Political activist Dante Saunders says people should get used to the idea that ” we have lost everything” and that the PF government will not give them the constitution.
Mr Saunders observes that the continued shifting of “goal posts” is testament that the PF has never been serious with constitution making process and that Zambians should now get used to the idea that the process has been lost.
“2 years ago I said PF was not going to be in a position to give the people a new constitution and my view has never changed ever since. This government is not prepared to give the people the constitution. You have been hearing about the constitution being lost and found and so on and so on to me this is turbo, I think people we must get used to the idea that we have lost everything,” Mr Saunders said.
And Mr Saunders has called on the Anti Corruption Commission ACC to investigate the people involved in constitution making process for corruption.
“I was asking even the ACC that if they want cooperation from the people that they should look at the 14billion that was spent on the technical committee. If your government, if a group of people can spend so much money and knowing quiet well that they are not prepared to finish of the project like the technical committee drafting the constitution, you spend 14billion and you are not prepared to release it that to me is corruption,” he said.
And on the constitution indaba Mr Saunders said, ” firstly they used a wrong institution, people are not very confident about SACCORD, to organize a meeting through SACCORD you don’t even have an agenda what are you asking for? Are you just inviting people for lunch?”
And asked if he was insinuating that government had a hand in organizing the meeting Mr. Saunders replied in the affirmative saying; ” absolutely, absolutely there is no question about it.”

The constitution is not a partisan document for saunders and his UPND to take it like it belongs to them.
The trouble with the entire UPND is that they lack maturity, strategy and political construct even in their simplest of demands.
PF voluntarily promised to deliver a new constitution and no amount of stupid1ty will move them an inch off course just to satisfy the parochial views and demands of a moribund UPND and its mummified leaders like saunders.
The constitution will be delivered no doubt, but not on the UPND timetable or illogical demands

The fact is no political party in govt the world over has been able to deliver on all its campaign promises.
The reality is PF is trying to fulfill most of the promises and the constitution is one such promise that will be delivered, no doubt!!
I am not against HH as a human being but his lack of maturity, objectivity, misinformation, unbridled tribalism and ethnocentrism etc….

even without a new constitution pf is going no where. to start with, there is no need for an external pressure because the moment sata departs, the party will implored and also depart. with or without new constitution 2016 will see a new group of leaders in govt. so bwana saunders worry not
PF has never done anything decent since coming to power. Left to their own devious nature they won’t deliver a constitution.Only the people of Zambia can force their hand….rather only if the people of God pray and seek Gods face,maybe our land will be delivered form PF.

I absolutely agree with you that Saunders supported PF those days. He is not the only one who campaigned for PF, many are them.
Nevertheless, Saunders has put together words and actions of specifying the failures’ of PF to deliver what what they promised the people of Zambia, more money in their pockets and not no money at all, thus was in 90 days.
In addition, Saunders has shifted goals because he had hope in PF like many others. He is now amazed with what he supported and this should be his repentance. His actions are enough for me, especially what he has said, are facts, whether he historically voted PF.
Does it take an apology for one to change parties? Applaud Saunders action, he long realized the wrongs, so lets move forward. Constitution for the people, period.

Saunders is a frustrated and bitter character because PF did not award him a political appointment after campaigning for the party. Every rant from him is derived from that.
What is important is that he is talking facts and constructive. Whether it is out of bitterness is least of our worries. Sata used to talk the language we wanted and we voted for him but he has betrayed us. Saunders talks sense.

Come on, who is saying the current President should step aside? Mr Sata’s term of office is 5 years. No dispute about that. We know you like diverting attention from the constitution issue. It is very clear that the PF is not interested but what Mr Saunders is saying is very clear to any right thinking person. You do not spend huge amounts and then turn round and say you do not wish to finish the project!!! That is the issue here and not about Mr Sata not continuing. In a country where people rule this government would not even have attempted to stall the constitution. Only crooks can condemn Mr Saunders for stating the obvious.

The way I see right things right now, opposition parties are well advised to go flat out to sell their manifestos. I know PF has made it difficult for them to go out but this is a fight in futility on the side of PF. PF is finished as a party and the party will not win again in the life of Zambia. Sata and his minions know this, hence their PF will continue to act as a spoiler in the thick of things. The competition as I see it will be between UPND and MMD. MMD therefore will need to move quickly to reorganize itself. The wrangles in the party at present are not doing them any favors. UPND on the hand needs to penetrate Luapula, Northen and Muchinga.
