- They left out important character development for the witch and a few other characters, which really could have added more emotional flame to the film.

CONCLUSIONÂ
47 Ronin is absolutely phenomenal, with amazing visual effects, an emotional and gripping musical score, and strong performances from Keanu Reeves and Hiroyuki Sanada, who portrays Oishi. It is an extremely action-packed samurai/fantasy epic that is something you don’t want to miss on the big-screen.

I also thought that this movie was great. I have no idea why so many people want to give it a bad review. The same bad review was done for John Carter and After Earth, both, really good films. I have already watched John Carter at least 3 times. And I know I will see it again. 47 Ronin is equally good. Since there is nothing fundamentally wrong with this film, all criticisms are nit picking and have no bases in anything. The film is well acted, seamless in integrating the fantasy with the history, good special effects which rival any other film currently on the market. I am glad to learn a bit about Japanese culture and see some Japanese actors in a Hollywood produced movie too.
I did enjoy the film and agree with you in your review of it. I also feel that the viewer needs to immerse themself in this period of Japanese history to feel connected to the characters and their emotions. The witchcraft and special effects are tantalizing!
I found the movie a perfect jewel from beginning to end. Saying that I was also craving some more backstory that can’t be told in 2 hours. Good news! There are 2 novels available on the screenplay of this version of 47 Ronin. I will be reading them soon. The bits I saw online were wonderful.
