Injured Zambia midfielder Mukuka Mulenga will travel with Mamelodi Sundowns for the four-club invitational tournament.
Mukuka has yet to kick the ball for Sundowns since joining them in August from Power Dynamos.
Sundowns technical manager Mike Ntombela said in Ndola today at the draw of the invitational tournament that Zambia goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene too will be among the 31-member travelling party for the week-long tournament.
“As you all know there is CHAN that we are hosting and they are challenges around playing friendly games and making sure we prepare well for the second part of the league season,” Ntombela said.
“Coming to Zambia is a blessing and we would like to assure you that we will be brining all our players who are not in the national team including those that are injured including Mukuka Mulenga.”
Sundowns will play Mukuka’s old club Power in the two sides opening game on Saturday in a 16h00 kickoff at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
If he’s Deco then I’m Ronaldinho; normally players earn their nicknames. What has he done for his club?
Professional soccer players should’nt adopt names of other professional players as their nicknames coz it becomes embarrassing when they meet the real “owners” of those names as their opponents on the pitch. Such nicknames are for amateur footballers or school kids playing fimpombwas.
Wanu Ngwee, you have a HUGE inferiority complex.
I see nothing wrong with adopting a name of a soccer legend who has retired. Abedi ‘Pele’ is a good example. Who knows, Mukuka Mulenga may have adopted that name when he was playing chimpombwa football. That way, nick names stick through out a footballer’s life.
Imwe if you don’t know much about zambian football the best you can do is keep quiet. If you have been to ADS and LMS you know what am talking about. He was named Deco by fans because he plays and passes like Deco. He is a good player and if you are in the diaspora take time to watch him when he gets back on the pitch on SS.
MUKUKA, WELCOME HOME. WE MISS YOUR RARE TALENT.
IF YOU HAD PLAYED IN THE CHAN QUALIFIER, ZAMBIA WOULD HAVE QUALIFIED FOR CHAN FINALS.
IT IS A BIG BLOW TO ZAMBIA THAT YOU ARE INJURED. BUT WE KNOW YOUR INJURY IS A BLESSING IN DISGUISE. YOUR HUNGER TO PLAY FOOTBALL HAS JUST ERUPTED, AFTER SHAKING OFF THAT INJURY, YOU WILL BE MORE BLILLIANT THAN EVER BEFORE.
