Kasama Central Member of Parliament Geoffrey Mwamba has pledged to revive golf tournaments in his constituency.

Speaking at a prizing-giving ceremony at Kasama Golf Club last night, Mr. Mwamba said golf was an important sport like any other sporting discipline in the country.

He urged Zambians not to view golf as a rich man’s game but a sport that is worth playing.

Mwamba has offered to continue sponsoring golf tournaments at Kasama Golf Club in a bid to raise the standard of the game among golfers.

He said he has developed a passion for golf after Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda bought him a full-golf-kit to enable him start playing the game.

And Mr. Mwamba has bemoaned the dilapidated state of Kasama Golf Club building.

He has since pledged to meet part of the costs to renovate the building and make it more habitable for golfers.

And Kasama Golf Club president Ian Lyalabi thanked Mr. Mwamba for sponsoring the just-ended Kasama Close Golf tournament.

Lialabi said his club has been facing a lot of financial challenges resulting in failure to host major golf tournaments.

He however, urged corporate entities to come on board and support the growth of golf in Kasama town.

The highly-competitive Kasama Close Golf tournament saw seasoned-golfer Joseph Chewe emerge overall winner after beating other golfers.

  1. Golf is a game for rich people like Alexander Chikwanda who can afford to buy golf kits to doante to GBM who can’t afford to buy, so the question is how many people will participate in poor Kasama? Better sponsor, soccer, netball, adultery etc atleast everyone can benefit not Golf

    • He is already doing that for the community, much more than you and your parents, family and MP are and will ever do for your constituency wherever it is.

  2. Yes its true he has resigned. This is in connection with his visit to the Paramount chief Chitimukulu.Sata and GBM differed over the same prompting GBM to side with CHITI
