Zambia coach Patrice Beaumelle says Chipolopolo performed well despite losing to Jordan 1-0 in Wednesday’s friendly match in Doha.
Red Arrows defender Bronson Chama scored a late own goal as Zambia recorded their second straight loss in less than a month.
Beaumelle said Zambia did not deserve to lose the friendly match in Qatar.
The Frenchman said he was proud of his team’s display against Jordan.
“Of course we lost but I am telling you the boys played well. The way we played we even deserved to win, it was an own goal after 75 minutes,” he told ZNBC upon arrival in Lusaka on Thursday afternoon.
“If you look at the way we played I am very proud because Jordan are still in the World Cup qualifiers,” Beaumelle added.
Meanwhile,Beaumelle’s squad has returned from Qatar.
The team arrived at Lusaka’s Kenneth Kaunda International Airport slightly after 14:30 hours on Thursday afternoon.
The draw master is gone and now we have the loss master – careful what you wish for in life!
Patrice is cool, and can make best coach in Africa, let the young-man try it out.
Wouldn’t mind Patrice trying out as Lesotho or Swaziland coach. For Chipolopolo, we need a tactician and accomplished Coach at this time.
What we have are those that ideally do not even qualify to Coach, wanting to build a career with Chipolopolo.
Kalusha wants Patrice so he continues getting his cut, though not at our expense.
The team is getting worse by the game. When did we last score an own goal. We said Brazil were the best. What about Jordan. Nonentities I suppose but we still get beaten. Team selection is a big problem. Bring in Mudenda , Mundia and Kampamba. The boys are good strikers. Look for a coach. Time to face reality.
The problem isn’t the players, rather the Coach.
You had a PE Teacher for a Coach, as if that wasn’t enough, you now have an Assistant PE Teacher as a Coach, yet expect ourselves to progress.
Let’s bring in a Tactician, and stop experimenting please.
Why is it that mostly people on this fora are fond of criticising than appreciating what others are doing in this whole world???
I guess a coin has two sides therefore there is no need for all to be one sided. Let’s learn to appreciate than to be always negative.
CYG why are using the plural ‘fora’ instead of forum if you are only referencing Lusaka Times? Especially if you are using the word ‘this’ it means you are not referring to multiple website.
Spot on!
Patrice needs to snap out from giving hopeless comments and start bringing results. Playing well and losing a game is not good results but playing badly like Jordan and making your opponents”Zambia”score an own goal is great results. Food for thought.. Patrice
Zambia at the moment has got no competitive games. What people should understand is that this should be the opportunity to build a formidable side that can bring positive results. This is the only time our coach has to do all the experiments. When the legs of the Chris Katongos, Stophila Sunzus, Rainford Kalabas and Kennedy Mweeenes of this world gets tired one day, we should not struggle to replace them. This is the only time such replacements can be identified. I am happy that our coach is giving opportunities to many players in these friendlies. Right way to go, Patrice!
Football is now measured based on results. it doesn’t matter how well you play and Patrick Bauleni should start getting disappointed with losing very soon.
So interesting anyway,
If u PATRIOTIC CONFUSION, Good comment put up and so funny that Patrice as now become BAULENI, in place of BEAUMELLE. Zambianizing names
Give the guy chance please?Well done chipolopolo.
You don’t try to pass Grade 7,12 or ACCA its either you made it or not.Play to win.what Zambia needs is a physiologist and a coach can work on set pieces. In that way every player gets the opportunity to score,Imagine Jacob being our best strikers, his too slow and heavy he needs to be in attacking midfield.Send Chisanba Lungu to Barcelona soccer academy when his off season and you will have a brilliant player than the meaningless twist and turns.Christopher Katongo should start working on his coaching credentials as his only playing in soldier will power. Unfortunately the Zambian league is lack luster and for that reason will need some Brazilian-born player to be naturalised
Ba Faz do the sensible thing and get an experienced coach for once not these PE boys who are building their cvs at our expense
spot on Jay Jay these PE trainers are just there to improve their CVs.much as i appreciate HR at AFCON 2012 achievement i dont forget what he did to us in 2010 remember how he left us just for a quarter final qualification.for him it was a very big achievement.watch this space sochaux will soon fire him, zambian players are just too good and any coach can do it.while not try a local coach now Beston,Fighton,Peter K,Patrick Phiri just to mention a few.
Same mistakes all the time…no better time to get a coach than now!!
I wonder; did any of the critics commenting on the team’s performance against Jordan actually watch the game? Cecafa should give us a clear indication of whether to retain this coach.
