Chief Government Spokesperson Mwansa Kapeya has refuted reports suggesting that Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda has resigned from Government.

Mr. Kapeya who is also Information Minister said in an interview that Mr. Chikwanda is still Finance Minister and had actually attended a cabinet meeting at State House this morning.

He said the purported resignation is a laughable matter which is being circulated by an online publication.

Zambian Watchdog reported today that President Michael Sata and Finance Minister Alexandra Chikwanda over the weekend differed over Chitimukulu and decided to resign as Finance Minister. According to the rumour, this happened after President Sata ordered had Finance Minister Chikwanda to immediately evict Paramount Chief Chitimukulu from his house.

“You know the house in which the Chitimukulu is living in Kasama belongs to Chikwanda. So the President asked Chikwanda to evict the chief but Chikwanda said Sata has no right to dictate him on his personal property” the source said.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda will tomorrow Tuesday 7 January, 2014 Commission the New Zambia Revenue Authority Provincial Headquarters in Choma, Southern Province. The event is scheduled to start at 11:00 Hours.

  1. ba fee kaar laar imwe ba govt don’t refuse just let the man go. the cartel holding MCS hostage has no morals. everyone has now seen that we’re being ruled from bwinjimfumu road instead of state house

    • Does he have CIMA, ACCA Msc MBA, and doing his PhD?

Look the man is a good experienced minister but he is old, and really we shouldn’t be crying if he retires/leaves

Has he been pushed or has he jumped?

I dont want to sound negative here but he shouldnt have been employed to start with, employ a 40 year old to do the job who has energy drive and hunger

This Kapeya as well doesn’t sound very intelligent
      #notears
      Good riddance

      Thanks

    • Any proud Bemba speaking person should distance themselves from Sata at least until such a time that he gives the complete account of why (He) is against Henry Sosala being paramount chief Chiti Mukulu. Let’s also be clear that it is not Govt that is at a standoff with the shilubemba but Sata alone with the “yes Bwana puppets” doing his dirty work. Infact it is just Sata who has a problem because from what I have read and understood the shilubemba are simply tying to get on with their traditional affairs.

    • I said it .Chikwanda is not happy with Sata’s dictations on how money is being spent. The chitimukulu issue is just Kapeya’s sugar coating , trying to divert the attention from the hot financial issue at hand. Sata blasted Chikwanda telling him where is all the money you have borrowed for you say money is finished.

Meanwhile the circus continues as more and more PF cabinet are currently in the valley of decision trying to weigh their options.

My message to all reasonable PF cabinet members is; resign now otherwise you will sink with the sinking canoe. How can you all let your selves to be belittled and insulted in Public by a lunatic in plot 1. if you don’t do it now history will judge you guys harshly because Zambians are tired of forgiving rogue poloticians(Belllyticians)

    • Remember what Kapeya ,the minister of misinformation and lies said when GBM resigned? He refuted the reports in his usual “donchi kubeba way”. Guess what! it turned out GBM had actually resigned.

So in Chikwanda’s case, something is fishy. Chikwanda has issued an ultimatum to Sata to stop dictating and belittling Cabinet ministers.

More is yet to follow very soon. How sweet!

    • It reminds me of Mr ComicAli is Saddam’s government. When the american were bombing the S.HIT out of Baghdad he was saying we are killing them like flies and sending them back in body bags to the USA..

Thats what blind royalty does to the belly “ComicKapeya”

    • @TheEngineer(Australia)

Thats good one! Typical dictator mentality is the same every where. Even Idi Amin said the same of the Tanzanians when he was about to escape.

    • The Watch Dog is keeping bakoswe away…. instead of working statehouse spends the day reading the WatchDog

    • “Chief Kaloba” Alexanda Chikwanda should not be allowed to resign. He has to make sure he pays the loans he signed.

    • Mmembe’s constitution editorial today is shameful- pure fraudster! Is it the 14billion DBZ money and his dirty dipped fingers in the treasury confusing and illusioning this fraud, opportunistic and deceptive Mmembe? It’s the same Mmembe who championed the constitution under RB, now a turncoat. What a hypocrite demagogue and Liar! If PF follows Mmembe’s bootlicking 14Billion and those truck contracts opinions, it’s like saying PF should be kicked out of power just like MMD for the failed constitution. Where is MMD, does PF also want to be in opposition so soon? Benefits are more in this constitution than the narrow, myopic and disillusioned view of Mmembe- Urgency on constitutional delivery- Simple, it’s a contract PF’s manifesto page 42 in 90 days) – Take notice, you hypocrite demagogue

    • hahahaha.. online with facebook connected is very dangerous. Sata is president during a wrong era.. suppressing imformation like in UNIP era will be impossible today

  2. There we go again, told you MCS was an expert in giving directives and dictations! But apapena bakateka nabalusa, Chitimukulu nifumu ineine not ba Mpezeni mwa briba.

