Opposition leaders of both United Party for National Development (UPND) and National Restoration Party (NAREP) have congratulated the Patriotic Front (PF) on their victory in the just ended parliamentary by elections.
UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema and NAREP leader Elias Chipimo jr released the stablements below to the media
MESSAGE FROM HH
Feira, Luanshya and Kazungula
Colleagues and fellow country men, I congratulate the PF through Patrick Ngoma on their victory in Feira. The supporters and their campaign team also deserve congratulations. I wish all of them well. This is a time of great challenges for Zambia and particularly Feira. I pray that the MP will be successful in guiding the constituency on the path to success and development.
I want to thank the campaign team that camped in Feira for months. The team led, by Vice President Canisius Banda, did their best to ensure that UPND came out of this election with its head high. The people of Feira that braved the cold weather to give UPND something to smile about. The people of Feira have confirmed something that our opponents have been denying, that UPND is the largest opposition party in Zambia, that means that UPND can only get better.
Let me take this opportunity to also thank all those that have volunteered and continue volunteering their resources to the UPND, be it time, finances, advise, and various other forms of support even moral support. I would like to thank you very much and urge you to continue with that spirit for the sake of UPND and democracy in the country. Thanks for all the hours of work, for the calls, for the speeches and appearances, for the resources and for the prayers. You gave deeply from yourselves and performed magnificently, and you inspired us and you humbled us. You’ve been the very best we could have imagined.
Zambia, as you know, is at a critical point. At a time like this, we can’t risk partisan bickering and political posturing. Our leaders have to reach across party barriers and do the people’s work. And we citizens also have to rise to the occasion. Let us prevail on all those that win and lose elections to continue with the leadership that they promised before and after. There is a no point in offering oneself to lead but end up only showing up during elections.
This is the message from me to Eularia Zulu, a woman of substance and intellect. You wished you had been able to win this election and give the people of Feira something to smile about. But they chose another leader. Leadership is not just about being an MP, but you are a role model to many young women out there. You are the best UPND can offer, not for the sake of UPND, but for the sake of the people of Feira. If another election was to be held, UPND would field you again. Thank you very much for the confidence you have shown in the UPND and its leadership. We shall forever cherish your decision.
For our candidates in Luanshya and Kazungula. Your job has just began. UPND means business. Your contribution to ushering UPND into power can never be under estimated. The party will rely on you to ensure that the message reaches the grassroots.
UPND supporters, let us pick up the pieces, assemble them and march forward to 2016 without losing sight on the upcoming by-elections.
Hakainde Hichilema
NAREP WILL SOLDIER ON TO VICTORY
NAREP remains resolute in its efforts to offer value based leadership to the Zambian people. The results in the recent by election in Feira constituency as well as in various wards (Justin Kabwe in Luanshya, Chibale and Masaninga in Serenje and Mushipashi in Luapula) reflect a familiar pattern of patronage, poverty and the politics of intimidation that the PF administration has taken to new levels.
NAREP nevertheless acknowledges the Patriotic Front victories. We have no hate speech as a party for the winners but we urge them to work hard and deliver to the expectations of the people in Feira, Luanshya and Serenje. Politics is a game where there will always be winners and losers. The malpractices that were reported in Feira should, however, be thoroughly investigated if the majority of Zambians are to place their trust in the Electoral Commission.
By elections have become a normal feature of our political landscape and our outreach to communities across the country compels us to utilize the limited resources at our disposal as a Party to spread our message during these times as we build a firm foundation for the next general elections. We remind every Zambian that the race is not to the swift, nor is the battle to the strong, but time and chance happens to all. We therefore stand resolute in our quest to deliver quality leadership to our country. The road may be bumpy but our resolve will never falter.
Elias C. Chipimo
NAREP President
Why congratulate rape of democracy and permanent deviation from nation building to a state of permanent campaigns, endless electioneering and serious neglect of zambian masses? When will this govt do any serious nation building work other than endless ubufi?
Seems you have no remorse, looooozeeer! You are more a loser than HH and Chipimo Jr. You have no recourse to speaking the words that can attract people to your party. Negative talk will never ever win you sympathizers or supporters. Infact, with your attitude, more people will run away from you, for sure. Learn to get to reality. Winners speak positive language which is additive to progress. Yours is about reinforcing your position in the corner where few what to be. Well remain there. Your leader can at least appreciate and congratulate, but you, Enka, have a long way to reality.
CHAKUBABA MUFANA AI? THAT IS DEMOCRACY FOR YOU. THE WEAK ALWAYS LOSE IN A DEMOCRACY. THE POWERFUL WIN.
They should learn to speak to people, not playing to the gallery of the elite in Lusaka who do not even vote. I have always stated that even simple sloganeering helps, excite the masses, have some charisma, ask them questions and let the masses repond.
UNIP=One Zambia, One Nation…….Dr. Kaunda, no Change…..
MMD=The Hour, Has Come….
PF=Donchi kubeba…..more money in your pockets….90 days
Democrats=Can we change the way we do thing? YES WE CAN….
These simple catchy words spread like fire and help to sell the party. HH and Chipimo claim to be educated and intelligent but they are dull. They little understand the psychology of the masses.. If they are cunning politicians, they ought to be prepared to lie, like we shall build Shanghai city in Feira in 90 days!
