Police in Lusaka have permitted the opposition UPND to go ahead with their rally in Lusaka’s Mandevu compound.

UPND Deputy Secretary General Kuchunga Simusamba revealed that the police have assured the UPND that they will be available to provide security at the rally that is scheduled to take place on 6th October at Matambe ground in Mandevu.

“We would like to inform the nation that the Zambia Police have today, October 2 2013 responded to our letter notifying them of our intentions to hold a rally in Mandevu on Sunday. The Police has given us a go ahead and the rally is on,” Mr Simusamba said.

“We would like to urge members of the public to turn out in large numbers and be part of the people that will change this nation.”

Mr. Simusamba has applauded the police for allowing the UPND to enjoy its constitutional rights and liberties.
“As the UPND, we would like to thank the Zambia Police Service for granting us our rights and freedoms to assemble,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Black Friday Campaigners and other Civil Society Organizations have been granted permission to organize a peaceful public assembly to demand for the constitution on Friday, 4th October, 2013 at the Freedom Statue from 10:00hrs.

In commending the police for granting them a permit, Interim Chairperson for the Black Friday Campaign MacDonald Chipenzi expressed displeasure at the continued delay by the Technical Committee to release the final Draft Constitution to the President and the Zambian people simultaneous.

And Mr. Chipenzi also notes that the CSOs feel let down by government’s handling of the implementation of the NGO Act Number 16 of 2009.

“All those that want a good constitution should come forward on Friday and make their stance known, we want the document to be handed to the Zambians who are the real owners and to the President at the same time,” he said.

    • Well done PF cadres, its because of your behavior that the police have given in to make it an open game for all…VIVA CADRE

    • Just KEEP ON MOVING, HH, dawn is closeby! When the empty tins get noisier, you KEEP ON MOVING….AND MOVING!!!

    • This is a plus for the mighty PF!! No need to be worried by small parties like UPND that is struggling in distant number 3 behind MMD. Let us continue building roads, universities, hospitals, power stations, houses, airports, schools, chiefs palaces and communications towers, regional TV stations in all provinces, fight against corruption etc etc. By 2016, the opposition will irrelevant and mau-less

    • So what was the fuss all about?
@ Ndobo, the president is stranded in the US because of the famous SHUT DOWN……. no one in no one out!

    • @cindy
      strand in the USA??..kekekekekek
i will call my brother Nostradamus in the USA to try smuggle him out the USA by ship,, maybe he will back after 6 months

    • No can doubt that you are one of the Bembas who think can colonize others using you TRIBE you are one of the Bembas in a clique fighting wnyter Kabimba is talking about silly boy. Evil cant defeat UPND VIVA HH LONG LIVE ZAMBIA

    • REACTOR, YOU ARE A SILLY TRIBALIST.AM BEMBA AND I HATE THE LEADERSHIP STYLE OF SATA.2016 VIVA H.H.THE MAN OF GREAT WISDOM,AND ECONOMICALY FORECAST.

    • why should you as a PF cadre be on your tip toe waiting to hear from UPND??.. I thought your PF chief spokesmn mr kapeya said political parties should internalize their issues, so you wait for mr Sata, goerge chella or mr mr kapeya… and leave US who want and love critisim of PF/Sata to wait for HH to open his mouth

    • HH will tell the nation that he will work hard to reverse the impact on people’s living standards caused by PF ‘s poor policies. He will tell the people that Sata removed the subsidies, HH will be the president to reintroduce subsidies to cushion the poor.He will tell the people under, Sata prices of essential commodities have risen sharply in two years, HH will work hard to reverse the trend and lower prices of meali-mill through sound agricultural policies. He will also tell the people that he will reduce the cabinet so that the government wage bill is with in the bounds of the country ‘s GDP. He will say under him projects will properly costed to avoid theft. Under him corruption will be tackled head on. He will prioritise manufacturing and infrastructure to create sustainable jobs

    • Yes i`m anxious because unlike most people i happen to have an open mind.I want to know what he wants to do once he becomes the president. The problem we have in Zambia is that most politicians are too preoccupied with getting into state house such that they even forget to map out their game plan once they get into office. It is this reasoning which makes me to doubt the caliber of our opposition politicians. No one among them will be our messiah. We will just replace one problem with another if we voted any of them into power. It is about time Zambians looked at the bigger picture too. They can say Haleisa/Halenia(whatever that means)for now.

