Zambia U20 exit Cosafa with respectable win

Zambia Under-20 ended its unsuccessful Cosafa Youth Championships title defence with a 4-0 win over Seychelles in Mafeteng, Lesotho on Tuesday.

The outgoing Cosafa champions had put behind the disappointment of having their two goals disallowed to thump Seychelles with four second half goals.

Forest Rangers youngster Spencer Sautu opened the scoring after 52 minutes before Danny Madelene scored an own goal minutes later.

Ackim Mumba added Zambia’s third on 64 minutes before Langson Mbewe’s goal that came five minutes before full time.

Oswald Mutapa’s team heads back to Zambia after finishing third on the Group C table with four points from three matches.

Meanwhile, South Africa have reached the semifinals after winning Group C with seven points following Tuesday’s goalless draw against second placed Namibia.

Zambia, who won the last three editions of the regional youth championships, relinquished the cup on Saturday after losing 1-0 to South Africa.

  1. Kalusha please give us a more aggressive developmental program for both men and women’s under age groups. Did I hear you and Ba Kambwili say we will soon be hosting a major under age tournament? Now act like you mean it! Don’t be caught waiting till it’s too late to do anything tangible!!!
