Shepolopolo U17 set for Florida training camp

Share

Shepolopolo have picked Florida as their base for ahead of their debut appearance at the FIFA 2014 U20 Womens world Cup.

Costa Rica will host the fourth edition of the Under-17 world Cup from March 16 to April 4.

FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya said at a fundraising luncheon for the team hosted by vice president Guy Scott that the team is expected to play friendly’s in the USA and Caribbean before heading to San Jose.

“Let use this opportunity to inform you and the nation that we have concluded a well worked programme of preparations which will see the team commence preparations next month and intensify their preparations in the United Sates and the Caribbean,” Kalusha said.

And Scott said the teams USA training camp will be a great opportunity for football scholarship prospects for the girls.

“It is a very good idea to go to Florida and introduce them to some of the Universities there because sports scholarships are not so hard to come by in the United States,” Scott said.

Shepolopolo are in Group A at the World Cup together with Italy, Venezuela and hosts Costa Rica.

Zambia will face Italy in their opening game on March 16 in San Jose.

  1. Dr Scott’s sentiments that scholarships are not so hard to get in the USA, is not true because if it was, a lot of sportsmen would have made it. Unless, they came pass SAT or ACT, their physical prowess on the pitch will do them very little to get a scholarship especially at university level. I think our leaders need to be truthful in their comments on certain issues.

    • @Coachez, Scott (Shi Charlotte) is very right, scholarships in USA are everywhere, my neighbor’s child just got scholarship for playing rope climbing. I mean it ukunina intambo..
Someone should take videos of those girls and send to community colleges.

  2. Lies, lies, upon lies. There was no meeting just crooks calling each other and then sending a hastily written announcement to LT. There’s nothing to inform the nation about here. This is a mere COVER UP for incompetence. This article is filled with holes through and through.
    Look:
    1. It says ‘picked up’. Picked up? Picked up = (thinking about) , my foot. There’s nothing concrete about Zambia U-17 and a Florida camping. See, there’s no name of camping site, no date, no names of universities/teams to play friendlies with. No deal, nothing concluded yet.
    2. U-17 was supposed to be in camp right now, as we speak, for 2 weeks or so.
    3. Also missing is confirmed dates and 2 or 3 U-17 national teams to play friendlies with.

    Ba LT naimwe it’s U-17 and not U-20…what’s the…

  3. Kalu u are always smart in your steps and plans u do and u always think ahead. Kip up your gud work.

    • @Gadaffie,
I totally agree with you, 100%, Kalu is always smart and thinking ahead and that’s why our U-20 girls got beat 2-0 @home while their male counterparts didn’t even make it through the group stage, not so long ago. Great job Kalusha, keep up the good work!
