UPND Deputy Secretary General, Kuchunga Simusamba announced that the campaign rallies which were suspended due to the rainy season will start with the one to be held in Mandevu Constituency at Mutambe grounds in Lusaka on 8th June 2014.

Mr. Simusamba revealed that police have already been notified of party’s intentions to hold rallies countrywide till the next rainy season.

“Yes we are embarking on campaign rallies and continued party mobilisation in all parts of the country before the commencement of another rain season. We want to interact with our old and new members.

We also want to tell Zambians what UPND will do when in office in 2016 as they have high expectations,” Mr. Simusamba disclosed.

He added that he does not expect professional law enforcement agencies in various parts of the country to give his party any problems regarding holding meetings.

“I know in the past there may have been some misunderstanding regarding the implementation of the archaic Public Order Act. But I think Police officers now know that according to the law, we just merely inform them and not seek for permission. I am sure they will come to protect all peace-loving Zambians that we are sure will come in large numbers for our meetings,” he said.

“We know someone correctly called his MPs useless, ministers useless and vupuba (fools) and we hear now he wants to extent the same by calling our men and women in uniform as shabby looking. We don’t agree with that. For us we are dealing with smart, beautiful and handsome men and women in uniform and so we don’t expect trouble from them. In fact, we look forward to making them even more smarter after 2016,” Simusamba said.

Mr. Simusamba said holding of peaceful meetings was not only a democratic right, but also constitutionally guarantee.
He added that UPND was a very peaceful party that respects the country’s laws and that he does not expect disturbances from anyone during the meetings.

“We have had peaceful and very successful meetings in the past, and we now invite all well-meaning Zambians that want to hear our message for the country to turn-up in numbers,” he said.

He also requested for contributions from any well-meaning Zambians towards the successful mobilisation and holding of these meetings.

  1. Zambia police, let them go ahead with their planned rallies by granting upnd with permits and space to move around so that they exhaust energy.zambians will chose ea the best party in 2016.

    • Umwaume…

Please,, please try to understand. The Public Order Act does not give powers to the police grant permission but to be informed so that they can plan. Please, we refuse to be misled by people like you. Your love for archaic laws is mind boggling. Away with Stone Age thinking. Keep ignorance to yourself.

  2. Yessss!!!! Way to go. 2016 is very near. Do it while some are busy appearing before courts on very silly grounds and others tearing each other apart.

  3. sontwe wait for 2016 you goin to commit sucide and zambia police give them the permit so that they go around and we ar goin to see how smart thy are.

    • Jacob Zuma who was condemned left right and center won the election with a landslide victory. You know people are seeing what Sata is doing. And the chances are that 80% Sata will win

  4. If UPND doesn’t win 2016 elections they should fold their political tent and fade away. Sata has campaigned so heavily for them they have no excuse to under-perform again. Bembaland is ripe for vote harvesting. PF will be taught a cruel lesson in this region. No one in this area wants scoundrels to govern them ever again. So go get this vote.

  5. All a long you have been doing campaigns. The only reason you do not win is because UPND was declared a tribal party and people like Sakwiba, Chisanga, Sichinga, Mtonga etc left. Nothing will make the people to change their minds especially in Lusaka, Copperbelt, Northern, Luapula, Muchinga, Eastern where they are seeing developmental projects and praising.

  6. UPND please go ahead and start campaigning. You are late already the cartel started campaigning a long time. However, it is good that you have realized. I am not your supporter but you have a right to start campaigning. You also have a right to form the next Govt. We need vibrant plural politics in Zambia so that only the sober minds can govern our country.

  7. the news is welcome to all parts of the country in lusaka we are highly embarrassed we dont want madness come to all parts of zambia everywhere upnd is being awaited come general election as they seem to be more nearer viva upnd viva hh we are ready for change

  8. UPND will never form a government in Zambia for the simple reason that, basically, they are a party of Tongas, by Tongas, for Tongas.

    • You must be in Zaire and not DRC where Ukwa comes from. Go guys while they are nursing patients and their SG is waiting for ARVS from UTH

  9. change your inexperienced president and we might join you in 2085,meanwhile we have seen that pf are working bane!

  10. i am not a upnd member, but that is very welcome news to excercise our democracy in zambia; as for the people that say upnd is a tonga party, lol you will be surprised, and i have never heard hichilema utter a tribal thing only pf say it so go ahead upnd and may God be with you;

  11. indeed you have a costitutional right to do that.any partyb of substance would begin to sell it self. am non partisan but i like progressive politics and debates that give hope to citiznry

  12. Wantashi you are in USA and possibly you do not hail from Northern or Muchinga provinces. The issue with Mwene Lubemba has no impact on PF whatsoever. This is what you misinform others who have no prior knowledge about the whole issue.
There are a lot of thing at play. Kasama is a metropolitan town possibly more people who are not even Bembas. The sale of Land at Kasama airport, Lualuo, Mutale mwamba, Chinje chiluya, Kasama, Mukandawa and milima villages is possibly the biggest issue that has made many people even to lean more towards the govt and PF. If Kasama is easy, why is GBM taking the PF to court? UPND can go to Kasama, Kaputa or Mporokoso the results will be even less than 2011 because MMD was known unlike UPND. Let say Lusaka UPND has failed to penetrate. CB/ Luapula worse.

  13. HH please give me the campaign money for a drink, instead of wasting it on a national tour…..you will never win the presidency! The problem is HH is surrounded by people who are sucking him and want to keep their salaries by telling him lies that he can win.

The only time UPND will ever win a presidential election is when it gets rid of HH! HH is a hardcore tribalist.
