PF youths demonstrate for jobs in Mongu

Share

Patriotic Front (PF) members in Mongu District in Western Province took to the street and petitioned government on the recent job opportunities in the newly-created districts.

The aggrieved members marched from their party secretariat office to the Permanent Secretary’s office chanting songs of solidality to President Michael Sata.

Speaking on behalf of other petitioners, PF Provincial Chairman, Kenneth Namutulo, accused the Provincial Administration and District Commissioners in the new districts of being corrupt and having used nepotism in the employment process.

Mr Namutulo accused the District Commissioners of having chosen their relatives to fill in the positions of non-civil service jobs in their districts at the expense of PF members.

“I have made my own investigations on the recent employment. The jobs in these new districts were given to people who were on the list of District Commissioners and mostly their relatives,” alleged Mr Namutulo.

He further accused the District Commissioners of working against President Sata’s administration, explaining that the District Commissioners allegedly did not consult with the party leadership in their respective districts when they came up with the names of the new recruits.

Speaking Earlier, Mongu PF District Chairman, Oscar Tembo, said members of the ruling party mean well, adding that the demonstration conducted was due to rampant unemployment among party members as well as youths in the district and the province as a whole.

Mr Tembo said the non-civil service jobs that were created in the new districts should have been seen to cushion the unemployment levels in the province.

He also accused the provincial administration of hiring people from outside the province whom he said are the majority.

And in response, Permanent Secretary, Amos Malupenga, said their grievances would be looked into and communicated through the party structure.

    • I don’t think so. Surprisingly they are lecturing govt that it was suppose to consult the PF party and get the list of those PF youths who were eligible on the basis of affiliating to PF party.

But since the employer picked the candidates from the DCs’ list and the DCs + their relatives I presume are PF then what are these linyungandambo chaps complaining about? Truly these guys are Poor Failures(PF) from Poor Families(PF) worsened by the Patriotic Failures(PF party to which they patriotically belong.

Next time they protest just arrest them. Those chaps are dangerous and the PS should not entertain them otherwise he’ll lose his peace work faster than he found.

Demonstrations are not allowed in Western Province until further notice. OK!!!

  1. But these helpless chaps. Who promised them that jobs would be given freely to them on the pretext of being PF(Poor Family) members?

I pity you fellow country unemployed youths. Is it possible for all of you PF uneducated chaps to be employed in non civil service?

To some extent I understand your outcry since Sata has just increased wages for your colleages. What the DCs have done, if true is what we in PF know as “don’t kubeba.” And if you are truly PF members you shouldn’t be surprised by how the recruitment proceeded.

  2. @ At the expense of pf members, what a statement, it is the duty of govt to creat job oppo to every citizen who qualifies 4 the job irrespective of party affiliation. Avoid such statments period.

  3. Since the PS agreed to pass on the grievances it means he, as a civil servant, has admitted that it is government policy to give preference to PF members in the recruitment of public service workers.

We would, therefore, conclude that being a PF member is essential to being considered for a public sector job. Zambians should therefore know that whenever they wish to apply for a public job. Mr Malupenga, as a senior civil servant, would have explained otherwise if it were not so. So, PF, here we come, but we reserve the right to vote for whoever we deem fit to for the role.

    What do others say?

  4. Realistically speaking, the previous employment of people on advertised jobs was marred with corruption, nepotism and regionalism. Out of all the reporters from Southern who applied as DIOs under ZANIS, no one was picked. I know at least 10 friends who had applied and these are seasoned reporters who have been in the industry for some time now and trained by Evelyn Hone, which is the best institution in training Journalists and for someone to say they did not all qualify was folly. Why bring people from Lusaka to occupy these positions when there are locals who qualify? At the rate we are going, things look bleak! May be PF government be reasonable for once. Not employing people simply because they did not vote for them is not the best thing to do, that is mediocrity!

  5. Am in muchinga everyone is talking about pipo from lusaka what is the problem kanshi mwilasha abene bampanga nganabasambilila

  6. these bustards should not be intertained we are all zambian.we dont need to be pf as long as someone has gualification should be considered on merit nt political affriation.

  7. If you have the same qualification with a cadre, he will be picked, sorry but that the rules of the game.Even if I where HH I would do the same.so mulimbe…
