Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Mkhondo Lungu has directed Health Minister Joseph Kasonde to present a ministerial statement to Parliament on the reported importation of beef products by Zambeef containing harmful chemicals.
Mr Lungu made the ruling in Parliament this morning following a point of order raised by Monze central Member of Parliament Jack Mwiimbu whether government was in order to remain quiet on the matter without informing the house what measures they are taking to safeguard the lives of the Zambian people.
Mr Mwiimbu said there is no guarantee that the purported contaminated beef products have been withdrawn from various Zambeef outlets in the country.
He added that the Zambian people want to know what immediate measures government is taking to ensure that their lives are protected.
Zambeef imports beef products, which mainly include hooves, livers, tripe for sale to Zambians in its many outlets dotted around the country.
Health Minister Joseph Kasonde has revealed that tests carried on imported ZAMBEEF beef products have confirmed the presence of chemicals which are also used to embalm bodies.

ZWD cannot say anything about this because HH is the biggest supplier of beef to Zambeef and owns ZWD. If Zambeef goes on its knees HH suffers and so do the ZWD.
HH should also explain to Zambians why Zambeef is doing this kind of business because he is part of Zambeef since he has shares in Zambeef. This is clearly targeted persecution. It is within the mandate of the govt. to ban anyone from importing beef without looking for a flimsy reason, as they are doing in this case. Effects from exposure to embalming fluid include: bronchitis, body tissue destruction, brain damage, lung damage, impaired coordination, and inflammation and sores in the throat, nose, and esophagus. IT IS EXTREMELY CARCINOGENIC.
Short-term effects: Anger and frustration, depression, hallucinations and delusions, headache, impaired vision and coordination, increase in women?s sexual appetites, loss of consciousness, memory loss, paranoia, physical violence, sleepiness, and vomiting.

A long time ago Zambia was self sufficient in beef; from Tongaland. Then Chiluba came and through neglect of the Livestock services programmes, almost half of the cattle in Tongaland was anihilated. To feed the growing hungry town population, the government allowed ZAMBEF to embalm meat wastes (vimbombo, livers, tripe etc) to feed the urban poor. But a few Tongas including HH embarked to resuscitating the beef industry ku Musanza. HH open abbatoirs in Kalomo, Choma and Namwala and he now sells his beef direct to you in Pick n Pay. Viva mwana wabuleya,HH!!!!
Let us promote our livestock farmers like HH and others to feed the nations and not importing contaminated beef. Local z power.

ignorance is kind…….this seems like a political motive against zambeef, after all a big company like zambeef, i assume only a very very small percentage of their turnover is from these so called questionable imports……..
But we are still gullible because we r not analytical!!! Already we r splitting hairs about Zambeef forgetting about chickens that mature in 20 days and sold or fresh fish from the high seas kept frozen using chemicals similar to the ones in the zambeef case…This revelation answers my question why zambeef staff dont eat their own meat and chickens….
