Police say the protest staged by PF cadres who marched to State house yesterday to demand the removal of party Secretary General Wynter Kabimba was sanctioned.
Acting Police Spokesperson Mwaata Katongo has told QFM News that contrary to assertions that Police allowed the cadres to march without a permit, the PF cadres followed all procedures as stipulated in the Public order Act by giving the police notice within the stipulated period of time.
Ms Katongo says yesterday’s demonstration by PF cadres was therefore not illegal but one sanctioned by the Zambia Police Service.
She adds that it is for the same reason that there was a heavy presence of Police to ensure there order during the demonstration.
Ms Katongo has since commended the leaders of the protesters for ensuring that peace prevailed during the demonstration.
Meanwhile Ms Katongo has confirmed an incident in which woman believed to be a Minister’s wife escaped death this morning after she hit into a locomotive in Kamwala area.
Meanwhile cadres aligned to PF Secretary General Wynter Kabimba this morning stormed Police Deputy Inspector General Solomon Jere’s office to seeking intervention over the conduct of some PF cadres who were party those who protested against Mr Kabimba yesterday.
Dr. Jere has since summoned the leaders of the PF cadres who demonstrated at State house yesterday.
I`m tired of these cadre stories.I hope we will see an end to this nonsense now that the president has come out to condemn the endorsements.Long live Wynter kabimba !!!
This is a way for King Cobra to validly remove Kabimba.
Who the hell stopped the “endorsement”? That’s the only exciting campaign the PF has done best since the “Donti Ukubeba”.
He said there is no need to endorse because no one has propposed now we are being told that some poeple in choma have proposed so endorsment can start I guess. The president never wanted to show support to either GBM or Kabimba on the other hand poeple were asking him to voice out on the same issue. Now we are going to here the proposal and re-proposal coming from all over. So GBM’s mition continuou.
Now the acting spokesperson say those poeple were marching legally and even commends the organisers while deputy IG summons the same organisers?
Bufi, malabishi!
Ok good to know !
Kabimba is a complete id*ot,& all those having faith in him are big fooooooooools! how i wish him fired…..
A country gone to the DOGS
If it was sanctioned why did your president Ukwa say they should have been arrested?
Ulekwata uchinshi mwaiche.Sata is like your father.Just because you don’t like him politically doesn’t mean that you have to disrespect him in the manner you have been doing on this blog.Tawakula bwino mwaiche iwe.
@Advisor, be advised, this mentality of falling back to the African mentality that an adult even when he is erring should be respected just because they are the age of our parents is retrogressive. When one takes to public office, they take on all that comes with that that goes with public space. “Walila mvula, walila matope.” This attittide makes fickle old men and women behave awkwardly and think they will be treated with reverence because they are old. Some age gracefully others dont and ought to be rebuked. I dont subscribe to that mentality. An old man or woman wants respect, they should earn it! If one cant take the heat, get out of the kitchen, period! Enough said.
Umuchishi for a useless old man who is supposed to be a village head man… can not even think like a 76 year old. You can respect him if you want… i will respect him when he starts respecting us period
Awe chachine takula bwino umwaiche.
Maybe he was born as ichinkula no wonder he has no respect.Lol
Icho chintu !! ke ke ke.
@Advisor, Harry, Mutale
If your fathers were mentally challenged imbeciles, feel free to call every other mentally challenged imbecile you encounter your father. It is right and fitting that you do so.
Don’t expect the rest of us to do the same.
Zabwino palibe for the opposition, but it is always the opposition that forms govt.
Ok point taken.
I feel very sorry for the embarrassment the Police are causing themselves and us taxpayers. Did they issue those cadres a permit or not? What about the Muvi TV footage were the police tried in vain to stop the cadres several times until they reached state house? You even praise the cadres for peace, what about that big woman who was beaten as captured by TV cameras? By the time PF is done there will no Police service in Zambia.
