Online publications reporting unfair – Sakeni

Government Chief Spokesperson Kennedy Sakeni
Government Chief Spokesperson Kennedy Sakeni

Chief Government Spokesperson Kennedy Sakeni says it is unfair for online publications to continue reporting negatively about the country even when government is doing its best to address issues affecting the nation.

Mr. Sakeni says government is striving hard to create a good image of the country both to the international community and the Zambian people.

He says he will not waste time responding to reports by online publications portraying a negative picture of government’s performance.

The Chief government Spokesperson has singled out the Zambian Watchdog as fond of making up stories without facts hence misleading the nation.

Mr Sakeni was responding to a question on how best government intends to address issues to do with the promotion of good governance, including the fighting against corruption and press freedom.

  1. You look weak when you complain-just up your communication skills and strategy. lf you are doing a good job and no one notices or hears about it -it is your problem and not the media

    • He is right as well, too many nonsensical people especially contributors on Lusakatimes, I even wonder what goes through their heads
The elite on these forums are no more than 4 and I am one of them that leave Three

Lusakatimes how about banning people who talk rubbish especially people whose contributions is all about them and nothing related to the topic at hand
      They chasing us away

We need answers, and I completely agree with Mr Seskani

      Thanks

    • Zambian Watch dog has taken a political trajectory that aims at throwing the country off tangent in an attempt to divorce the local and international communities from the current government. The lawful mandate of the PF to rule this country has left pompous but strategy-less opposition very bitter, to the point of wanting to cut short the term by concocting, insinuating, perpetuating exaggerated innuendos.

This is a futile and unkempt strategy which can only be hatched by numbskulls. The PF has not less than 10 more years to go before people begin to get weary on a serious note. I mean before we get that critical mass to talk about real change. Otherwise villagers will ensure PF goes on past 2016, 2021 …Lol

    • @Chindakwanda-Galileo Galilei blogger al is right. When you complain you look weak. Let people judge you by your actions and in this case let pf deliver then they would prove ZWD wrong.
As for Mushota I am sure you are an elite in dunderland…

    • @Kaponya, Al could be right to a certain extent. That is if the online media was operating without hidden agenda. There are people who live outside and have no chance of verifying or visiting Zambia to get facts. They will form their opinions based on media report.

An example can be a prospective investor who may be planning to come to Zambia. S/he may be influenced to have second opinion based on media reports. Yet, it may not occur to such a one that these reports are laced with political poison meant to achieve just that; paint the current government evil and up to no good when in fact, any government first and foremost aims at bringing development to the country.

The difference really lies in strategies, approach, priorities, policies and determination. DIPLOMACY MY FRIEND.

    • People will never stop complaining but we should appreciate some progress
a piece of bread is better than nothing

    • Very very reliable online publication,!! makamaka Watchdog, awe sure that `dog` can see even inside the state house,,,, just go and check lubinda and bwalya story now… tapped from OP who tapped from lubinda and bwalya!!!! yayayayayayay

    • Those WtDogs bark too much. A barking dog is a kuwe, such dogs don’t even know how to hunt rabbits, they even bark at cows thinking its hyenas just because of spots.
Then another saying goes “imbwa ya mukali taikalipa”. Look how The Post is disappearing, just because their boss Sata is too harsh.
Thank you Ba LT, you kind of fair.. but not ukudelela, am not kissing your ass!!

  2. I thought your buddy said you didn’t care about the international community? Today you say you are striving hard to build the image of Zambia?

Get your story (or lies) straight.

  3. The best media now is online.you get first hand info before it is actually circulated 24hrs later.

  4. i agree with him zambian watch galu can never say anything bad abt HH,is he perfect hell no,zwd is always targeting once upEND members to slander their names, why?because HH and his zwd are bitter!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and at the end of the day other countries re reading whilst you think its the pf name ure tarnishing, its zambia as a whole, zambian watch (DOGS) THINK !!!!!!!!

