Government has commended Lotus Way International School for investing in the country’s education sector and human capital development.
Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary (PS) for Technical Services Kelvin Mambwe further praised the founders, Board members and management of the school for transforming their vision into reality.
Dr Mambwe says the school has significantly contributed to the country’s educational journey aimed at preparing young people for success in an increasingly interconnected world.
The PS who was represented by Director of Secondary Education Yvonne Chulu said this in Lusaka last evening when he officiated at the Lotus Way International School launch.
The launch of the school held at Mulungushi International Conference Centre was celebrated under the theme, “cultivating future global citizens.”
Dr Mambwe said establishing a school is the best investment any society can make because education remains central to national development and human progress.
He also acknowledged the leadership of the school’s Board Chairperson for its commitment to educational excellence and international cooperation, which has been instrumental in bringing the institution to life.
He noted that the school’s vision seeks to create a learning environment where learners develop global perspectives, build meaningful cross-cultural relationships and acquire knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the future.
The Permanent Secretary said Lotus Way International School presents an innovative model of education by integrating the Cambridge curriculum with the Zambian curriculum while promoting foreign language learning and intercultural understanding.
He explained that the approach will equip learners with strong academic foundations, cultural awareness and the adaptability required in a rapidly changing world while ensuring they remain grounded in local values and identity.
Mr Mambwe described the school’s motto, “Your Pathway to the World,” as timely and inspiring, noting that quality education expands opportunities and enables young people to engage confidently with the global community.
He further stated that the government welcomes initiatives that expand access to quality education, encourage innovation and strengthen international cooperation while supporting national development priorities.
Dr Mambwe encouraged the institution to pursue excellence and cultivate partnerships that enrich learning and broaden opportunities for its learners.
He also called on parents to actively support the school, saying
Strong collaboration between families and educators is critical to the growth and development of children by producing graduates who are knowledgeable, responsible and ready to contribute positively to society.
Meanwhile, Lotus Education Group Chairperson Tian Ding noted although Zambia and China are separated by distance, the two countries share a long-standing relationship built on trust, mutual respect and cooperation.
Ms Ding further noted that Zambia’s abundant resources, vibrant economy and hardworking people inspired the establishment of the school.
She explained that the school seeks to serve as a bridge between the past and the future by helping learners appreciate their heritage while developing a global outlook.
She added that the institution also aims to strengthen understanding between nations, cultures and different ways of thinking.
She further observed that rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, digital technologies and globalisation require learners to possess not only academic excellence but also creativity, adaptability, communication skills and cross-cultural understanding.
The Chairperson said the school aspires to nurture learners who think independently, explore courageously, respect others and contribute meaningfully to society where professionals, innovators and leaders contribute positively to Zambia and the global community.
