Wynter Kabimba lashes out at Emmanuel Mwamba

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) secretary general wynter Kabimba has turned the heat on Information and Broadcasting Services permanent secretary Emmanuel Mwamba and the public media over what he calls politicization of the public media.

In a strongly worded letter addressed to Mr Mwamba and copied to public media heads dated October 3, 2013, titled ‘politicisation of the public media’, Mr Kabimba said in the last week he had seen several headlines against him in the public media.

He accused Mr Mwamba of trying to, “destroy the public media in order to please your paymasters and their cronies.”

“As secretary General of the Patriotic Front, I shall not sit back and allow such a situation to continue unabated to the detriment of national development. I have a duty to protect the majority interest of this country against turncoats whose objective is to serve narrow personal interests of their paymasters.”

He said he had seen several headlines against him in the Zambia Daily Mail and Times of Zambia which were so personal in nature and style that they were unexpected from the Government media against a sitting minister of Government.

“Your insidious activities since you assumed your new position come against the background when members of the public were beginning to show some confidence in the renewed professionalism in the public media under the PF government,” he said.

Mr Kabimba who is also Justice Minister in his letter recalled that two weeks ago, he telephoned Mr Mwamba to express his concern about the pronouncements advising the public media to discontinue the practice by some government ministers who wanted to be accompanied by preferred reporters while on duty outside Lusaka.

In the said telephone conversation, Mr Kabimba said he also advised Mr Mwamba to remain professional in the execution of his responsibility as Permanent Secretary.

Mr Kabimba wondered why the advice given by Vice president Guy Scott in an interview with the Post Newspaper dated September 29, 2013 had not been heeded by the public media.

He accused Mr Mwamba of not having the party’s interest at heart and accused him of feeding from ‘late former president Frederick Chiluba and former president Rupiah Banda’s plates’ at the time when he (Mr Kabimba) and others were building the PF.

He said as secretary general of the party, he was the custodian of the party’s manifesto which outlined all social and economic programmes of the Government.

“I am also the official spokesman of the party. In my various contacts and meetings with our party members and the general public, I am enjoined with the duty to inform them about the successes of the PF through government implementation of its programmes,” he said.

Mr Kabimba said he knew that this did not matter to Mr Mwamba since at the time when they were struggling to build the PF he was busy feeding from the late Dr Chiluba and Mr Banda’s plates.

“You are, therefore, not expected to show any sense of commitment or loyalty to this party. After all in the event of the PF’s failure to form government at any time in future, you shall move to another political party in government,” he charged

“You cannot in this respect be president Sata’s protégé more than me as you would want to project in the manner you intend to politicize the public media,” he said.

      – Wynter met DC’s from Northwestern, Western and Southern Provinces with a view to intimidate them. This project he of course failed.

    • When he forced chi GBM to turn to the gvt hated ZWD it was fine and non-political. Even when he destroyed Given Lubinda using the public media, it was well and good.   18. I think wynter you have gone too far. Mwamba is the most hard working PS I have ever come across.
    That man goes out of his way to make sure that his members of staff and the community he is serving are well looked after. That’s the reason why ba Sata moves him from province to Province and now at Minsitry Level. He is a peace maker and he does not hold a grudge against anyone.
    Am sure you have seen that ba Sata likes him hence the reason why you are attacking him. You think that he might be your competitor.
    To tell you the truth Mwamba is a million times better that you will ever be and futi tawakafikepo.

    • I agree with you on this point. Additionally, Emmanuel Mwamba and Geofrey Bwalya Mwamba may be related in a way, hence GBM’s fight is EM’s fight as well, GBM’s Enemy is EM’s enemy also, GBM’s intentions are equally EM’s, GBM’s region si EM’s region and finally the two share interests at very great levels.
      They lift and carry each other as brother’s ‘keepers’ because of having common enemy (Wynter) and common interest (Wynter’s down fall) and GBM’s ascendance to power.

I do not understand where the problems in PF are coming from when I see the big leaders exchanging blows and this what known as cold war but hot and the outcome as they hit each other, the grass will suffer. In my opinion is the president who is suppose to announce to all if he shall not stand for 2016 and it could be the reason why the PF leadership is building him a pension house as informed by the late Sakeni that they do not want to see their president suffer after he is out of office.

  38. Kabimba has gone CRAZY. As a nominated Minister of Justice and PF Secretary General, what kind of power leverage is he going to apply such that he can interfere in the management of the Ministry of Information and allied public media, such as the Daily Mail.

Further, Mwamba is a civil servant (and very hard working for that matter) and not a politician, what prevents him from serving government under different administrations?     (1) Transfer Malupenga from information and replace him with Mwamba.
    (2) Use Emmanuel Mwamba to vuvuzela for his tribe brother Geofrey Bwalya Mwamba.
    (3) Leave Chikwanda as Acting president to organise cabinet Bemba ministers and denounce Kabimba.
    (4) Kabimba emotionally to react and make a mistake. Then president Sata will have a chance to fire Kabimba.
    (5) Appoint Lubinda GS as tribe cover up.

    Take a good hard look at your political life, your life is your responsibility. The choices you made yesterday brought about the life you have today.
    The problem is that it is at the very core of human nature to blame other people, it is fundamental self preservation to try to escape accountability.