    • Who cares that other countries read? I hope so actually, because you may need humanitarian aid anytime now

    • @kwa George you have left out ZNBC, Daily Mail and Times of Zambia~these are all for Pf thus ZWD cannot even begin to compete with the majority. Why should that worry Sakeni?

    • who doesnt read the watchdog? gossip ,jucy news, jaw dropping scandals, sex gossip in today`s age makes a cut not press statements … people love scandals,, stories behind the scence… real life drama!!

Remember the post newspaper in its hey days?????

    • @Ndobo
I thought since ZWD is touted as pro-UPND so it wouldn’t be their go-to publication. Guess I was wrong and they do read it.

      Messages:
Hi Sakeni! Hope your evening’s great. When will they make you the only spokesperson for government?
How’s it going Edgar? I have a great cure for a hangover. I’ll share it with you, if you like.
Hail to you Mr. Sata sir. What’s on your agenda for the next 3 years, any press conferences?

  5. I thought PF said they do not care about what the outside think about this kantemba run government. I said that Mugabe did not care initially too until time to care came when the economy started to go down. As for Zambian Watchdog and Zambia Reports, those are better than The Post and government held publication which are full of propaganda and misleading information. Zambian Watchdog, Lusaka Times, and Zambia Reports are my favourite and an hour never passess without reading the pages. Just shut up and in this age of Internet it is difficult to hide behind government help media and its supporters.

  6. actually online media has been very accurate so far, the only story we need verification about is the urine bag

  7. Until the day that The Zambia Daily Mail,ZNBC and Times of Zambia become fair, there will be more websites like ZWD emerging, these are the websites which tell the other side of the story instead of listening to only false stories and assurances from the ruling govts of the day,the govt will not win against online media unless they want to be undemocratic by blocking out access to such sites within Zambia.

  8. Zambians are genuinely nice and cheerful pipo. How do I know that? Well I have lived in Zambia and lived in the Zambian communities abroad, however, when it comes to their local politics, they are the most docile citizens I have ever met. They talk a lot about their national politics including the lasting peace they have enjoyed since independence but they complain about how horrible their Presidents have been. The latest one being the PF gvt that promised them the Holy land and have ended up giving them Zoly land. The parliamentarians voted to represent them are as mute as “ichifukufuku” except for one Mulusa. For example, the President would disappear out of the country for two weeks and no one will raise a finger. Is this how Zambians have decided to remain peaceful or they just…

  9. The minister is very right. Online Publications think they have no responsibility. They publish defamatory material all the time without facts or with twisted facts. Sometimes they invent facts and stories. Their bloggers want to publish uncalled for insults. Most bloggers dont even read or understand a story; they just rush to pass an opinion. They are so excited with the fact that their rubbish can be published for the whole world to see without the supervision of an Editor they will spew rubbish. Lets get over it and be sensible

    • When you live over seas just a few days you think you are educated and start speak rubish against Zambia. that is being foolish. in those countries you live among people who can not tell the difference between males and females. let them keep their countries and we shall keep our Zambia.

  10. The only ‘cure’ for those bad stories is good governance. This govt never consults people and is more interested in preserving itself than developing the country. How the hell do they expect people to publish good stories when they are not working for the voters who put them there?

In my opinion the online media have not done enough to expose how disorganized the PF is. I am yet to see a plan from the PF on how they intend to develop the country. So far they have even failed to preserve the structures they found in place. I wonder what they plan to realign now? Can someone also tell me their preoccupation with failed states such as Zimbabwe, Palestine and Cuba. These countries can never do anything for Zambia!

    CNP

    • I suppose Canada can do a lot for Zambia right? Butt out, Einstein, your boss is Savimbi’s best buddy remember?