Looks like HH is finally maturing.I didn`t expect this from him.Maybe he should also teach his Zambia watch d.o.g publication to also start accepting things including their internet trolls who don`t even vote coz they are not in Zambia. They should stop their cries of rigging every time they lose elections .Funny how some politicians are popular in the digital world but almost unknown on the ground.
Pathetic opposition, God help them!
lady luck does not always knock on the same door. celebrate now but your time will surely come when lady luck will be knocking on your neighbors door.
yes the time will come when lady luck will be knocking on neighbours’ doors.
but definetly not upnd’s closed door.
unless their watchdog unlocks its doors to divergent views other than upnd’s, this party is doomed to perpetual loosers.
Thank you both HH UPND and CHIPIMO NAREP for acknowledging the results and recognizing PF Victory in Feira by-elections. However i must say that Narep acceptance of results yamasetini because the statement from Chipimo sounds more political set up than admitting the defeat and win by PF. As for HH he sounds more reasonable this time than ever before in accepting results. But on the other hand why is HH not protesting about Zambeef saga like he did on subsidies and mini bus drivers?
Spot on if he has the heart to serve Zambians he would have issued a very strong statement to condemn Zambeef.
because the accusations are malicious.
zambeef is not govt. secondly, it would be unprofessional for HH because he competes against zambeef. it would look like he is celebrating for zambeef’s problems.
angus and rex are one? ogre!
imagine this HH is quiet about the ZAMBEEF saga in which Zambians are being feed on poison. This is a test for him, if he will remain quiet on this, then Zambians will know that he is just driven by hetrate and frustration against the PF . We are waiting for his demonstration.
Hahaha Truth Hates. HHS is not he president. Why are you not asking Sata to comment, he is the president and should be seen to be caring. So if people die out of consuming this beef, I believe you will blame HH. Anyways only in Zambia the poor country with dull people like you.
emwinne bakamba. you can not protest over your own leaking roof. the solution is to mend them.
I think its a good show of maturity from both the players including PF in the beginning when they started thanking the people of Fiera and other participants. But I guess its like Diarrhea when it start it looks solid then all hell keeps braking loose but only from the mouths in this case.
lets further appreciate that Zambians haven’t yet reached a tipping point and we don’t know if it will come. If they continue to be happy with the state of affairs, so be it when they are not they will look elsewhere. Its happened four times before. If development comes, it wont happen if it doesn’t come, then watch the space.
Cheers
Chipimo jnr sounds bitter. His statement shows that he does not really accept the results in Feira and wants people to think that the elections were rigged. From the number votes his candidate got their he would still not win evdn if the seat was nulified and another bye election held.Chipimo is full of theories and forgets that people want a party with practical and workable slolutions.Narep is still a baby in politics and it still has to grow before iit can be appreciated by the grasroots
Of course Chipimo is disappointed, because NAREP had a very strong candidate. You don’t expect him to be happy when a very good candidate has just list an election.
As for the subsidies alike to Zambeef comments from him, Am also waiting and I hope he is waiting for the right forum’. Were watching HH
Aaah! Even you, you are sinking this low. You should be talking of the president to comment on this serious issue, coz its a danger to the people who might consume this beef, and you expect HH and not the president to comment on this issue. Funny.
from 49 mps under Anderson mazoka to 29 under hh that remains the untold story
Those Statements are not TRUE . They have been refuted. They were issued by PF. PF is trying hard to hide their criminality!
These guys have been magnanimous in defeat and you keep running them down. Would you rather we returned to singular politicism and oppression? What’s wrong with this Nube Princess – sorry Nude, hey Nubian or a cross between the Bedouins and the Nubes? The worrying bit here is the number of the costly by elections taking place and we should not be encouraging this in a maturing democracy such as ours. Look at Ghana and her political standing. You won’t find MPs crossing the floor anyhow because they practice politics of serving the people and not self and what wonderful things are happening to that country at the moment.
The beef scandal or smear campaign as alleged by the CEO should be investigated thoroughly. Check these guys (Zambeef) out and see what kind accessories they have been importing into the country such as additives, preservative, spices and all the rest of it. If you find any traces of embalming chemicals then they are as guilty as charged. Do not hound them out on political which hunt because you the people are the ones that are going to suffer! Zambeef seems to be a well run and successful business and shooting them down for no reason would be synonymous to shooting yourselves in both legs. They can pack their bags and leave the country and what will become of the business and their employees? If found guilty, huge fine and imprisonment is the only recourse to deter would be perpetrators..
From Zambia Railways to Zambeef. Hot news.
employing our citizen does not mean they have a right to even poison us .
WAMVWA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
^^^^ ‘political witch hunt^^^^^ rathe
HH Thanks is surely a mature one..If he goes this way of Politics he can become President of Zambia in the future. I hope he continues and not revert back to the old ways of insults when doing Politics…On the other hand Chipimo this time around has shown some immaturity in the way he has put his statement, however i understand his pain of losing an election when he thought he had a strong candidate. One thing he should not forget Mr.Patrick Ngoma has always won that seat.