    You are the CEO of PF, hence what is happening is your responsibility and not Emmanuel Mwamba a civil servant. Remember that while you are passionately blaming someone else, your self diagnostic skills simply fall apart.

    You cannot change what you don~t acknowledge, because you will never, ever fix your problems blaming some one else. That is for losers, don~t be a sucker just because it hurts to admit the truth. You are the one screwing up.

  50. (1) If this happening was in UPND, there would have been a lot of talk about tribalism.
    (2) As Mmembe rightly points out, nobody from this clique complained when UPND was accused and written about tribalism.

    (3) But because now it is Bembas being accused of tribalism, it is wrong. But I have always known that these chaps are also tribalists.

    FACTS;
    (1) When Chiluba came into power he was given 95% votes from provinces accused of being tribalists for ten years.
    (2) When Mazoka became very popular and was highly voted for in all the other provinces these chaps rejected him(Luapula, Northern Povince all rejected him)
    (3) This is what led to the present situation where now some opted to stick to their own.
    (4) If the happening continues it might signal the end of ONE ONE NATION.

  53. Because of attacks on Kabimba, PF has now been reduced to just low-profile immature party and UPND and MMD are now the respectable parties. The fact of the matter is that Kabimba is being attacked because of his tribe. These same people who are busy condemning Kabimba for kicking Lubinda out, they are the same people who were busy condemning Lubinda and asking him to resign. We know them. Just watch how many people will attend UPND rally this weekend, if you think we are joking when we say your attacks on Kabimba just because he is not from northern province have angered a lot of people. Sata was voted into office by other tribes, not just bemba-speaking people, and these non-bembas are very disappointed with this behaviour.

  56. EMMANUEL MWAMBA is just being told the truth. Emmanuel Mwamba is the same chap who was writing smear stories against Sata during the 2011 campaign period. Emmanuel Mwamba is the one who popularised the stories about that Michael Sata is seriously sick and might not even survive his first term if he were to win elections. But when he saw RB had lost he volunteered to poison Chiluba and crossed into PF. That is not a person who can out today and start condemning somebody who built and managed the party with the President from the early years. Anyway, one day soon, the truth will come out. But at the bottom of all this is tribalism. Finito. It makes them b.l.o.o.d.y cowards to deny that they are not tribalists even when everybody is able to see that.

  59. It’ strange that wynter expects emanuel mwamba to pay his alligience to the patriotic front when he is a civil servant. Why is the minister of justice trying so hard to interfere in the affairs of the media, this clearly shows how arrogant this “protege” of the presedency is. This guy should be stopped from going any further in the government ranks.

    • Bembas are the worst TRIBALISTS. You can see this in SATAs appointments to Foreign Service, Parastatal Chiefs, Quasi Govt institutions, Permanent Secretaries, Ministers and many other senior public appointments. I ask people on this blog to compile a list of people holding the appointments above. You will be shocked to learn that 80% are from ONE tribal grouping.

Mr lawyer,you need to be reminded that Mr Mwamba was just doing His job as special assistant for press and public fimofimo in the office of former president and there was nothing like eating from Chiluba’s plate. And as far as I know,he was paid by Government and not Chiluba or Banda,your arrogance is eating you like cancer. You are very right by saying that you worked to build PF(Patriotic Front).   66. I may not be a fun of Kabimba but it is true that he was used by Sata to hound his enemies and take them to court now he is using his tribesmates to hound Kabimba out of PF. Mwamba has always been looking for attention, I would not be suprised if he paid media houses to always put his pictures and whatever he was doing in their papers. If we all remember at one time Kabimba said that we as Zambians should not shoot the messenger he was only carrying out instructions of his boss, are we all scared to call a spade as one, all the happenings in Zed are engineered from Plot One. Even the PF confusion has blessings from Plot One.

  67. Where is the President? Who is supposed to stop Winter? It looks as if bakateka nababalisha fimofimo. Where is the former minister of health,the man who almost brought efficiency and hard work in both local government and ministry of health? Where is King Cobra,the man of action? Is Winter untouchable? The fear by some politicians including Umulongoti that if Winter goes it willl mean the end of Sata and PF is an insult to a lot of Men and women both in government and outside government who are working very hard to make our country a better place to live in.

Yesterday I tried to comment on some biased stories that MMEMBE and his POST have been publishing. Yes, you guessed it right, he blocked my comment! Mmembe will only publish comments which support his agenda.

  71. I thought a Permanent Secretary is a civil servant? Why would Kabimba want Mwamba to have PF party interest??. Such rubbish is what brings Zambia backward. These Party cadres should not Hold Public Offices because they would do things in interest of the Party in power. never seen such Dull leadership

  72. Welcome back his excellency. While away, the following occurred:

    – Wynter called the PF as a tribal grouping, that included you Mr. President
    – Wynter, as though he’s got any power threaten to close the Daily Mail
    – Wynter called the people who voted for you and chanted Donchi Kubeba, street kids
    – Wynter said no one can force him to resign
    – Wynter met DC’s from Northwestern, Western and Southern Provinces with a view to intimidate them. This project he of course failed.
    – Wynter has now taken him fight to Mwamba, continually behaving like a rabid dog.

    I am eagerly waiting on you to come and formally replace Wynter Kabimba with Given Lubinda.
