Republican Vice President Dr Guy Scott has accused the opposition of hiding behind the issue of the constitution in boycotting today’s Youth Day Celebrations when infact they can not organise enough numbers for them to march.

Dr Scott who represented republican president Micheal Sata at the freedom statue during the Youth Day Celebrations today said the opposition Movement for Multiparty Democracy MMD and United Party for National Development UPND are hiding behind the constitution when they just can’t organise enough youths to much the number of his party’s youths who voluntarily came for the celebrations.

“I was disappointed to see or to not see MMD and UPND, they are saying its got something to do with the constitution but me I strongly suspect that its got more to do with the fact they can’t make the numbers, they can’t produce the numbers compared to the youths who voluntarily come down here to show there support for the PF”. Dr Scott said

He was however pleased to see the first republican ruling United National Independence Party UNIP take part in the celebrations.

“I was pleased to see UNIP putting up a little march here because UNIP was the party under which the young and women of 1964 they fought against colonialism”. He said.

The opposition has boycotted this year’s Youth Day Celebrations citing among other reasons the delayed release of the constitution and high unemployment levels in the country.

Meanwhile, Republican President Micheal Sata has paid tribute to the youths who participated in the struggle for independence of the nation.

Speaking in a speech read on his behalf by republican vice president Dr. Guy Scott, President Sata said Youths played a very important role in the struggle for independence of Zambia hence the need for all well meaning youths in the country to take part in honoring the gallant men and women who sacrificed the lives for the freedom the youths are enjoying today.

He called on the youths in the country to reflect on their obligation to the future and contribution to the development of the country

He pledged government’s commitment to enhancing the mainstreaming of youth programs across all sectors as it is aware of the challenges that they are facing.

He further stressed the importance of empowering the youths so that they can realize their full potential in society.

The president further said it was in this vain that his government has embarked on the implementation of youth empowerment programs such as the construction of universities in all the ten provinces of the country, Implementation of the Industrial Development Center IDC and the provisions of Youth Funds for loans to the youths among other programs.

He urged the youths in the country to remain focused and united as the nation celebrates its golden jubilee later this year.

And speaking at the same event Youth and Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili announced that the long awaited national action plan on youth empowerment and employment will soon be launched.

He said the development process of the plan has already been completed and will soon be launched for implementation by the government.

He also appealed to stakeholders to start mainstreaming youths in all their programs as doing so will help the country achieve greater youth empowerment and integration of in national development.

And speaking earlier, this year’s youth representative Susan Chibwe who is a student at Kalingalinga Youth Resource Centre challenged government to increase funding for the youth empowerment fund so as to allow more youths access the funds to empower themselves.

She also called on government to scale up sexual reproductive health education as ignorance in the reproductive health has led to costly mistakes by youths in the country.

This year’s theme is Zambia at 50: promoting youth mainstreaming for sustainable national development.

  1. Let the Bantustan leader and his tribal and regional politics keep out of public place to stop him from contaminating the youths

    • Gen,
as seen from your primitive and retrogressive comment you are determined to destroy Zambia through supporting backward governments. We moved from UNIP,MMD and now we must move out of PF to…..! We cant keep PF longer than now. We have suffered already enough. Any leader start respect from his home land. Your language is exhumed from one of your useless leaders.

    • @ janza
There nothing wrong with UPND as a political entity, but its indisputable that there is certainly everything wrong with its leadership and denying this incontrovertible fact will not get UPND out of its current quandary.

UPND in its current form with its current leadership, lacking in national agenda, character and with its embellished ego-trip cannot and will not attract new membership to move it forward.

consequently, UPND cant win the hearts and minds of the people unless and until it reforms
Reform and stop being a Bantustan party or you perish politically

    • Mozungu Opusa is currently making serious arrangements to run away to Scotland once Sata is out of power. For he is busy amassing as much wealth as he can with Sata so that when that time comes he will simply run away for fear of being thrown in jail together with Sata.

We are watching your movements closely.

    • UPND is a small regional party headed and directed by an individual who has little or no understanding about organization. Any public statement coming from this party is always about trying to impress their members or going against the majority Zambians.
They also to have problem with anything to do with bemba people and one wonders where they will get the much needed votes to rule the country . Is UPND a party of arrogant people who ignore to realign themselves with the current settings and needs of the Zambian people or they are simply too dull to understand that they have to strategically realign themselves with the prevailing political ,social economic conditions to become relevant to the Zambian electorate.

    • If Guy Scott is from any part of Zambia can someone show me his village? This faggot must go back to Europe where he belongs, by the way how would such a danderhead have faired in British or Scotish Parliament, MUZUNGU OPUSA!

    • Dr Scott who represented republican president Micheal Sata at the freedom statue during the Youth Day Celebrations today……

This in itself shows how low the president think of the youths in this country. He, himself does not show at the ceremony and expects others to go. Chances are that he still thinks of being in opposition therefore he cannot attend the function as was the case when he was in opposition. Guy Scott work on the president so he can attend in person and not delegating all the time. This was the case for Women’s day too, right?

    • @billy oneya ,you are not only a tribalist but a racialist too! like your leader-s….shame on you. get a life and make sure its a 21st century life where a black man is the president of the USA.

