UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa has described the warn and caution statement Police recorded from party leader Hakainde Hichilema as ‘manufactured bogus’.
Mr Mweetwa who is also UPND Choma Central Member of Parliament (MP) charged that the move by Police to summon the UPND leader for questioning at Woodlands Police station in Lusaka yesterday was politically motivated.
He claimed that the conduct exhibited by the Police officers at Woodlands Police station illustrated that Zambia had become a Police state under President Michael Chilufya Sata.
Mr Mweetwa said in an interview with ZANIS in Choma today that UPND would not be intimidated by the Police but instead continue to highlight the various challenges the people of Zambia were experiencing.
“The UPND is aware that the conduct of the police officers exhibited yesterday is politically motivated, but as UPND we shall not be intimidated, rather we will forge ahead and denounce the failure by the PF government to fulfill their election promises to the people of Zambia”, he said
He said the escalating mealie meal prices in the country were among the major challenges which the UPND would not relent to highlight.
Mr Mweetwa noted that the number of police officers who were deployed at Woodlands Police station for Mr Hichilema’s questioning Monday was not necessary adding that the warn and caution statement recorded on him proved that the Police had a different agenda.
“The fact that the Police could not place any charges on Mr Hichilema is clear indication that they had a different agenda which they could not foster probably due to intimidation by the UPND cadres who turned up in large numbers to support their leader”, he said.

The people who must be on trial are Sata and his cronies, not HH. In fact, the present Zambian government must be tried for treason, incitement and other crimes which overlap with the above crimes as created by the legislation. HH is being persecuted for taking the PF to task and reminding it to settle its moral deficit. The judicial system has been compromised by the PF, and it is evident that HH has repeatedly reminded the PF to settle accounts in relation to societal convictions of responsibilities as a govt in power. Sata has on several instances published statements which reflect the definitional requirements of elements of crimes created by legislation; such as crimen inuria, defamation of character, incitement to attempt to commit violence, incitement to commit crimes, defeating the course of justice, scandalising the court, public violence, omissions etc. Most of the above mentioned crimes were committed against HH and UPND members. Furthermore, when one follows the above crimes intricately, more serious charges will be added to the future charge sheet, and, Sata and his cronies will likely to be incarcerated for lengthy prison sentences.

Can you read properly?The police recorded a warning and caution statement accusing HH to have alleged that Sata sent PF militia to attack him in Kasama.Which is true, as the evidence by Muvi TV shows that PF has militias fighting each other for practise sake.
This police call had nothing to do with the letter. If it had, then Sata and his PF changed their mind on that because it could have embarrassed them even more.
To be honest with you this is just political intimidation by Sata,to strengthen HH’s resolve and make him popular so that all people still doubting like you can see that HH is ready take over.If it were not so Sata would have ignored HH like he ignores Chipimo.