What about the cadre shown on the disgraced Post newspaper of 17-09 dancing in his underware right on top of a police van which in effect is indecent exposure and was obviously not arrested?
So many contradictions, wish the Freedom of Information Bill was inacted as I would demand to see this application that should have been made a week before the march for the police to grant the cadres a permit. The police are unprofessional, trying to cover up the fact that they are impotent where PF cadres are concerned. Contradiction of terms, a violent peaceful march. Kwaliba?
I am sure you would not like to see it for for poor English on that paper if it exists.
If only these Police Chiefs were quizzed in front of parliamentary select committees in public.
So, Ukwa didn’t know!
They allow cadres and refuse the opposition?
With the power that these cadres have been given, what I see is that a week’s protests at State House, Sata can be ousted! Any president must watch protests with two eyes open!
Zambia Police will never cease to amaze me. They are shameless, spineless bootlickers. Your explanation about the legal protest is silly and you expect Zambians to believe the stupid story? Can you explain why the opposition’s legally given permits are always withdrawn and why others are never granted? What special skills do PF cadres have t obtaining permits?
What else do you expect from a politicised and/or compromised and unprofessional police force (PF)?
That’s why ZP are all grade seven mentality. It’s in black and white that they didn’t have a permit. These are just lies. Anyway, the junior police office will be forgiven because they only take commands. As for the police chiefs, we are taking note. You better find an income generating project because after 2016 you will all be fire for be ping unprofessional. You won’t be retired but fired
According to the Tuesday Post on page 4,
Home affairs Deputy Minister was asked a question if cadres had police permit for them to hold a protest march and he said:
“The issue of permits…we need to deal with a situation as it is being presented. They may tell you that probably they informed the police for them to get this far and the police to allow them, they have notified the police.”
The above statement sounds like the protesting cadres had protection of very senior PF members and the Police could do nothing about about it.
So now the Police, who are supposed to be the custodians of the law, have resorted to lie to the Nation. What kind of illness is this? So now who is going to maintain law and order effectively if the Police can lie shamelessly like this? Or are the Police trying to say the President is the one lying since he asked why the Police have not arrested the PF cadres?
This government was born of lies and lives by lies. This is why honest Zambians have grown to hate this enterprise.
Useless police!
I am sorry to say the Zambia Police Service is disgusting. Really annoying. What kind of incompetence is this.
Yes, the PF cadres were right to march. As Zambians, they did not need a “permit” to march peacefully. The “permit” issue is a creation of Zambia Police Service outside Zambian statutes. Sue them and you will hear what the court will say about the Public Order Act. You only need to “inform” the police. They do not have to give your “permission” as though you are in a kids schoolroom or prison camp.
What is this? Where are the government officials at the Ministry of Justice, Home Affairs and even Parliament? This is total lawlessness. This Zambia is mine too, without having to belong to any political party or being a relative or friend to any so-called big fish…
DONT BE SHORT SIGHTED. IN ZAMBIA WE PRACTICE POLITICS OF “PULL HIM DOWN” (phd). IN THE NAME OF FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION AND ASSEMBLY, PEOPLE OPPOSED TO THE RULING PARTY HAVE BEEN WANTING TO INCITE A REVOLT, VIOLENCE AND RIOTS BECAUSE OF BITTERNESS FOR LOSING THE ELECTIONS. THERE SHOULD BE A WAY OF CURBING THAT. IT WILL BE FOOLISHNESS ON THE PART OF THE POLICE TO ALLOW A RALLY TO GO AHEAD WHEN THEY KNOW THAT ITS OBJECTIVE IS TO CAUSE CHAOS AND MAKE THE COUNTRY UNGOVERNABLE. IF THE POLICE ALSO KNOW THAT THEY DONT HAVE MANPOWER TO POLICE A RALLY THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO DISALLOW SUCH A RALLY. IMAGINE IF SOMEONE WANTS TO HOLD A RALLY AND DEMONSTRATIONS IN A BUSY STREET LIKE CAIRO ROAD. THAT WILL BE CHAOTIC. AND MANY PEOPLE WHOSE LIVES ARTE RISKED ARE NOT EVEN INTERESTED IN THESE DEMONSTRATIONS.
