Nkana escape to beat Blades

Share

Zambia striker Festus Mbewe scored a hat-trick as Nkana beat Konkola Blades 4-2 in Kitwe on Saturday to maintain their lead at the top of the Super Division.

Mbewe launched the onslaught with a 12th minute goal against the run of play before his team mate Donashano Malama scored an own goal on 39 minutes.

The two teams went to the half time break with scores tied at 1-1.

But Blades scared Nkana after the restart when they led 2-1 via a Francis Simwanza 57th minute goal.

However, Reynold Kampamba equalised 12 minutes later tapping in a Kelvin Mubanga cross.

This was before Mbewe again put Nkana in the lead with a long range shot two minutes later and completed his hat-trick with a late penalty.

Mbewe would have scored four goals in this six goal thriller had Chingola referee Kebby Madiaby not disallowed his 52nd minute goal

Meanwhile, Nkana have increased their tally to 29 points, two clear off second placed Zesco United, who thumped Lime Hotspurs 4-0 in Ndola on Saturday.

  1. Nalelo eee ba Nkana bawina Nalelo eee ba Nkana bawina! we are all Devils we are all Devils. Anyone remember Situmbo?

    • I was there, and I remember how we were pushing each other from side to side as we supported our beloved Nkana. Well well well, such distant memories and so refreshing! And yes I remember Situmbo.

  2. job well done nkana and zesco. You two are indeed our national teams. Can someone please explain to me what sate sate kampamba has done to renard? The boy is simply a genius but is always left out. Chipolopolo is struggling to score and yet we have good strikers in the local league.

  3. WHY do you Lusaka Times fellas dislike NKANA so much?
I mean, what’s your real beef with KALAMPA? You always have these crappy headlines that always aim at taking the shine out of Nkana’s hard earned achievements. Enough with that already before you force us to lead the nation into a nationwide black-out of your makeshift paper!
Last warning. Don’t say you were not warned!

  4. Nkana against Blades was very entertaining though we saw sam poor officiating from the Referee.Sate-Sate en Renard issue is a bit complicated,it can only b explained by Renard himself.”Kalampa,u deserve 2 b da League Leaders-I saw sam gud football.”Sharp Konkola Blades 4 lyf!

    • So Power has continued to lose despite replacing the Coach. What remains to be replaced now is the same Management or indeed some players.
The point I want to tattoo on people managing our game in various Clubs is patience for results and in depth analysis of situations. The desire to fire Coaches has become shockingly common among Clubs and all one concludes is paralysis of analysis.
That aside Iam saddened by the loss by Warriors to Nchanga.

  5. Renard, wherever u are ,why are u not including Sate Sate ?We need scorers like kampamba please.Bravo Nkana!

  6. Nkana for life, i can see the 12th tittle Coming. i asked SATE SATE KAMPAMBA the problem with RENARD, HE TOLD ME THAT HE IS NOT CORUPT.

  7. Nkana supporters calm down. the league does not end in June ..yes the journalist used the right word scare, they went down 1-2 and came back to win, they could have lost.

As for Sate Sate, nothing new, back in the days a lot of us hated Ken Mwape because he was useless and stopping penaulty kicks. We wanted the coaches to put Ghost Mulenga in goal, then there are players like Mbesuma’s father Francis Kajiya who I thought was good and overlooked for national call duty, he was by far better than Pele Kaimana who was a regular..that is just football, Sata continue working hard..that is my advise

    • The sports reporter should be replaced. You should also advice him that the game ends after 90 Minutes why was he so excited when we were down.4 to 2 Ati escape shaa.
