A Patriot Front PF) cadre Henry Lungu 27 years old, has pleaded not guilty to a murder charge in the Livingstone high court.
Appearing before high court Judge Gaudensia Salasini, Henry Lungu is charged with one count of murder contrary to section 200 chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.
During the run up to the Livingstone parliamentary by elections in February 2013 Harrison Chanda a Pf Cadre was brutally hacked to death.
The Police were quick to heap the blame on UPND.This lead to the arrest of UPND senior officials among them Mazabuka Central UPND member of parliament and campaign manager for Livingstone parliamentary by-election, Garry Nkombo, Kalomo Member of Parliament, Request Muntanga, Livingstone UPND spokesperson Neto Halwabala and party election chairman Ackson Sejani and 12 other UPND supporters.
However,two weeks later the DPP discontinued the case against the UPND members and formally charged a PF cadre Henry Harry Lungu of B2 30 Libuyu compound in Livingstone with the murder of Harrison Chanda.
Facts before the court were that in February 2013, Lungu in Livingstone of Southern province did murder Harrison Chanda of Monze contrary to the laws of Zambia.
It is alleged that on the material day, during the run up to the Livingstone parliamentary by elections last year which was won by Lawrence Evans, Lungu murdered Chanda a fellow party official who was PF Monze district secretary.
Lungu who is being represented by Mr Solomon Muzyamba pleaded not guilty to the charge and the matter has since been adjourned to the 19th of March for commencement of trial.
“The court records a plea of not guilty and the matter is adjourned to the 19th day of March for commencement of trial, meanwhile accused you are still remanded in custody,” Judge Salasini said.

Sylvia Masebo should be having nightmares for the blatant accusations she levelled against innocent UPND. It is id1otic to kill each other mwebene just so you can implicate the opposition. It is pathetic. Maybe late Chanda was just sacrificed by the PF SataNIC machinery to ask the devil to help them win. Masebo was crying as though she was the widow and was, at the same time accusing UPND. Nabena ba Chanda, how could he go to L/stone when he was Monze district official? If a person choses to torture, maim and even kill innocent persons, such a person and his or her leader behind such evil acts, will be severely punished by God.
