Chief Government spokesperson Mwansa Kapeya said peace and maturity during campaigns would provide a conducive environment for the electorate in Katuba to exercise their democratic right in choosing a Member of Parliament of their own choice.

“As campaigns get underway ahead of the February 25 by-election, Government urges all contestants to engage in peaceful, mature and issue based campaigns,” Mr Kapeya said.

He said Government was happy with the high number of political parties that successfully filed in nominations to contest the Katuba parliamentary by-election.

“Government congratulates the political parties that successfully filed in nominations to contest the forthcoming Katuba Parliamentary by-elections through their respective candidates,” he said.

He said the high number of candidates, seven of them, contesting that particular by-election, underscored Zambia’s flourishing democracy under the captaincy of the Patriotic Front (PF) Government.

Mr Kapeya said the late Member of Parliament for Katuba, Dr Patrick Chikusu left an impeccable and indelible legacy of selfless, dignified and distinguished service to the nation as he chose to work with the Government of President Michael Sata in taking development to the people of Zambia.

“As such, it is necessary that the process of finding a successor to such a distinguished leader and patriot is equally dignified and orderly during the by-election,” he said.

He said it was Government’s expectation that all political parties and players taking part in the Katuba by-election conducted themselves peacefully in line with the provisions of the law.

  1. Where was this man, did he go for retreat because he lies a lot, too much ”ifyabukaya” in his head ? And there is too much of ifyabukaya in government especially from Guy Scott.

    • He was learning “new” vocabulary in USA and as a result, he now uses “polished” language!!!

  2. DON’T START CAMPAIGNING IN PRESS MEDIA. LET ALL PARTIES INVOLVED BE GIVEN A FAIR GROUND. NO GOVERNMENT MACHINERY TO USED.

  3. Let the Mwaona manje Dora (MMD) party win, because the LATE CHINKUSU was MMD so please we beg the opposition parties more especially ABZ to back the MMD Candidate. PF should not come closer to any win, they will win the KASAMA by election when they field LUPANDO MWAPE against GBM an independent
