‘On behalf of the Government, people of Zambia…….allow me to extend my deepest condolences to you the bereaved Mandela family…’ I thought the letter was addressed to Zuma?
An amazing tribute by his majesty.
This statement is the highlight of all other messages I have seen.
A fitting tribute by our president who knows Mr Mandela more than you and I?
The words remind me of Martin Luther King, I have a dream. If you are not
Touches by this message quite frankly you are not Zambian and don’t deserve a great president
Like Mr Sata, at the helm
Mr resident you have won my fragile heart with this powerful message, you have sent a message across
The nation, we salute you.
In years to come we may look back at this statement as a turning point, on trusting his majesty’s
wisdom choice and direction
Mr Sata we mourn with you here in Scotland, I am struggling to stop tears dropping from my eyes.
You have won me over and over again
RIP Mr…
Sorry Mushota you must have written your post before you even read Sata’s message. Its a message of condolences and not a tribute to Mandela.Only you and perhaps your future children can be inspired by George Chellahs assistants prepared letter saying we mourn with you!
yaba!!!,,, who is that letter address to, because Zuma seems to just be copied??
Anyway!! ni pa malilo,, we will appreaciate everything and we make letter correction later
Did you learn something about comas when you were in your primary or secondary school. Punctuations change the whole meaning of a sentence. There is a coma(,) after you( pause here when reading the sentence).
Mushota writing usual rubbish.
Sata will never be close to Mandela in statemanship or grace.
When his demise comes soon people will party in the streets excited that the dictator has gone forever from Zambian politics.
He will not be mourned.
People will piss on his grave.
For the first time I agree with Mushota.Spot on girl !
Your kind only appears once in a million years … Madiba, your life was nothing BUT inspirational, an exceptional individual you were. You understood fully well who was in your corner and who wasn’t.
You knew fully well that the smart people of the Zambian Enterprise had always been in your corner, and so the very first international trip you ever made after being released from prison was to Zambia to convey your gratitude for standing with you while in your struggles.
Gratitude confirms relationship!! As for those who were not in your corner, you knew exactly who they were but still welcomed them with open arms … you once said and I quote “I am not a saint unless you think of a saint as a sinner who keeps trying”, end of quote.
What a legacy … MYSRIP
I love this message. So simple and yet very touching. It is a type of a message that hits all the cores in the readers emotional faculties. The negativity exhibited by some bloggers on this thread further attests how political inclinations and affiliations stops most people from giving a proper and rational response in matters. Undoubtedly the hate and contempt some people have toward the president clouds their brains to such an extent that only hate and anger spills out of them even in situations like this where politics are supposed to take a back seat.Smh
@1.5 Holy Cow – the name says it all. You should say “I will piss on his grave” not “People will piss on his grave”. Not everybody is bitter an twisted like you. By the way even Madiba had those who loathed him such as the far right. Yes MCS is very far from Madiba but your thoughts are despicable.
I do not know how Mandela had a forgiving heart. I would probably have destroyed
Anyone that would have done something like that to either myself or especially my family. 27 years is not a joke…. That was the worst kind of imperialism. And yet today zambia has one of them as a leader. Or people can defend them by saying Zimbabwes land reform is wrong!
Mushota you are quite frankly mad! How can you compare sewerage brain to the colossus that is Mandela! Please don’t insult his memory.
Good message but try to emulate Mandela in your leadership style.
PF PF PF please, why is the address of Zuma below the letter is it a C.C or N.B.
PF is full of strange things…. and that signature of Sata is it not a “folk” the tool normally Rusfa uses?
Clearly Mushota did not see what Hakainde wrote. Not that I am an HH supporter, but clearly what HH wrote had more heart and soul than the letter written above. No feeling, no empathy, just words to join the list of people that are sending condolences….
Sorry Mushota you must have written your post before you even read Sata’s message. Its a message of condolences and not a tribute to Mandela.Only you and perhaps your future children can be inspired by George Chellahs assistants prepared letter saying we mourn with you!
