FORMER Minister of Finance Ng’andu Magande says he is ready to accept a ministerial position in the PF government if approached.

Mr Magande, who is National Movement for Progress president, said as long as his appointment can be there to bring development, he would readily take up the job.

He was speaking when he featured on the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation Sunday Interview.

Mr Magande said he sees no problem to praise the PF Government when it implements development programmes.

He said he will not condemn Government even when it is not necessary to do so.

Mr Magande cited development programmes such as countrywide roads construction, implementation of the Vision 2030 and the Lusaka ring road programme as some of the projects the PF government is executing.

He said some opposition political party members just want to ‘eat’ at the expense of the suffering masses.

Mr Magande said there are many people who want to ‘eat’ at the cost of development.

He also said some opposition party leaders just want to be head of State as they have categorically refused to form an alliance to strengthen the opposition in the country.

Mr Magande said he now understands that politics has become of the belly.

“Daniel Munkombwe [Southern Province Minister] is right when he says it is now politics of the belly,” he said.

Mr Magande also said he does not support the by- elections that have been created in the country so far.

He said the by-elections have resulted in the increase in fuel pump prices, hence his party’s decision not to participate in the same polls.

    • Tongas are a weak tribe always begging.. it was first munkombwe, then now magande…unbelievably shocking,,, just as well sata also should consider employing HH in his kitchen

  2. Very Possible , we are a country of recycled politicians E.g Chikwanda.
Keep your phone on magande you might get a call !

  3. PF SHOULD TAKE THIS REQUEST SERIOUSLY. NG’ANDU MAGANDE HAS A LIMITED LIFE SPAN ON EARTH BEFORE HE EXPIRES. I URGE THE PF LEADERSHIP TO SERIOUSLY USE HIM. HE ACTUALLY MEANS WELL FOR ZAMBIA.

HE HAS VAST EXPERIENCE. I WORKED WITH HIM AND HE IS A GOOD FELLOW.

  4. He is right but working under pf he can not do his duties properly just wait for upnd in 2016:Pf will just make him dull.

    • UPND has along way to go. Let ba Magande work while he still has energy. UPND will only come to power in 2051.

  5. Give the Ministry of Finance back to him…..Chikwanda has been playing ball games with this important ministry!

  6. Take on the man i think he understand the Ministry of Finance better than the current Minister, you can try him in another Ministry or even deputy all we what is Development

  7. That is wise thinking Mr Magande ,help the masses you are the think tunks of Zambia it hurts to be lead by some grade nine Chaps who can not argue anything in Parliament

    • Not sure what belly you are talking about, the last time I checked the Magandes’ still own businesses in Lusaka, and in the U.S., rental properties throughout Zambia, and a 3,000 hectare cattle ranch, all together they currently employs scores of Zambians. What do you bring to the table? Pluck the beam out of your own eyes first, before talking about stuff you know nothing about…
Besides, was it hunger that prompted Hillary Clintons in the U.S. to accept the position of Secretary of State from Obama? No, it just made political sense to remain relevant until the next big fight. It is buffoons like you that Zambia can do without, no vision just blind partisan talk. You are like a child that cannot read, so when he/she is called upon to read in class he/she begins to behave badly to…

  8. i like magande..i trust him with Zambia ..such an appointment of such a competent fellow would not raise eyebrows

  9. Magande is very useful servant in zambia.Look at how he transformed the economy of this country under the late Mwanawasa. The man is very mature, competent and he means well.

  10. I have great respect for Mr Magande and he helped the late president in transforming Zambia into a middle income status. Zambia was financially sound when he was at the Ministry Finance. The cardinal initiatives that he brought under The Levy Regime will never see the sun shine again until his return.

  11. Magande: surely you have lived your life to the full. Secretary-General of that multi-national organisation for many, many years, finance minister for many, many years. Isn’t that enough, for you to still want some more?

  12. Let us use the skills of this man. Politics aside naimwe. Ba Magande means well for Zambia.

  13. ‘Et tu Ng’andu? You now want to eat with the man who called me a kabeci.’ Levy Mwanawasa (speaking from the Nether lands)

    • If a man is hungry he will not be able to continue feeding his workers, the Magandes’ as we speak is feeding scores of Zambians thru employment… so unless you are contributing to the wellbeing of Zambian families, your words mean little… stick to things you know about and leave other people’s business alone…

  14. Whether he is hungry or not is besides the point. Zambia would do well to exploit this guy’s political talent. Sata should have courted Magande not that Dhaneleon Munkombwe

  15. No he cannot bring about change he is a man who abandoned Mazoka and took a job from LPM, he only served one term as Executive Secretary and was not re-elected due to incompetence. Lastly a President cannot stoop to a Ministerial position….does he want to contribute positively….let him take over from his fellow failed presidential aspirant Clive Chirwa…..

    • davis, you mean Magande to be appointed as CEO of Zambia Railways? Even that I agree. Just give the man something sensible to do for mother Zambia.
