THE Patriotic Front (PF) central committee has appointed a caretaker district chairperson for Lusaka district office following the confusion between the group in support of President Michael Sata’s endorsement as sole party candidate for 2016 presidential elections and those opposed.

As a result of the fracas that started on August 31, 2013 the pro-endorsement camp went on rampage breaking and replacing locks to block the district committee led by Goodson Banda which has since been hounded out of office.

The grill door to the office was welded to door frame making it impossible for anyone to access the office.

From August 31 the offices located on Freedom way had been shut until yesterday when deputy inspector general of police Solomon Jere led a group of officers to help open the premises.

But yesterday, the PF appointed Chawama constituency chairman Robert Chikwelete to seat in until elections are held for new office bearers.

Mr Chikwelete would work with the interim district secretary Julius Komalo until September 20, 2013 when the central committee would hold a meeting on the way forward.

After making sure the office was opened amid heavy presence of police in riot gear Dr Jere said that the police would not allow anyone to continue causing confusion at the PF district office.

“We need peace and unity. So whoever will cause confusion, we will pounce on them,” he said.

Dr Jere also told Mr Chikwelete that as a caretaker he should not remove anything from the office but merely operate from there.

Asked about the development Mr Chikwelete said that the party had appointed him to take charge of the district office until elections were held.

“Yes what I can say is that the party has appointed me to take over the office until elections,” he said.

He said that he would take stock of all property in the office in the presence of police officers before taking over.

Earlier in the day, youths in Lusaka and Sibuyunji districts called on the party leadership to quickly find a way of uniting the youths in the party so that peace could once prevail in the party.

The youths have since called for the holding of meetings at district, provincial and national levels to find ways of uniting the party and put a stop to the divisions among youths and some party officials.

Sibuyunji District Youth Chairperson, Pearson Kolala and Lusaka District Youth Chairperson, Yelisa Kondowe said that PF leaders should work together and find way of ending the wrangles which have rocked their party.

  1. But why was Solomon the musician turned cop issuing instructions on behalf of PF. Is it the duty of the POLICE to ensure they witness chikwelete taking stock of items in the office.

That is a PF issue. This shows that the PF and the PF Police are acting as one.

  2. Well well…the chickens have come home to do their thing. This is normal in any organisation where leadership is aloof and lacking. These are PF internal matter sto resolve, but I have one issue that has me deeply concerned and it is this:

Why does it have to take the Entire Deputy Inspector General to coordinate and command this operation? Isn’t this the type of operation that can be done by a very junior person at District level, for that matter?

Yes, I believe in hands on operations, but when you have structures in place and people paid to do these jobs why is Jere doing this? Aren’t there strategic planning issues he is supposed to be attending to than do these tactical type of work meant for foot soldiers.

    Am deeply concerned.

    • The question is why is he doing PF work? Since when does a top cop work to organise a political party? If PF need security junior cops would have done that…

On another note seem PF is now scared of its own party youths

    • What is worst here is that Jere is issuing directives. What is Jere’s business if PF decide to remove material from there to another location?

      Extremely worried!!

    • He is a lazy man and covering up through for show type of approach to policing. Jere is more of a party official than a police officer.

  3. Seriously? The deputy IG making sure that PF issues at their offices are being done properly? Lets see what his role will be if UPND or NAREP decide to have endorsement issues and lock each other out of their offices. If you didn’t know what partisan means, this is the best example you will ever find!

  4. Uh….. isn’t it illegal to weld bars on someone’s door and lock them out of their office? It sounds like an internal coup. Why haven’t the culprits been charged?

  5. Hoodwinked, you have summed it up. Jere can never again deny being PF inclined. He is supposed to be doing strategic planning but alas. Just talking!

  6. It’s just politics of hunger and desperation. The presidential endorsements are unnecessary this early into power by the incumbent. This has led to people believing there will be a power vacuum soon at the top. The best that can happen at this moment is for the head of state to come out and quash these wrangles by stating the status quo. By my watch, the PF have been in power for 1yr 11months and 13days! How then do you start campaigning just after being ushered into government? Just take a minute of thought all you blogger and wherever you may be at the moment – have you ever experienced daily politics of this nature? If yes, please inform us which country that may be. Yes, politics affect all of us but we do not want everything to stop by these protracted infightings.

  7. He should have replaced him with Soldier Blue with the machine gun in the foto, all them making noise could have scampered like flies.

  8. The grill door to the office was welded to door frame making it impossible for anyone to access the office. kikikikikikikikiki

  9. A house divided against itself cannot stand. Days of hero worshiping people like MCS even when they are not performing are long gone. The man has run out of steam and is not bothered with what is going on or seems to be giving that impression. I honestly do not see any reason for endorsing him for 2016 unless it is for selfish reasons.

  10. PF I think its own funeral….we don’t have to enter fear, we are just viewers and our role as viewer kusekafye…

    • The greatest fear is that the country will end up crashing. No one is looking at the dials in the cockpit as the altimeter indicates loss of altitude, fuel, you name it…

  11. The Australians have ushered in the best of the worst because the Labor party spent its entire term in office behaving like the PF!!! I hope Zedians will this time around keep their wits about them and remember we do not need a party bickering its way through its term!

  12. Completely party matter.PF sort out those spoiled members and concentrate on developmental issues, dissipline is key to organization.

  13. Iwe Jere, don’t issue orders about who misuses the political office.let chikwelete do whatever.until you receive a complaint that’s when you can act.thats not a police office. why being worried?.when are you going to be profenals yaaba policeman?

  14. @cindy, I can see that you have a buzz for oozies. The guy looks menacing but I hope he can handle the heat and be able to pull the trigger when push comes to shove. But hang on a minute…who is he going to slay? My cousins, friends, sister, brother, friend, uncle, innocent child?…let’s enjoy peace and harmony forever! We are Zambians and known for our hospitable nature and peaceful trends. We are not the happiest but most peaceful people in the world. The government needs to unite us rather than divide us.

    • @Confused.com; look how the politicians and their kind have taken advantage of this attribute of peace loving. The our dear leader can appoint his family left, right and centre without fear of any mumur. Pathetic!

  15. PF from day 1 set in motion a plan to kill UPND & MMD using all sorts of tactics including bribing. Now the PF cadres who were ignored have now turn against the PF leadership. What we are witnessing here is just the beginning of some serious ‘PF civil war’.

  16. PF is going down
“When power leads man toward arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man’s concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses”

  17. Let them fight….mwilamwina! Too much mouthing off and imaginary muscle. Lets see who has the real muscle here….FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT….chipaye, no lamwina!