just add in front of the below, LT blocked my url ‘http://’

Question that springs to mind is why he is even bothered to want to rule a broke country like Zambia when his wealth will soon equal the GDP of the poor nation I would be in the Bahamas sipping on gin and juice or hammering some Long Island teas down and champers surrounded by some of the hottest blondes that wanna have fun. I think I need to call him and show him how to spend his shekels rather than waste his life aspiring to be leader of the lost cause.

Just be like Abromovich and find a team to buy in Zambia and transform Zambian football by bringing world class footballers to Zambia just for the heck of it.
HH tel the nation & condemn Zambeef scandal.U re a public person who speaks fr the mases just as u ve spoken abt subsidies, organisng CSOs & mini bus drivers..
Better from opposition. They are starting to realise they need to campaign and get votes, not dream about government resigning

HH and Chipimo are bitter. there is no way HH can congratulate PF.HH give us a statement on what is going on there concerning zambeef i heard you are wadyaka ngombe
I like the simplicity in language from HH this time around. Thumbs up bro! You still have the youth in you, so don’t panic. For now let MCS deliver to the people for every ones benefit. Chipimo sounds unnecessarily poetic and bitter.
Am just dismayed with all you celebrating this victory! these opposition parties are vital, they need to work hard and pull up their socks, we need them, how else are we going to give the government a run for “their money?”! yes it’s feels good when your party wins but bear in mind that things have to be balanced here, HH and the other opposition leaders may not be handy but we need them, they may go over board but we have to have them around, i bet you get what am getting at? You even congratulating kwati mulewamya, iwe ka chipimo dont get satistifield pull up your sleeves ala!
If only HH exhibited maturity like this at a frequency, people will warm to him.

Both Chipimo and HH are well educated individuals, there are not dull PF is using state funds to squeeze the opposition..No one stays in power for ever time for HH and Chipimo will come soon.
They can be educated in other areas, not politics. You may be right about the right time coming for the opposition. I contend that by then their current strategies would have changed. These are parties that just rise up to make noise on particular events.
In terms of their real agenda and true identity on what kind of regime they want no one knows. What is their thrust? I think their policies in the main remain similar to what MMD and/or PF have already espoused. What may differ are strategies, emphasis, determination, public appeal etc. This is why I say these fine details are difficult to sell to the masses. they do not have the time and luxury to sit and analyse your complex schoolwork economic theories. What the masses want to hear are simple staements that sum up what you stand…
Ok, HH now is behaving like a president for the first time. Like this, people may start thinking of you. Not those insults , hatred and frustration you are used to. On this one I congratulate you. Chipimo seems to have taken from you your bad behaviour. Chipimo sounds bitter, frustrated and childish.
Peace and prosperity to mother Zambia.
This is what you call maturity. Do you think if the PF had lost they would have congratulated their contenders??
Yes, they could have. PF is the most civilised party around in Zed.
i wish to congratulate pf for scooping feira seat, bear in mind that there is a lot of work to do to the people who voted for you, promises should be fulfilled at all cost. hh well written article and it carries a lot of mature language , congrats that is the way we should go. as for ngoma patrick do what you have promised the people since you are in govt now. we will be waiting for the huge development you promised the people of feira.