    • HH will make a pledge not interfere with the DEC, ACC ,Police and Judiciary operational matters .He will ensure that rule of law is up held by all citizens regardless of political positions. He tell them no one is above the law.

He will make a pledge to limit presidential powers. He will say , as president he will only have the power to appoint the cabinet and Army chiefs. Appointment of technocrats like PS , Judges, Leaders of parastatal institutions will be done on merit through a fair interview system. Head of the police service and the Chief Justice and their deputies will be appointed by a parliamentary committee comprising of an equal number of MPs from major political three major political parties. Once selected their names will be given to the president for symbolic approval.

    • @Wanzelu stop making speeches on his behalf. We all know how limited your fellow bantustan is in that line.HH lit-ole.

    • @Wanzelu
Nice sweet story you have got there. People have been through all the sweet talk by some of Zambia’s greatest con-men, KK, Kafupi and Sata. They all say the things you itemised but deliver zilch. HH could get the vote not because people believe he would deliver but a country got to have a president, any one, as long it’s not Sata, or RB, or KK.

    • Wanzelu, you really amaze me. You are Wanzelu indeed. Form a party and I will be your SG. You are speaking real democracy, real change. Not this dictatorship under PF.

  1. The berlin wall is again crumbling, wind of change is blowing from bashilubemba! You can never enslave GOD’s people for ever. May be winter who was in control of Edgar Lungu and the police want to show that without him PF is gone!

  2. Lets see what HH will say next is MMD to apply for a permit ,NAREP,PP and the mighty ABZ .Fr Bwalya please hold the rally in Kitwe and kabwe .We need you Fr Bwalya

  3. Even HH is no angel. Take over Republican president tomorrow, you will see how nasty people can be. Same difference. Even if he has money I have not yet seen a rich man constructing a road for public use. It all comes from govt resources. Once he gets Republican Presidency he will just go on to further enrich himself and his business associates. A lot many supporter will just eat crumbs. Some will never get anything apart from feeling of belonging to that party. Only liberal can help the masses. The appetite of the rich never ends. Keep trying, may be you can make it, but expect that rotten language from your supporters will head your direction as well. If and when you fail, blame yourself not the opposition that would be.

    • This is why we should bank the success of our democracy and development agenda on (1) a good constitution and (2) strong institutions e.g. Judiciary, ACC, Police, Parliament, DEC, BOZ etc. Placing our hopes on strong men (be it Sata or HH or Nevers) will always prove disappointing.

    • Good gesture Chitalu, as a saying goes there’s no super human on planet earth only Jesus is and can perform splendidly…!

    • Welldone PF cadres, its because of your behavior that the police have given in and made it an open game for all…VIVA CADRE

  4. Just waiting to hear what HH will say on the 6th. I hope and pray that his intentions is not to talk and preach tribalism. Zambia now needs a leader who will be focused on real issues affecting the people of Zambia and not leaders who,s interests are personal gain and character assassination.

  5. That’s gorgeous, but they must use the permit wisely not to insult others in the name of politics,no more permits if you misbehave bane.We don’t want the cops to regret having done so just because of people who always dream about green house.

  6. u can see how messed up Zambia is even followers r daft as the pipo they follow, shocking comment revelling how poor the education people have achieved…

  7. the statement made by the I.G when they exchanged words with the RATSA CEO. this is wat is making the government unpopular. that sounds like the IG is a carder. that speaks volumes hence allowing the opposition.

    • Now that Heleisa Halenya & his UPND faggots have been given permission how are they going to complain of dictatorship this time ???.Am reliably told they are not happy with this coz they won’t gain political mileage outta it….NYO!

  9. Great! Perhaps now we can progress towards having a healthy political debates from those seeking our vote – Regardless of party.

A step in the right direction. Well done PF

  10. This will not go with ukwa. When he comes he will fire the IG. He can’t take critism from HH. Bwana HH while u still at it,apply for another permit in Kasama. Ukwa will collpase this time around.

