Chipolopolo returned to the top of Group D of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers with a resounding 4-0 victory over Lesotho at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Saturday.

Striker Jacob Mulenga grabbed a brace with goals in the 36th and 63rd minutes.

Zambia’s other goals were inked by Christopher Katongo in the 61st minute and Collins Mbesuma who scored the clincher on 83rd minutes.

Herve Renard’s side now has 10 points, one above second placed Ghana who thumped Sudan 3-1 on Friday night.

Zambia continue its Brazil World Cup campaign next week with another home fixture against Sudan in Ndola.

Lesotho have two points and bottom placed Sudan sits on one point.

Meanwhile, this was Zambia’s biggest home win since they beat Comoros by the same margin at Nkoloma Stadium in September, 2011 in a 2012 Africa Cup qualifier under former coach Dario Bonetti.

    • The victory over Sudan will not take Zambia to Brazil. There is still Ghana and then then draw for the 10 group winners to play home and away basis.

    • Ba soccer analyst! Mwaliteyapo bola atemwa mwaishiba fye ukucita analyse bola. Let us learn to be positive. Aba Bemba batila mukashi wandi njipikila akasembe ndye , ifintu kwesha besha. We obviously have to collect points as go along. Tuleya ku Brazil uno muku

    • @ Soccer Analyst, yuo are extremely right.Lets continue to educate others on what lies ahead in so far as qualifyng to the Brazil 2014 is concerned. If the lads remain consistent, it may be easy to beat Sudan next weekend. For me, two major huddles remain – firstly the last group game against Ghana at their home ground .Secondly ,and that is assuming we qualify, the game against group winners.
Uncertain though the future may seem we need to congratulate the lads for the good performance today and remain pregnant with hope that we could make it to Brazil.

    • Sad day for PF. They really want Chipolopolo to fail, because Ruphia Banda is a core supporter, and has invested alot in Zambian football.

    • Mukwai injipusheko… ‘mwabelesusha’ elo noku ‘sesemena’ emukuti shani, fipilibula shani, nebo nemulanda inshishibe, bandodololweko mukwai, nala tasha

    • ‘mwebalesusha’ …..you who are belittling

literal translation, I could possibly think of.

    • Ala na totela ba Chanda, thank you very much…I won’t forget now. Ichi sungu ichi tulanda lyonse chila labisha neko twafuma, imitundu chesu, ebwafya twakata mu chaalo chesu, uku kana lolekesha ku mitundu ne ntambi sha buntu besu paku ‘solva’ amafya ya chalo.

  1. Uncle Jay Jay wen u wake up from where ever u are, i would like to hear your Aanalysis on the Kulu/Herve team that has just won 4 goals to Nil.

    Thanks

  2. At least today these boys played like a coordinated team. Play the same against Uganda next week. Well done for today. Iyee chipolopolooooooooooo.

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.

  3. Zambia ain’t going to the World Cup, period! Should have beaten Lesotho in Mbabane in order to have chance.

  4. Congrats our Chipolopolo boys. You hv done our nation proud.

Now let’s hear from those cheap minded critics that always tok ill of our team, our coach & our Great Great Great Kalu!

  5. Congratulations to the boys for a well deserved victory over the Crocodiles. With three points in the bag that catapult Zambia to the summit of the group, the technical bench will do well not to drown in euphoria. Instead they should turn their focus and pay priority attention to the forthcoming game again Sudan.
Until Katongo orchestrated that pass that allowed Jacob a clear sight on goal to score the first goal, the team struggled to piece together some passes in the first half. In the second half the lads upped their game and produced, so far, the best attacking football at LM stadium. What are the lessons lived and learnt in this game, and what positives do we take into the Sudan game.
Restricted space restrains me to share my own analysis. Suffice to say that a compact defense, a…

  6. don’t put up your all hope on the guys there are seasonal today the may play well bt tomorrow ni kaya monga in ba nkwazi.so don’t be over warm by today’s game remember its just one point
nasiya ine oho lobe you will die of heart attack

  7. Pls we are playing Sudan next week and not Uganda.Secondly we should have beaten Lesotho in Maseru and not Mbabane.Nga tamwishibe information just keep quiet tondolo musuma.Congrats ba Zambia. It was a good display and they can do better next week.GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

    • Thanks for your correction on Maseru. Fact still remains that it’s Ghana proceeding to the next round and not Zambia. I can’t just see how our boys will pull this one. I support our team but I’m being realistic. I wouldn’t bet a single ngwee on our team beating Ghana.