Strange that the PF cadres demo was sanctioned by Police and this included lynching their PF Member of Central Committee in State House grounds. The Police are well advised to discharging their jobs professionally.
Dr. Jere’s response to Kabimba’s camp is degrading his own status and integrity. What will the Police gain over an event that is part of history? We pray for the day when normality will be restored after admitting their leader and the whole lot of them to Chainama Mental Hospital.
This is very irresponsible Police that’s plot one you are letting koponyas go
What if things got out of hands, the president’s life would have been in danger
That’s why he said they should have been arrested,
Ubupuba pa ZED, nothing with substance is being talked about apart from ubushilu, ubupuba, amafi. I think most of the heads are filled with nothing but garbage. A turn around for the better is necessary.
2016 is coming. Remember that. 1 term government
continue dreaming. PF will win 2016. HH will get southern province and Pastor Mumba, Eastern Province kwasila. yaba………………………..it really hurts and will hurt you more in 2016
For police to say those ‘political dogs’ were issued with a permit its a blue lie. Why were they struggling to contain them in the first place? If they were from the opposition, no doubt they would have been tear gassed without warning. Police just want to cover themselves from further embarrassment. They are PF police unit. And Kabimba, secretary general of Pamafi, are you? For sure you cant be tipped as SG,MJ that some fools are playing hid and seek behind your back. Get my advice, a ha leave PF and join the opposition. you will be comfortable than being in this riffraff governance system.
PF sucks…..
By the way, who has signed request for the permission to hold “peaceful” demonstration?
PF are really a bunch of i d iots. Can’t they see Sata ha no brains left in his head. His speeches have become hollower by the day. I bet you by 2016 he will be fully demented. PF is holding the country back with their mad president.
The Police have no shame. They know it is a lie that PF cadres notified the police. The demos were sponteneous. What time did they have to notify the police? The police spokesperson even exposes her stu.pidy by claiming that the PF informed the police within reasonable time. What is a reasonable time? Don’t play around with words as if the people you are addressing are foolish. This time around the police have been exposed. There is irrefutable proof now that the police are nothing but an extension of the PF militia. They were rendered hopeless when the cadres were demonstrating. In fact they feared cadres could manhandle them. We all noticed how the police behaved. Shame on the Police; shame on Sillyman Jelly; shame on Stella Libongani. You are all useless. Just resign you idio.ts.
sata cant be respected with his vulgar lunguage. an old man of his age deserving respect cant tease HH on account that he doesnt know his fathers name, its rather too personal than political. no wonder i believe sata is the one bitter
Yes it was sanctioned. Know why?
The applicant is no other than PF Cadre, “gate breaker” Deputy IG himself. Who can say No.
Proposing or endorsing. In this context I don’t know the difference.
Can someone educate me the difference in this given context?
To Propose is to suggest, recommend or put forward while to endorse is to give your approval to, give your support to or give your backing to. Meaning after puting forward Sata’s name for 2016 if some people accept that, then endorsements follow as a way of supporting the proposal or motion.
Hope you can now deduce the contrast.
This is the wate kind of police we have. Tell me Mr. Mwaata whatever your rank or lank(chizungu mwee).
The cadres had two demos.
(1) The first one when they forced themselves into the PF offices and took over those offices by force (chikwelete group). Some were seen with Chibuku parks in the post newspaper and MV TV. Was that a peaceful demonistration?
(2) I still have a postnewspaper on my desk with some one naked in the police van and a lady I can identify as Mrs. Banda (balangizi) being dragged. Was this a peace demonistration?
(3) This is very annoying Mr. Mwaata that you can issue such a blatant lie to a Zambian population of more than 12million.