  11. my contribution is not on this useless rally thing. My point is that give a tonga responsibility he wont deliver. Look at kabimba. Now its this screen lover chatter box chibamba kanyama whose messing up with us. He has failed to run ZNBC its an institution in unprecedented confusion.

Just before news we were told the Cl match between man city/bayern would be televised but in chibamba’s tonga primitivity he sent his office orderly to buy a useless mexican movie from city market to show us. This so called economists who cant plan.
the job of the ceo is to control and direct affairs of the company, yet ka chibamba since coming to znbc hes made us sweat to watch football and ve proper programming.
Znbc has gone back to stone age era. Remove this haples failure, let him go and talk on…

  12. Now that Heleisa Helenya & his UPND faggots have been given permission how are they going to complain of dictatorship this time ???.Am reliably told they are not happy with this coz they won’t gain political mileage outta it….

  14. To bad for UPND and HH. These guys did not want to be given the permit. This means no political mileage for UPND. PF is clever than them. Shame ba Hakaivotela Heka… But its good to keep dreaming….

  15. @ george bush,i enjoyed your tribal sattire about us tongas,i assure you bro.we can deliver, already we deliver more beaf, cotton, maize and milk, there is your proof.the proof of the nsima is in the eating.

    • @ Puungwa. a typical tonganyoko indeed…No wonder in Bemba they say ..”Ubuchende ba HH Pungwa tasakama..”…please deliver more beef, cotton, maize & milk so that we can process for you Tonganyokos..

  16. Let the people talk and decide.

    Equal and fair coverage

    Equal and fair/levelled playing ground

Sometimes it is good to give enough rope to opposition parties to hang themselves, especially when the ruling party has a better program and visible deliverables, masses see through and compare with past experiences.
Known devil is better than unknown angels

In any case, the spirit of democracy shall remain burning and even if ruling party loses because the other one gave a better manifesto or spoke better or what the people wanted to hear—-if it fails—they come back running to known devil
Let the bird fly, it will come back

  17. By suppressing opposition, ruling party strengthens the resolve of the opposition and silently and quietly the voters also develop sympathy for them and vote for them
Better treat others with dignity and openness, fair opportunity to market themselves (or de-market themselves) and at least the ruling party is well informed of peoples’ feelings and what is expected of them.
Ban freedom of speech and assembly——-get ready for the unknown- no way they will tell you what you do not want to hear.

Freedom of speech and assembly is a sign of strength for the ruling party- an opportunity to know the inner side of the masses and also of opposition. Let them talk early much earlier than election time, so that based on feedback and response from the masses, ruling party adjusts its…

  18. Viva Viva HH an UPND. We love your courage. We only hope the PF cadres will not be there first. These patriotic fools are now irritating.

  19. HH, this is your last chance to convince me!
I am waiting eagerly to hear the issues you want to address.
Tell us what you want to do differently and please no temper tantrums because that is where you lose most of your Audience!
Perhaps give the platform to Canicious Banda so that we hear what alternative he has to offer for UPND.
    All the best nevertheless!

  20. Same name music. Politicians are just politicians, nothing so dramatic will change. Nothing has so strangely or dramatically changed since independence. We have been producing coppersince time in memirial and if we were developmentally oriented we could have achieved a lot. The colonialists used our copper to build Harare and Jo’burg, but we have failed to use our copper to drastically change the landscape of Zambia, why? We are good at misused, misappropriation and misapplication of copper proceeds. Politicians steal and go put the loot in developed world bank accounts, leaving that underdevopment tag real time. They stillfrom govt, parastatals, thats their way of life. Same same politicians, who stole through privatisation and now they are rich, they are still searching how to steal.

  21. HH is overestimating himself. He is in for a surprise. MMD is coming back to power after next Presidential elections next year, Yes, Saulosi and Mushota, in UpperCase, Presidential elections will be next year.

  22. UPND please don’t celebrate yet. If u do u are naive. Remember you were given permit to hold a rally in Kabwata? Remenber Judge Ngoma and his PF thurgs went to the venue early hours arround 04:00 hrs first to Sh!t on venue grounds, they then waited for u to arrive and started beating you up. So celebrate only after the rally not now – you are dealing with real kaponyas here guys.