  3. The dogs are too too fast also, why cant they wait till the truth comes out?? This would be good news but they shouldnt put the cart before the horse. Sata will soon remain alone at rate he is moving, couldnt believe he was castigating Kambwili the other day… Eiishhh awe kwena twalamwenako ubuteko bwabakaponya ubu

  4. Ba Kapeya or Mr. Ifyabukaya so you read ZWD? Anyway, last time you refuted GBM’s resignation but it came to pass. Why should we believe you this time? Personally, I would like uncle Chikwanda to resign as we, the family, have been advising him for a long time now.

  5. Even if he attended the meeting this morning, it may just be that he gave one month notice. I thought the ZWD was banned and barred? Where does the minister get this information from?

    • @The Saint, Isn’t that what Kapeya is, a comedian, in the literal sense? He is so much into acting that he fails to distinguish fact from fiction, when the audience wants truth from being entertained. To him, everywhere is a platform upon which he thinks he is performing a sketch.

  6. Lusakatimes’reporting is pIoor.you should ve started with the lead story before highlighting the refutation. Are u pf stooges?

  7. Govt should remain focused and avoid unnesessary tension amongest themselves. They have a lot of work to do…alangize needed here also..

    • @Chinyama

Go and pump sense to your idol Sata to have some decorum when dealing with educated people. Otherwise more chaos will ensue in PF.

I am enjoying moment of it.
By the way I have my ears and eyes in Statehouse now.

  8. It doesnt matter what this man says. Based on all the rumours we’ve heard about Chikwanda, we know he is a very unhappy man serving under PF.

  9. But the former ifyabukaya radio programme presenter has spoken that Chikwanda is still minister. Guys stop stressing

  10. He has resigned . I know you want to see letter of resignation. Its a matter of time. I WILL stop buying print media because it carries stale news.

  11. Rule of the thumb= If the Chief Govt Spokesperson denies something, believe that he is covering up. Believe what is being denied as being true- you will always be 99.99% right!!

  12. Good afternoon

While I won’t believe everything I hear or read, I have to say that there is a subtle line between rumour and truth.

How one deals with rumours also says a lot about someone’s real character. Sometimes it is not enough to just refute rumours, the least you can do is to show people the opposite of what is being reported.

If rumors say for example, that you live in a shanty compound, you can invite some people over to Olympia, Rhodes Park or Desmondine and show them it isn’t true. Or if rumors say that you’re involved in corruption, stop doing any activities that are suspicious.

  13. and were is that new ZRA thing built coz i live in choma and i cant see any new infrastructure apart from shops being built opposite barclays bank…………..

  14. With all these impending resignations, this Govt. will end up with only one functional ministry – “FALLEN” affairs! I said, ‘Fallen’ not ‘foreign’.

  15. Chikwanda: “Your excellency, we have no money”
Sata: “Impiya nashipwa, impiya nashipwa, go and print some! You are the minister of Finance aren’t you”?
Chikwanda was so shocked at MCS’s ignorance he tendered his resignation!

  16. I wish Mr Chikwanda could issue a press statement on rumours that he has resigned. Mwansa Kapeya’s denial should be ”audited” to ensure it is true. I hope he is not trying to put words in Mr Chikwanda’s mouth.

    • Bwinjimfumu and its associates will be rejoicing if this is true as they will want to paracute in their supporter Magande. Watch this space, if ABC has indeed resigned.

    • My uncle’s hands are tied by the Mmembe cartel and Sata ! That is why we have been advising him to resign to preserve our family name.

  17. These politicians are just as bad as we all are. What they are doing is feed the online media and then pick a stick to start to whip them, pretty much like calling a dog a bad name then castigating it for the really really bad name the dog has. A never ending vicious cycle of Zambian drama, evidence is Kaunda is already bored and his joined back in. Chiluba and Mwanawasa might be part-taking in spirit from hell and heven respectively, That’s Zambia for you, GOD FORBID.

