenda is Zezulu like Munkombwe just looked at his unkempt beard.

Lozis are not tribal. They are the only democratic and pluralistic province in the country. They are the only province that took to Parliament MPs from 4 different parties. In the provincial vote, RB took the majority of the votes followed by HH, then Sata . The last was Milupi a Lozi.

How do you know he’s never been in Northern Province? HH always goes to. NP, Luapula and Mchinga but your ZNBC doesn’t cover him. So you want him to shout on top of trees and mountains, “I’m in Northern Province, come and see!”. In 1991, Southern Province was the only Province in the Republic that gave Chiluba a Bemba President 100% MPs. Not Northern, Luapula, CB or Lusaka Provinces that still had pockets of UNIP. No wonder Kabimba is saying upnd is a conclave of two provinces, southern and western.