  23. As Goerge Soros said ‘people have been talking about change and bringing the cost of living down, this is what every politician will campaign for, they all agree on this one thing, but tell me, since when did the cost of living start goin down from the inception of human beings? Every second a someone somewhere gives birth, the illusion that the cost of living will go down is suprising. ‘

    • Mumbi – you really can insult. Do you know that we shall one day account for these things especially if we do not confess them and accept Christ as our Lord and Saviour? Why would you insult a person like that? Surely, your hate is going to consume your destiny – hell- unless you repent and stop persecuting innocent people. If at all you read the Bible you would see how wicked people insulted and mocked Jesus when they did not even know Him well. I am not UPND but I know HH to be a gentleman who would never insult you back even if he knew you. Rather sad. I am not for insults. Watchdog was closed becoz of people like you. You were the same people who were hurling the biggest insults against our mothers and sisters in politics including Ministers and VIPs in PF. Stop it.

  24. Finally there is a bit of democracy in our beloved country…Bravo sata! PF cardres demonstrating against Kabimba have exposed PF Police so they can no-longer deny us permits. Lets demostrate against Acting chief justice, removal of subsidies, fake promises e.t.c

  25. HH HAS NEVER INSULTED SATA,THE PROBLEM WITH PF CADRES IS THAT THEY ALWAYS THINK USING TRIBAL BRAINS. WHEN HH TELLS THE NATION THAT PF HAS NO PLAN OF RUNING THIS COUNTRY,THEY SAY HH HAS INSULTED SATA.DONT WORRY THIS COUNTRY WILL BE LIBERATED FROM LIES OF PF VERY SOON,ONCE THE POLICE CONTINUE GIVING UPND PERMITS TO HOLD RALLIES,CHANGE IS COMING IN 2016 WHETHER I LIKE IT OR NOT.VIVA HH VIVA UPND,ZAMBIA FORWARD PF BACKWARD

  26. @ george bush my anus
The one that needs growing up is chibamba kanyama. He needs proper practical application of his skills not mare academic pronouncements.

  27. If the Zambia police had denied the UPND permission to hold the planned rally, you chaps could have cried foul. Now the Police grants them permission again you the same chaps say the Police were under pressure, which pressure are you yapping about?. What is wrong with some of you? Please do not just criticise anyhow and try to be objective.

    • Lucky Chanda Bweupe. The Public Order Act does not give police powers to grant or deny permission to hold a public meeting. It requires notifying the police.

Tired of stone age politics of manipulation of straight forward issues.

  28. The problem is that PF is full of brainless maggots. Instead of encouraging their cadres to stay away from the UPND rally, they will send them there to cause confusions being anarchists.

My advice to the ZP is that they send more officers ensure safety of the rally organizers. These PF militias will even put on UPND regalia, so watch out.

  29. I cant wait to hear what the Executive will say about the final draft of the constitution.
what can change this country is a people driven constitution not necessarily …the leadership
The President simply complies with the current provision of the const. which to a larger extent has been violated.Let us agitate for a referendum process as and adoption mode. As at now the political playing field is uneven.Nevetheless,I salute the IG for the permits granted.

  30. Watch out for Kaponyas who would like to tarnish the PF. They are now sharpening pangas. This is your chance DR Jere and sister Libongani to claim your damaged images. Waylay the thugs who want to deny Zambians their democratic rights and arrest all of them. That way they will find it unprofitable to destabilise our country. They are thugs, not party cadres. After all, what proof do they have that they belong to any party apart from chilenges which are usually dished out to anybody without showing eligibility. We are tired of stone age politics.

  31. Al well thinking Zambians should attend this rally. This is the rally of all rallies. It will be like the Pope square one which brough MMD to the fore. Speakers at this rally will include HH, Mumba, Milupi,Guy Scott, Machungwa, Kabimba and possibly RB if he makes it back in time. Surprised? A mixed grill isn’t it? Let all roads lead to this rally. Major pronouncements will be made at this rally. Kabimba will spill more beans at this rally. Need I say more?

  32. Seems like the tasteless PF baked PFolice cookie is crumbling.I’m glad most zambians didn’t take a bite out of that insipid cookie.