  18. If Chikwanda has rescinded his decision to resign then he has done an injustice to Zambia and to himself. As Nsanda said, he will now be buried in the avalanche coming. Chikwanda has been a household name in Zambia, why does he want to end so badly like this by sticking with Sata? In the past he has always been on the right side of history. He supported Kaunda until Kaunda went crazy, supported Chiluba until Chiluba also went bonkers on the third term . This Sata has certainly gone haywire. It’s sad he mixed himself with him in the first place. How sad indeed that Chikwanda has to end his life with a failed government of Sata. Very very sad.

    • Just from looking at the people Chikwanda has supported from the past, you can see the man is nothing but a tribalist. Kaunda, Chiluba and Sata. Why didn’t he support Mwanawasa and RB? I have no sympathy for such people. He suffers from ethnocentrism. He sees nothing in other tribes apart from Bemba. No, Chikwanda is good for nothing.

    • @Zabwino Palibe. on tribalism you are wrong. Ba Chikwanda is perhaps one of the most loved Bemba’s amongst the Tongas. Ask Gary Nkombo, Request Muntanga or Muna Hantuba amongst others. In fact ba Chikwanda is a Tonga in a Bemba skin….he is from Kumusanza. ABC mudaala, tulakuyanda!!

  19. My uncle’s hands are tied by the Mmembe cartel and Sata ! That is why we have been advising him to resign to preserve our family name.

    • @Mutale Chikwanda
Your uncle is a free man and should resign to regain some integrity. He shouldn’t have accepted a job with Sata in the first place. Anyway we can’t dwell on what might have been but could never be. It would be wise for your uncle to leave the vipers den. It won’t be easy trying to escape from hell, witness GBM, but better to hang on to some shred of dignity than risk being humiliated by that forked creature day in and out. Gosh! I have always wondered about people who accept job offers from that snake. These guys must have some alien genes to able to do that.

  20. In the midst of the bemba civil war currently raging it is a shameful scandal that is negatively affecting the development of the whole country. They have placed their selfishness and hunger for power as their top priority. They are calling each other all the ugly names imaginable while the other Zambian tribes look on in total disbelief wondering when all this rubbish will come to an end.
As far as I am aware it is the first time that a tribe has split itself into two hostile groups to fight each. Can someone ask them when they are going to start serving the nation since they hold the instruments of power. Enough is enough! Is this what they meant by ‘Tu le miteka?

  21. Don’t generalise as not every Bemba is involved in this. Most of us a busy trying to make ends meet like everybody else. This ‘Tu le miteka’ paranoia of yours is nonsensical and by the way it is ‘Tule muteka’ to the real Bembas.

    • @Mutale Chikwanda,
Please do not run away from the truth, whether you are trying to make ends meet or not, can you deny the fact that there has been many of you blogging proudly that no Tonga or Lozi will ever be president of Zambia? Call it paranoia or nonsensical or anything else it is a fact that you are divided and fighting amongst yourselves and if it had been any other tribe you would have resorted to unprintable insults like it happened when lozis were being victimised and treated inhumanly by your government.

  22. Here is the latest news:
    ZWD: Father Bwalya arrested.
Post: Cops save Frank Bwalya from lynching by Kasama PF cadres.

    Different publications, different agendas!

  23. All Bembas who are still in PF are against ChitiMukulu, Sata is PF and PF is the current government humiliating Paramount Chief Chitimukulu. How can these Bembas humiliate their chief like ‘kapolo’? Tamukwete nthambi mwe vinangwa? shee!

  24. let us support and advise Mr Chikwanda otherwise he listens when people make noise and means well to see us through Sometimes its just difficult.

lets support him and his civil servants as its clear there is no one within who has been groomed to take over later alone directors at the ministry we need to advise him and remind him atleast he listens and the learning curve is long for any to assume You simply donot abush a person with Gov instruments like that The proper regardless of politics is to check and remind them to operationalize they listen as seen in the change in direction

lets make a difference on LT just as we do on others

  25. So fossil Chikwanda will tomorrow commission the new ZRA Provincial Headquarters in Southern Province….I hope ZRA’s ICT has also been upgraded whats the logic of setting up in Choma when the much of its revenue is collected in Livingstone.

  26. If you follow the policy pronouncement’s and Gov Financing you will observe that at Initial there was an overly optimistic and apetite to commit was a comfirmation bias holding on to a loosing stock as it were.People changed and decisions of late been more carefully looked at if you have observed

We can only encourage for the continuity of Chikwanda and is people for consistence sake and capacity building at the same time enblacing an all inclusive approach and sound policy direction with regards to Financial Planning Policies and Expenditures. At least there is fear and maturity in Mr. Chikwanda only needs more teams to advise him and have a refined Financial Policy

    He is just a figure…