  11. I THOUGHT PLOT ONE EDGAR LUNGU SAID ‘THEY DON’T CARE WHAT THE THE WORLD THINK OR SAY ABOUT ZAMBIA?’
    So why is Sakeni worried?
PF is a failed project of JERUSALEM promised
Resign and pave way for working Zambians to take over the damage

  12. AT THIS STAGE THE GOVERNMENT CANNOT STOP ZWD FROM PUBLISHING THE RUBBISH THEY DO. THE BEST IS TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT ALWAYS. AND THE READERS WILL KNOW WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH. WE ALL KNOW THAT THE ZWD IS SPONSORED BY HH, SO IT ONLY REPORTS WHAT PLEASES THE PAY MASTER. YOU CAN ONLY FIGHT ERROR WITH THE TRUTH. ZAMBIANS ARE NOW MATURE. THEY KNOW WHO IS TELLING THEM LIES AND WHO IS SAYING THE TRUTH. SO, BWANA SAKENI DONT WORRY ABOUT THE DOG. IT ONLY WATCHES OVER ERROR.

    • It is not only rubbish they print; we get to know the news at least 24 hour before Sata holds a swearing in ceremony or before one is expelled. In fact the pf almost always confirms what ZWD writes. If going by your sentiment that they are sponsored by hh then he must be one clever guy, who is way ahead of everyone including the Past newspaper…no wonder Fred membe hates him to death.

  13. Media and propaganda thru the pay of upnd and mmd are the reason to confuse and destroy Zambia. Every weeks my people in Zambia said all go well and some got the jobs by what the hell all these nonsense media. I may go and see myself this year before I blast the media.

  14. Good to know that ministers are reading ZWD…. Keep it up ZWD, you are balancing the news, the Post is more PF than daily mail and times of Zambia

  15. All the papers support Sata and PF, which is not healthy for a democracy! It must not hurt for only one online publication to support an opposition figure who is not that popular!
We have to live with the realities of a democracy! Not everyone will support government!

  16. What is unfair about reporting that your armed forces shot dead two eligible voters in Chongwe’s kampasa area?
What is unfair about reporting that your government mishandled the Clive Chilwa – Zambia railways impasse on bonuses?
What is unfair about reporting that your government’s youth wing “PF Carders”[Remember yours is the party and it’s government] are on a beating spree, beating people including journalist and worshipers?
What is unfair about reporting that yours is an animal farm type of government?

  18. ZWD have said the truth on many occasions .For insatance we were told that UKWA was going to appoint some useless and unprofessional lawyers as SC.Guess what, the story was true.ZWD broke the news that UKWA’s relative was to be made deputy governor of Lusaka. You dont need facts to prove that Mr Sakeni do you?Another story was that Masebo’s son was an embassy official in Japan. The facts are there for Sakeni to prove himself. What is he morning about?

    • And you those lawyers are useless?

If you were the President, which Lawyers would confer the prestigious title on? Not any good lawyer who is just sitting idle and does not help govt in any way.

      What about that my friend?

  19. What good use is a Government without good opposition like the one being exercised by our Zambian opposition parties?Every great and developed countries started in the same way.Take on board all criticisms and work on them to develop the country, not just ignoring them because they come the opposition !

    • I do not agree what has happened to the news of the world. They thought they were clever by buying hot news using corrupt means even this watchdog one day the people behing will be known one of them is a Tonga chap based in SA

  20. The man is angry because people share the post for the adverts and use their internet enabled phones for the news. Pissed off GRZ workers are leaking stories like a coriander and GRZ cannot figure out who, what, where and how its happening. Even from hallowed offices, leaks are happening. Stuff they’ve tried to hush up is hitting the fan and giving GRZ nightmares to manage.

  21. Cage these criminals use the international community like Scotland yard or CIA there will trace these criminals some are based in SA.

    • Best way is to ignore her. She deliberately writes to upset people, in other words, a troll.

  22. Mushota, you are spot on.There are very few bloggers who are well mannered and contribute positively, the others leaves much to be desired. They are always here and posting rubbish.

  23. Ba Mushota ..! Really ?You are saying you are the Elite one? Hahaha don’t make me laugh! You’re a joke! Perhaps you need someone to open your already blind eyes to going one in our beloved country Zambia.Let the people express themselves and get the hurt out of their chests.Ukupwalala iwe Mushota flak ale !Panse!