    • Go on you need to keep psyching yourselves up. But remember 87? You needed to beat us to go to the Seoul finals. And you couldn’t. Its 25 years later and we are back.

  8. Baane a 1000 km journey starts with one step. The lads have just done that! However, our coach should work on coordination among the players. Chris cud ve used Kausu. Chisamba’s atics must be checked. Sikala was losing the ball easily in the mid field. with fast paced sudanse we may cry. lastly, Renard plse keep the boys within camp let them not drink & touch, touch. otherwise we ve a clismp of hope. Miracles do happen.

    • @ yakuna, I thoroughly agree with you that Renard need to keep the players in check but we part company on your analysis of two players – Chisamba and Sinkala. Contrary to your assertion, the two played extremely well. In the entire game, Chisamba initiated more error free passes than any other defender. The boy also helped in attack with one such pass resulting in that goal by Chris. Sinkala was also at his best clearing most loose balls in the middle of the pack. If the defense pair of Mtonga and Himoonde was not exposed it was all because of Sinkala.

  9. Guys dot waste your tym on Neo-Patriots.Whtever he calls himself. His from Ghana. Can’t u see how his struggling with data of Zed one all game

  10. As it stands and if they go on to beat Sudan next week, they don’t need to beat Ghana in the last game. A draw would suffice. And they are quite good at draws

  11. congratulations chipolopolo, please keep it up and lastly try to be consistant not where you beat ghana today and draw againest swaziland,we love you.

  12. congratulations chipolopolo, please keep it up and lastly try to be consistant not where you beat ghana today and draw againest swaziland tomorrow,we love you.

  13. Whatever the result against Sudan , this group will be decided in Ghana ! The permutations are like this : 1) Zambia draws or loses to Sudan and Ghana beats Lesotho = Zambia needs to win in Ghana : 2 ) Ghana and Zambia have similar outcome ( win , lose or draw ) = Zambia need draw in Ghana : 3) Zambia beats Sudan and Ghana draw with Lesotho = Zambia need draw in Ghana : 4) Zambia beats Sudan and ( God forbid ! ) Ghana loses to Lesotho = Zambia through (can afford loss in Ghana) ! So as you can see , this group will almost certainly be concluded on the last day in Ghana ( except for the very unlikely scenario # 4 )

  14. good job boys..like i said before keep winning..and let Ghana play catch up. The pressure is back on them..and soon they will choke again. By the time we play them on the final day, it will be like the 2009 world cup qualifier against Egypt in Cairo..that game was a cracker and so will be the game against the black stars..The boys will be ready and looking forward to the challenge.

    • Ghana beat Zambia by four goals to one in London. Just accept the fact that you are always outplayed when you meet the black stars.

  15. No one is talking about Sudan. That’s our very next hurdle. They are like a wounded buffalo considering FIFA’s ruling against them. They will want to prove a point, embarrass Zambia at home and spoil the party.

    • EVERYBODY WOULD LIKE TO PROVE A POINT ! NO ONE EVER PLAYS A SOCCER GAME WITHOUT AN INTENTION OF WINNING ! SO , OF COURSE SUDAN WILL WANT TO WIN ! LESOTHO WILL ALSO WANT TO DO BETTER THAN THE 7-0 THEY SUFFERED IN GHANA !

  16. Congratulations and Keep focused. Please not Ifyama Rubbish when Playing Sudan Keep up the high spirit. Tufwile Twaya KU Brazil Tukabalange Bola??

  17. by way Kumasi is known as a smoke city. Residents burn waste every evening to keep mosquitoes away. The whole city become choky with smoke. its noisy with blarring music24/7. Zambia need to prepare for psychological war fare in Ghana. Since the decider match will be ppayed in kumasi, with the ashanti tools prepared for chipolopolo. it will be tough but surmountable. go chipolopoloooooo! finsanga abalenteye. we are still celebrating here in ndola. Copala mama.

  18. There was a time when we never even used to worry about teams like Lesotho. Now we are so relieved when we register a win against them. How the mighty have fallen!

  19. LCDs has put up a very excellent analysis which pipo ought to read and understand. lets not just support blindly but rather have a deep sense of analysis of the game!! Ghana also wants to win and qualify for BRAZIL 2014. WAKE UP BLIND SUPPORTERS.

  20. Ghana beat Lesotho 7.0 we beat them 4.0 and we are making noise,we have not win any away match, Ghana beat Sudan 3,1 with ten men,we should not forget what ever we did to them when they came here they well do much more to our player who have not win any away match,we are not going to any world cup
