State House challenged to tell the nation exactly where the President will spend working holiday

Opposition Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) youths have challenged State House to tell the nation exactly where President Michael Sata will spend his 14 days working holiday after attending the African Union (AU) Summit in Addis Abba Ethiopia.

MMD Die hard youth wing coordinator Bowman Lusambo says youths from his party have been compelled to challenge State House on the President’s announced 14 days vacation because it has not be state clearly where he will spend it.

Mr. Lusambo says this is why youths from his party finds the statement that was issued by the President’s assistant for press and public relations George Chellah as being insufficient and an alleged attempt of misleading the public.

Mr. Lusambo has told Qfm news in a statement this afternoon that his party is also fully aware that President Sata like any other human being deserves a holiday but that it is also a well known fact that due to the nature of his office, the Head of State is obliged to notify people in the country of his whereabouts.

And the MMD Die Hard youth wing coordinator has wondered what has become so special about President Sata whose holiday destinations are being kept secret when the country’s history shows that all past Presidents cared to inform the people in the country whenever they undertook a holiday.

    He needs rest, as someone elluded on here beforehand , Even God rested when creating the universe

    Every person needs to take one day away. A day in which one consciously separates the past from the future. Jobs, family, employers, and friends can exist one day without any one of us, and if our egos permit us to confess, they could exist eternally in our absence. Each person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for. Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not withdraw from us.

    • His our president + he uses our money to make all his moves & everything. We the Zambians are the stakeholder & he is our company(so long his president) so we ought to know whats going on least our investment goes to the drain

    • The norm in the civilised world is for the country to know where the leader, for a lot of very obvious reasons, security, diplomatic considerations and for the stability of the country, it leaves no area for insinuations. Yes our president deserves a holiday but the office he holds demands that where he is on holiday is known. Can you imagine Alex Salmond, David Cameron, Barrack Obama, Meckel dissapearing without people knowing? If we are a banana republic then you are right

    • At the age Sata is, he’s bound to get sick every now and often. Most of you, including me may have ailing or dead parents much younger than Sata. I for one am above 40 and I have issues with my health, it’s the call of nature. Respect the elderly if you want to live longer. HH supporters wait and see how your HH will be limping in 10 years time – without archiving his dream. I’m sure you’ll not be happy to see him ridiculed because of sickness. So pray for our leaders in thick and thin and in sick and sin! Let the enjoy privacy as our culture demands.

      I am only interested to know where Kili Kaseba is spending her next 10 days which I don’t know about.

    • Just follow what is happening in Ukraine. The president passed a number of draconian laws which led to massive protests gaining momentum right now to the point where the government has crumbled and president has been forced to go on a sick leave. Exactly what we need in Zambia right now.

      In the western world except for France,Sata would not have become a president with such a rampant adulterous past. In America he would have been rejected straight away.

  5. The tradition has always been that Presidents go with their children and/or grandchildren. Alas, the current one goes alone with his wife under a cloak of secrecy. Any normal person should be able to figure out that there is something fishy going on.

Even if they said the man is sick as long as the assure the nation that he is still competent to govern (hopefully he doesn’t govern from the trouser) it’s ok. This business of trying to be too clever and culture of unnecessary secretiveness will cost them in addition to the many other governance blunders. Anyway, it shall soon come to pass!

    I think it is imperative for the Head of State to notify the country of his absence but I’m not quite sure if it’s absolutely necessary to inform the public about his whereabouts.

    Since people are so good at spreading rumours, they would soon find out that he has been hiding out in Switzerland or Honolulu by the time he gets back in the country anyway. Wishing him a relaxed, restorative time-off and a few hale and hearty days despite the curiousity and complaints surrounding his holidays.

  17. This “Skaank” of a president has been on holiday from the minute he walked into State House. What does he do when he spends 7 days a week, drinking vodka, emptying his urine bag and just sleeping. The only time he appears to be doing something is when he is swearing in someone for 10 minutes. We even have KK doing his work.

    We know he’s going to have his dysfunctional private parts repaired. That,s why they are announcing the 14 days holiday trip and yet keeping quiet about his destination

  21. It is common knowledge that Zambians will eventually know where Mr Sata will eventually land for his so called holiday. It has to be remembered that in the past similar moves were made by the president for his secret medical reviews to India and the United Kingdom. As soon as he landed in India or UK Zambians working at airports saw him and his entourage. When he booked in the clinic Zambian nurses were assigned to attend to him with some Malawian doctors. We are sure to know where our money will be used by Mr Sata and his cronies.This is how this shambolic government has inflicted a subtle political damage with insidious delusion of catastrophic ending.

Whether some people care or not about the whereabouts of their President, I think it is normal protocol and civil to officially state where you leader is holidaying or working as the case may be. If there is to be any secrecy, its during the trip. Not before. Once the person has arrived, it is announced where they are (e.g. Cameroon in Afghanistan) In Zambia, you are told he is going on a so-called working holiday, but where, is none of your business – and some people accept this – just as they gullibly accept to be trodden on, fed with political lies, abused, undressed of the little dignity they have left and left to flounder like clueless worms. That’s the tragedy – accepting nonsense and lying down to allow the perpetuation of political and economic enslavement.

That fact remains in moaning and asserts out of a toilet. Even presidents or prime ministers of the developed world go on unknown place for a holiday, that is normal for anybody who works 23hrs/day x days. There is no need to make a case about where your pres is. let it be, if your thoughts are that he is dead, or in hospital or having fun with his family; for now I believe let him have his holiday, whichever way he chooses to spend it

    If he has the right to go anywhere without telling all, then why did he even think announcing his’ two-week holiday’ was news-worthy??
    When an inherently innocent activity (such as a holiday) is shrouded in secrecy, then someone is up to no good.
    If one is glad to accept the benefits that go with the presidency (such going on state sponsored holiday), he should also graciously fulfil its downside (like letting us the sponsors know his exact whereabouts)
