UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema has advised President Michael Sata to seriously consider the proposal to hold an interparty dialogue meeting with opposition leaders on the constitution.
Mr. Hichilema says this is especially that as Head of State, President Sata has an obligation to the Zambian people to deliver a new constitution.
He says by not taking the opportunity to meet with the opposition political party leaders to discuss the issue of the constitution, President Sata will be demonstrating that he is a wrong person to hold the highest office in the land.
Mr Hichilema has told Qfm News in a telephone interview that by so doing, President Sata will also be indicating to the Zambian people that he does not want to continue being the country’s Head of State.
The UPND leader states that President Sata should also bear in mind that the holding of a meeting of political leaders is long overdue and should not be delayed any further.
Mr Hishilema says failure by the President to meet with opposition leaders over the constitution should be reason enough for the people of Zambia to vote the Patriotic Front out of office in 2016.
He says this is because the issue of the constitution is not for the opposition alone but a matter of national interest.

If Sata upholds and defends the constitution, he would have demonstrated his desire to continue to lead the nation.

The constitution making process that you thought you can champion as not held results. Now you call Sata to sit down and dialogue? You failed to send your people to attend the constitution Indaba where you would have made a good contribution and ask for senior level meeting as you have achieved a foundation.