Powerful message no doubt ! Nice one ba Cobra.
But why do I get the sense that the writer doesn’t OWN the message in this letter? … And was it also poorly photocopied or written using one of those typewriters Sir Roy Welensky left at plot 1?
@wanu ngwee
kekekekekekek.. that was extreme and harsh…kekekekekek true sounding though
Hiiiiii kekekeke That letter is crooked man, whoever wrote that smoked dobo, Just so many things strange in that:
I thought Republic of Zambia comes first, then State House below?
Then those paragraphs, katwishi this PF man never seen nerve
Written from Bwinjimfumu
Trivio!!!!!!Typical of some of us zambians.Your English will not bring Mandala to life.I wait to see if HH will be qouted on BBC,SABC or any other channel apart from ZNBC.
why would these channels quote a person who is not a president of a country u shallow-minded cadre?
I hate these Foreign Affairs’ prepared statements. Next it will be ‘Who is who’ queuing up to attend the funeral.
A couple of months ago a guys who claims to be in the ‘know’ told me that the reason why the official announcement of Mandela’s death was delayed (assuming you also believe that he has been clinically dead for several months now and only on life support) was because the country had to prepare for the international commotion that his funeral will cause and the logistical nightmare that hosting it will cause with all the Learjets and private planes that the SA airspace will have to handle. It is envisaged that it will be worse than the chaos of the 2010 world cup as most people attending the funeral will be those who have or can afford private planes. Let’s wait and see
A man who will touch many generations to come. In his 20s he opted to rise against the oppressive system when most of us at this age are even afraid of our own shadows. There are simply no words to describe this man’s contributions to mankind. I recall very well when I arrived in England for my scholarship there was heavy lobbying by the student union for us not to open any bank accounts with banks that had investments in RSA and we all obliged. Together with Steve Biko these are men who have inspired many. If you have not read his book please do so because that is when you can fully understand the man’s life from his boyhood days. Long live the spirit of Madiba and may he rest in eternal peace. I ‘m blessed that I personally saw him when he came to Lusaka.
@ Oyaya,
You are one of the few lucky ones to have met him, such a rare star he was MHSRIP.
Beautiful and powerful message from the President of Zambia!
Uuuh, what time of correspondence is this? The letter starts with “Your Excellency and Dear Brother”. Then Zuma’s name appears at the bottom page. Looks kinda weird to me.
Should read “type” not “time”
@The Chosen One
ARE YOU ADMITTING YOUR OWN FOLLY OF TRYING TO POINT AT A SPECK OF WOOD IN YOUR BROTHER’S EYE WHEN YOU ACTUALLY HAVE A WHOLE LOG IN YOUR OWN EYE?
TRYING TO COVER YOUR FOOLISHNESS WHICH CANNOT DISTINGUISH THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN “TYPE” AND “TIME”
Simple and straight foward unlike those ones we saw earlier where “they” were even mentioning how old “they” were when Madiba was arrested. Thanks a lot Mr President and may you live longer so that your haters succumb to high BP, chipumputu, possibly na shiki polomya!
Why is it that some bloggers like to post silly comments even on things that are straight forward. The president writes a message of condolences but some of you want to make cheap politics out of it. please grow up and if you have nothing to write just try to do something than always finding fault on anything, shaaa.
In a free world its ill advised to pigeonhole people’s freedom of speech.Be open minded to accept differing opinions otherwise you run the risk of being called like the pop group “one direction”…….which is what i named my butthole.
Hahaha,thats funny @Wa Zamani……ati your ^#$hole is named what?
Powerful message from a great man.
@1 mbiji
The message you quote reads “allow me to extend my condolences to you, the bereaved Mandela family and indeed the people of South Africa”. From the above sentence, the president is sending his condolences on our behalf to Pres Zuma and the people of RSA. Pls let us not find fault in everything the President does or says!
Your excellency, we thank you for sending this powerful message of condolences on our behalf.
@st jude
why write a letter to someone and then make a carbon copy to him? which school teaches this kind of correspondence, oohh I forgot that you are birds of the same feathers
Birds of a feather.