    • From the blogs by Gen, Luapula and Kudos, it is patently clear that they postulate that leadership in Zambia belongs exclusively to the Bembas. Therefore, I call on the Easterners, Westerners, NorthWest, Central and South to ARISE in unity and say NO to Bemba domination. Now is the time and We are the People. This is not about HH (I am not Tonga). Let’s emancipate ourselves and be free like the Tongas who dont give a hoot to corrupt governments.

  2. Spot on Sikote ! True the opposition wants to cover up their flaws by hiding under the fight/push for the release of the new constitution. They are a bunch of jokers/losers led by their chief alarmist Hakaivotela Humwine(HH).

    • Why did Sata shun the Youth Day, is he Independent now? Sata is independent from people. Who will attend his funeral if not the youth, because Chiefs are no longer related to that Sata.

  3. Hopeless Vice President!
And this other guy with a demonic picture. His comments are useless, tribal and hateful.

  4. This old man ni opusa maningi and lacks wisdom. He is always politicking every time. And where was his boss? He wud rather attend a wedding than tell youths abt the jobs he promised. He cant face us now olo kapena yababa matenda.

  5. With all due respect Mr. Scott, are you expecting the youth to match on empty stomachs and bare-footed? Where are the jobs your party promised the youth?

  6. Mocking from Scott is to be expected. Instead, shouldn’t the headline read: “President not seen at Youth Day; Speech read by VP”?

….or is that also to be expected?

  7. Some comments or contributions from people even abroad are left to be admired. The jobs you are talking about are not going to be created only by the govt for every youth. Employment can be created even by the youth themselves. There is funds for youth empowerment , private sector and parastatal. Even in the might USA , Britain and other developed countries jobs are difficult to find. The mentality of thinking your govt will create 7million jobs in two years even five years is too much asking. In 20 yrs hardly many jobs whether informal or formal created despite having more foreign investment . MMD never supported the youth and today can MMD stand on the mountain and speak with their free mind? The two parties MMD and UPND talking about the constitution is like people have forgotten.

  8. UPND went to bed with MMD and made a lot of allowances for the failed constitution. In the hour of voting absconded and MMD was left alone. For them to champion is like a bush product coming to educate a well sounded knowledge person. Whenever hurry hyena see anything that he feels will gain a mileage he advocates hate, unruly behaviour, envy and anarchy . Surely this guy one day will regret when the fruits of his behaviour become a reality. The want a new constitution and on the other side want more jobs . They do want to borrow money to spear head the infrastructure, road building. You can’t have both hand one in the mouth and another sitting on. Cheap politics will not develop Zambia .

  9. No sensible youth will like to match with the unpredictable Panga Family youths who are in the habit of hacking each other pangas/ machetes without any cause. Sefute nikwilisunga wamwine.Viva opposition youths chababa ati simunayende kuma marching yabupuba.

  10. Hon. Munkombwe and many others still in the civil service at ages 65 years and above surely need to retire and create space for younger people 55 years and below and invest what they have accumulated over the 50 years they have been working to create jobs for younger people.

Embrace younger leaders as they have done in the developed countries. Those of us who were born when these people were already working in government have reached 55 and retired and they are now working with our children and grandchildren!!! Hey.

  11. What is the solution for the stand off. Evaluation; what has been achieved so far? what effect has the stand off on the economy or running of GRZ? Who has decampained himself? cause and effect!

  12. The statements uttered by Guy Scott are full of sarcasm (insults) to all Zambians, including PF members.

Guy Scott is, in essence merely embarrassing the British Govt. Prime Minister David Cameron is praying hard that his national Guy Scott, who seems to be endowed with the genes possessed by members of Bin Laden’s terrorist group Al Qaeda, does not mutate to work against humanity on the world scale.

David Cameron’s prayer – as detailed to the British High Commission in Lusaka – is to restrict Guy Scott operations within the bounds of Zambia and Zimbabwe to punish these Africans for breaking off from British colonial ties . However, Guy Scott’s mission ends in 2016.

  13. Since when did the Youth Day celebrations, women’s Day celebrations or for that matter Independence day celebrations become partisan? These are commemorative celebrations and SHOULD NOT, CAN NOT, be tied to any political party. These so called leaders should stop and think, what are they doing to the minds of the young and upcoming citizens in terms of teaching them and inculcating into their brains a sense of unity. These celebrations are meant for reflection and mapping out the way forward, not for parties to brag about. Useless leaders, both ruling and opposition parties.

  14. We also need OLD PEOPLES DAY where we shall talk about old people being innovative and leave the positions to youths

    • Why did HH and his MPs refuse to vote for RB constitution. At least we would have had something much better since Sata wont give us anything. HH your greed is what has landed us in this mess.

  15. Where are the jobs for the youths you dull PF. No wonder an MP called this government as a Chimbwi No plan Government. CNP G. Parading youths while you stand with round necks like HIPPOS. You should be ashamed of yourselves. intelligent youths cant be used by selfish politicians.

  16. Time will tell when some of these guys shall feel the shame of failing out of the race in parliament. We know who they are and more over if Sata steps out by 2016 there is no one capable to stand under PF ticket as president.
