Brazil Football Association to feature Zambia in documentary

Share

ZAMBIA will feature in a documentary looking at the last 100 years of the Brazilian national football team’s performance. This follows the awarding of a contract to a renowned local film company by the Brazilian Confederation of Football (CBF) to produce the documentary which is expected to feature Zambia’s nature and culture.

The consideration by the CBF to include Zambia in the documentary comes on the basis of the up-coming friendly football match between Zambia and Brazil.

The documentary has tentatively been titled: “100 years of Glory.”

A two-man crew from the Brazilian agency, Canal Azul, will arrive in Zambia just at about the time the game will be taking place in China on 15th October, 2013.

The production once aired in Brazil should help expose Zambia to a good population of Brazilians who have in the recent weeks taken to social media networks where they have been playing down Zambia’s track record in soccer.

Canal Azul is a Brazilian film production company with more than 15 years of experience in documentaries with their projects mainly themed around nature and football.

In pursuit of a quality production, CBF has picked on the renowned Canal Azul who are also the current film producers for Brazil’s top teams; Corinthians, Palmeiras and Santos.

One of the most recent projects done by Canal Azul is a movie about the Brazilian team that will be launched next year with the World Cup tournament.

On their portfolio, Canal Azul has over 30 documentary films and series that have already been launched and are now working on more than 10 new projects with one of them being the series in which the company is representing CBF.

The company has built partnerships with major media players such as 20th Century Fox, Discovery Channel, National Geographic, ESPN, Rede Bandeirantes and Rede Globo.

In the crew coming to Zambia will be Lawrence Wahba, one of the best and most acknowledged wild life documentarists in Latin America. Wahba is one of ‘Nat Geo Wild’s’ hosts and has a special programme ‘Fantástico’ aired on Brazil’s popular television channel, Rede Globo.

Under the agreement with CBF, Canal Azul have been given access to games, trainings, training camps and other spaces restricted to the Brazilian Soccer Team, in national and international territory.

  1. Ok good to know.Hope it will indeed help in making them know where Zambia is.I face similar problems of explaining where Zambia is whenever i attend international meetings.Sometimes i end up mentioning my diapora base as my home country to avoid the geographical questions.

  2. let’s hope they do not interview Ukwa and crew otherwise ninshi ni disaster. Let them just talk to ordinary folk and it will be good for Zambia. but nga ba landa na a lya ama labishi ale teka!

  3. They will discover a nation that has been described as docile and whose chief preoccupation is petty politicking and street thugs in charge of governance.

  4. Renard attending interviews and when he comes back we shall give him our national team that will play Brazil. Well this is what happens when people fail to trust and respect each other. while Bembas ,Tongas and lozis are busy fighting Renard is busy making his pocket fat. If I were kambwili I would ask keegan mumba and Patrick phiri to be part of Renard as he goes to china because this is our life time chance.

  5. FAZ should embrace this opportunity and see it as a way to lobby for Zambian players to play in Brazilian leaque. If 6 Zambian players stay in Brazilian leaque for 3 to 4 yrs, our soccer calibre will change for ever

  6. This is a very good development from the Brazilians. It really will help in image building of Zambia, especially after that BBC coverage of Zambia that was on radio for the whole of last week.

  7. there you go even when the subject is about football others are already politickin
When a wicked man rules, the people groan let us promote harmony and not hatred if you are not happy critisise but do not insult.they are still your brothers weather in government or not .
