First Lady Dr. Christine Kaseba has urged Mkushi residents to maximise the services that are being offered by the Mobile Hospital Unit that commenced operations in the district on Monday.

Gracing the official launch of the 8 day Mobile Hospital service at Mkushi Show Grounds, Dr. Kaseba encouraged residents to turn in large numbers for the 8 days of this program.

Dr. Kaseba also spent time at the District Hospital where she was orienting Health Workers on skills pertaining to management of Cervical Cancer Patients.

Meanwhile, delegation Leader for the mobile hospital unit Dr. Welani Chilengwe stated that mentorship of Health Staff and skills transfer were amongst other services that are included in the program.

Dr. Chilengwe explained that the 2 services were recently incorporated in order to consolidate the management of various illnesses incuding Cervical Cancer.

He further added that the mobile outreach program had generally been well received in other parts of the country.

He said that the program was likely to surpass the 3000 residents target that had been initially projected for Mkushi.

“if possible, we can even serve the whole community”, he remarked.

Dr. Chilengwe assured residents that the program included many services, adding that the services were being conducted promptly on daily basis.

A complete unit of mobile hospital fleet of trucks arrived in Mkushi on Sunday before commencing operations on Monday.

Mkushi District last received mobile hospital service early last year.

  1. Am I the only one who feels that the Minister of Health and that Katema guy at Ministry of Mother Child & Ipsum (or whatever) have been totally overshadowed by our pretty globetrotting First Lady?

Am I the only one who perceives that she’s on the front pages EVERY SINGLE DAY?

….sorry but I’m getting a bit tired. Anyway, 1.2 million voters apparently aren’t.

    • True > Sata should simply have declared her MINISTRESS OF HEALTH . Her and Masebo are always in print media. Big girls really get exited.

    • I wouldnt mind the Doc to be our president, so far shes the best candidate in both the current government and the opposition, i love her…….she has the personality, education and the know how, shes well travelled and above all shes a mother, meaning she is better intuitive than these men boxing their egos against each other, what will it take for her to stand come 2016?

    • She is certainly in the media because she is actually a public figure and what she is doing is simply commendable.

Please compare this work with MMCI which ended up in the financial scandals of Global Fund money.

She was a doctor before becoming first lady (and a very specialised one at that, trained at the UK’s best medical school – Imperial College London). It would be a shame to see her leave all that skill knowledge and her position of influence because a minister here and there is not working.

    • Sure folks. These mobile hospitals were condemned by the PF while still in opposition.POSA? That too.Now they are useful to people who do not yet have access to medical facilities the way town folks do.

  2. MMD you worked! Now even the PF Health Minister at Large , is posing around with Mobile Hospitals. If only the PF would apologise to Zambians for the hate and slander they preached when these mobile hospitals were ordered. And please can Dr Kasonde step down in the national interest. We can’t have two Ministers of Health. And by the way who is responsible for the shortage of ARVs and BCG? Is it Kasonde or Kaseba?

  3. RB vindicated yet again. Now what is the point of visiting these mobile hospitals if they dont have drugs because the money to buy drugs has been used to entice political prostitutes to cross the line?

  4. Weren’t these the same mobile hospitals the PF Party were condemning when they were in opposition? I am enjoying every bit of the contradictions, Madam First Lady.

  5. So those things are useful huh! What about the Lexus SUV’s that were alleged to have been stolen, the Gold and et al.Kind of disapointed with the petty charges shi Andrew is facing considering the publicity of his alleged grand theft of the National Treasury.
