Zambia at Cecafa Cup crossroads

Zambia arrive at the cross roads of the 2013 Cecafa Cup on Sunday when they face Burundi in the two sides penultimate Group B match at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi.

Sunday’s game will almost certainly decide Zambia’s destiny in the Cecafa Cup in Kenya where they are appearing as guest team.

“It will be tough. I know Cecafa, it is always tough we have to play three games and we will see after that,” Beaumelle said.

And fresh from ending his three-match losing streak in charge with an energy sapping 1-1 draw against Tanzania on a pitch that resembled a swamp after a heavy downpour last Thursday at Machakos, Beaumelle knows he has reached the point of no return against Burundi.

Burundi leads Group B on three points after beating Somalia 2-0 in their opening game last Thursday.

“They won, they have three points and they are leading the group, so we have to beat them to look forward and to move on,” the Frenchman said.

Zambia and Burundi head into their fourth ever meeting still deadlocked all their previous meetings but the onus is more on Chipolopolo to ensure they leave Nyayo with the three points at the end of the 90 minutes.

Meanwhile, Nkana striker Reynold Kampamba has also whetted Chipolopolo fans appetite after ending his two-year Zambia national team goal draught last Thursday against Tanzania.

They will be eager to see what he can do on an officially certified pitch at Nyayo where he is expected to be complemented by a rejuvenated Felix Katongo with whom Kampamba cooked-up a fantastic chemistry against Tanzania.

    • Everybody knows that it was Felix Katongo (player-of-tornament) who scored for Zambia, not the on-fire Sate Sate. Anyway lets see more goals from R.Kampamba tomorrow.