Powerful message from our President

Mandela deserves all the adulation as S.A will most certainly never see a funeral like this one ever again.Yes,it’ll be a logistical nightmare but the world owes Mandela such a huge and fitting sendoff.
yaaabaaa. this is the result of having grade sevens as press aide to the president. the english like a composition written by a fifth grader . there are a lot of unemployed graduates roaming the streets, mr president make use of them. may be he feels comfortable surrounded by illiterates
If you think Sata is surrounded by illiterates then try to research the educational background of his ministers. Majority of them are far educated than you.
@matipa… you are actually a worse illiterate.Just look at your punctuation. Ati ba Kolwe basekana ifi-pato
Some of Cobra’s ministers are educated yes, but they do not make use of their acquired knowledge for fear of being insulted.
I am sure even the armchair analysts can at least get the gist of MCS’s message.
Mandela was a selfish less icon of the world, he found forgiveness as a source peace and a justy society where every one regardless of who they are as children oof God. His sacrifice to mankind is second to none. His humility and humbleness Helped to heal South Africa and the world at large. As we lived with you during the struggle as we mourn with you brothers and sisters. Madiba U will be remembered for generation to come. Rest in peace the great son of Africa.
This is a time when MCS needs to get hold of a microphone and verbalise his condolences on behalf of himself, his family and the Zambian community at large. It was nice to hear Obama and Cameron stating how Madiba inspired them, let alone quoting him. Bushe microphone ilababa?
Nooo, my fellow Zambian, it is better to play it safe by sticking to the written mode of communication rather than having the lunatic renting & raving behind a microphone !!
I hope this time the spellings on this letter were properly checked before sending it. Because Bo Sata and spellings are like “in laws.” They don’t meet eye to eye.
even when we are mourning you still cant get over your hate and fustrations now is not the time or the place so to all you haters…shame on you and your belongings.
Tribalist like Sata who espouse superiority of a small non descript tribe over other Bantu dialects in the country. Such nepotism can’t not acknowledge a man who stood against global racial superiority. Sata is a national divisionist and his friends are no different from the whites in the apartide SA who felt that only one group of people should rule a country. There is no difference between Sata and Pik Botha and the PF youths are no different from Hitler youths
In my view right from the days of the great migrations and the Zulu wars (led by Shaka Zulu) this has been a troubled region with a people who have resisted domination. When you listen to the Rivonia trial it touches you to listen to Madiba talking of how he cherished all men and women to live as equals. Then came the Sharpville and Soweto massacres which changed South Africa where even school kids resisted white domination. Steve Biko brutally murdered by the boers and yet the new black leaders of RSA had it within themselves to forgive despite the Truth and Reconciliation process which did not address all the questions. I have great admiration for people of South Africa and your spirit inspires us a lot through your heroic acts, songs and music. May the rainbow nation shine forever.
In a nutshell South Africa has been raped by corporations since time immemorial. The Europeans came with their blazing guns fighting Africans with assegais and hence were able to conquer this region. Due to the mineral wealth bequeathed to this great nation the Dutch (the boers) and the British started fighting among themselves. I know life for the man and woman in the townships has not changed much because since the ANC took over there has emerged a new black elite which works in cohort with international capital to continually exploit the mineral wealth and pay a minimum wage. It does not surprise me to see so many strikes. I know Julius Malema may be seen as too extreme but his message resonates with me that political freedom is meaningless without economic empowerment.
Am amazed at the ignorant fuss being expressed by some of us. Many of us have no idea of how Diplomatic messages are crafted, sent, delivered, handled and acknowledged. I beg you to limit your unwarranted attacks to yourselves. That is how such State Matters are handled and addressees details at the bottom. Also be informed that governments around the world communicate by what is termed “Note Verbal” with common formation around the world – they don’t write letters as you know them – except the format used here which is in order. They also would have spoken on the phone. The letter is sent through Diplomatic Channels with the High Commissioner or Ambassador as the case may be delivering such to the accredited station
