President Michael Sata has denied appointing Mr. Robert Chikwelete as Patriotic Front [PF] Lusaka district chairman. In a statement released to the media by his press aide George Chellah, the challenged Mr. Chikwelete to show proof of the letter of appointment.
“Let him also tell us which party organ elected him, when and where the election took place,” he said.
President Sata called on the provincial committee to call for a district conference where a new Lusaka district chairman will be elected.

What is it that President Sata did when he recognized Chikwelete as District Chairman during the pave 2000, at the airport on his way out and when he returned? Why was he recognized as such in the first place?
How interesting when elections are held and the two camps field Chikwelete and Goodson Banda. Would fascinating seeing the support split the PF between the two factions. Looking into the crystal ball, I see Chikwelete ending up Chairman and Banda vice.

By denying Chikwelete whilst at the same time calling for district elections means that Sata is telling the Chikwelete gang that he has also rejected the Banda group.
The problem will be the mode and process of vacating of office by the Chikwelete group – it will breed so much destruction. Chikwelete group wont agree to hand over to the Banda group and the Banda group would definitely try to wrestle the office from their rivals.

Chikwelete and his supporters’ behaviour was pure hooliganism and should not be condoned in Zambia. He should stay suspended and finally expelled from the party for breeding confusion which has the potential of spilling over to the entire nation.
Chikwelete is just a pawn in this game. The Rooks that pushed him into that position will soon make their move. This game is still very on.
The president got advice and that’s the way it should be. The statement by Sata, allegedly released by his Press Secretary Chellah, sounds very sterile and fertile with cowardice on the part of the Presidency. The nation knows President Sata’s reaction when he greeted Mr. Chikwelete at the KK International Airport on his arrival from USA and UK.
Mr. Sata’s suggestion that the Lusaka provincial committee should “call for a district conference where a new Lusaka district chairman will be elected” entails that the President has lost his leadership qualities. We know that the entire PF structure has been managed by nominated cadres – and this includes Guy Scott and Wynter Kabimba. PF must go to a Convention to elect it legitimate Office bearers. Or else, PF end is around the corner.
The leaked information from other independent sources to the effect that President Sata and Kabimba are partners in a Company that has been created to siphon public funds from the RDA is now transforming into a solid truth – and soon to be pursued by a new Govt. This is the reason why Kabimba and his parallel structures seem to be untouchable. Howver, this is a recipe for Sata’s crashing downfall along with Kabimba and Guy Scott.
The UPP spirit that has been entrenched in the structure of PF cannot be ignored. The Bembas are watching the unfolding events in dismay.
