United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema has challenged the Patriotic Front government to clearly state how much was budgeted for the by-elections that have continued to drain tax payer’s money.
Mr. Hichilema has also accused the Former Deputy Minister of finance Mr. Miles Sampa of not telling the truth by giving contradictory statements on how much of the contingence budget was allocated for by-elections.
Mr. Hichilema has advised Mr. Sampa to learn to take shape and never deceive the Zambian people who really need to know how much monies are being spent on by elections that were not budgeted for.
Mr. Hichilema added that it only is fair for government to come out clearly and tell the nation the truth as people in the country are not ready to listen to statements that are not making any good for the country.
Meanwhile Mr. Hichilema has maintained that he will not apologize to Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa for having accused him of using part of the money saved from the removal subsidies to donate to Lusaka’s Matero BIGOCA church.
Mr. Hichilema has also warned that it is unwise for Mr. Sampa to start issuing out threats that he will take legal action towards him only because Mr. Hichilema was allegedly telling the truth.
Mr. Hichilema states that he is entitled to his opinion on any issue affecting the people and thus there is nothing wrong for him to say Mr. Sampa got the money saved from the removal of subsidies and donated to the named church.

You first read the constitution on by-election then count the cost,if an MP is expelled then ECZ don’t hold a by-election for that constituency then someone has to go to court and explain why,someone can easily be prosecuted for not following the constitution,besides ,HH will still come back and say the stipulated time given is 3 months to hold by-elections,this guy does not know what to do for the time being.

I wonder why people like HH take issue with spending money on bye-elections. Our constitution allows for MPs to cross the floor and therefore, bye-elections which are caused by the crossing are perfectly legal and PF has done nothing wrong in this regards. The ones guilty of crime is MMD who engaged in corruption and bribery in the 2011 general elections which led to the petitioning of results from 60 constituencies. If MMD had not engaged in bribery and corrupt acts, we would not have those bye-elections and everything would be perfectly normal. In Summary, MMD is the cause of all this and as a party, they should be very ashamed.

I think it is only proper that those in government provide answers to questions such as the one raised by HH. When members of the opposition demand answers to issues such as the one tabled above, I believe they are speaking on behalf of the silent majority. Accountability is cardinal for any leader from the bottom to the top. After all, they are not ruling over themselves but the people who elected them in the first place. Provide facts and figures in order to put this to bed.

We all know that the GRZ is almost bankrupt, with a bloated GRZ of over 78 ministers and Deputies.How can one Ministry have 5 PS, 6 Deputy Ministers. What do these guys actually do plus 800litres of free fuel per month. I guess this ids development to PF cadres.Not even KK had such a bloated cabinet but at least was able to build some infrastructure.Why take RDA to state house when the Auditor General can never audit the President?

I will start believing what the opposition is saying when they come up with a more credible and democratic way of filling parliamentary seats other than through elections, general, bye- or otherwise. So far, the most democtratic way that Zambians have approved is the way we are going. So, suck it up and grow a pair opposition. How elese do they expect vacant parliamentary seats left open by their defecting MPs to be filled? By appointment by the ruling party?
Since HH is concerned with the cost of having elections, he should support the increasing of presidential term from five to eight years.
