Police in the Copperbelt on Friday tried to effect an arrest on MMD president Nevers Mumba who was in the province to mobilize the party.
MMD president Nevers Mumba’s special assistant Raphael Nakachinga said the police rushed to Masait where the president had made a stop over to witness a defection of over 50 cadres from the ruling Patriotic Front and opposition United Party for National Development UPND.
Mr. Nakachinga said the police who were in full riot gear arrived in three land cruisers arrived shortly after the president had left for Lusaka and questioned party officials on the whereabouts of the opposition leader.
“The police decided to mobilize themselves to effect an arrest on Dr. Mumba for just stopping on the road side and greet party members who where receiving defectors from PF and UPND.
The area member of parliament Masait took advantage of the president’s presence in the Copperbelt and asked him to receive the defectors but surprisingly the police arrived as were living and started questioning our officials on the whereabouts of Dr. Mumba,” Mr. Nakachinda said.
He further explained that the police came in three land cruisers and seeming ready to pounce on the MMD leader who did not spend much time at the meeting as he was just passing through due to the request from area MP.
Thank you Nevers Mumba. I nearly wet myself laughing while reading this story!
Yes – he did a Scarlet Pimpernel on the cops! Hilarious!
These police are just making Pastor Mumbwe more famous.High time they started ignoring him.
Saulosi, the Sewer Mouthed hired gun.Your language is deplorable and just shows how much personal hatred you have towards Dr Mumba.Anyway your comments won’t stop what God has for Zambia to happen.I just pit you, because you’re treading on a dangerous ground by using that vulgar language on a man of God who has done you no harm,he does not even know you.You should repent.
@Saulosi, yes you better tell them to stop making Pastor more famous than Charles Michael.
I guess the starting point for Zambia is to re-orient our priorities and cultivate a culture of constructive thinking. Most of the things keep the nation busy are too irrelevant and counter productive. The media should now slow down, turn the direction around by sourcing for news from individuals that inspire, challenge and offer sound leadership for the nation and for young people. It is tiring to read these endless insults and disagreements all the time. Most of the people in higher positions of responsibility have no element of accountability – no direction. Young people should step forward and take over the country before all is lost – there is no direction from the elders in government – we need to identify elders such Prof.Hansungule to mentor the young
Henry, the problem with your proposal of Prof.Hansungule is that these pipo, they run away from local battles in the name of green pastures. They just write articles from the diaspora waiting for things to improve.Look at what happened to Clive Chirwa, away for 20yrs,and out of reach of current realities in the country.Tell him to come and write those articles locally and offer advice.
That is why I cannot work in any security and defense wing. There you stop using your brain, you stop reasoning, you suspend your thinking. All you do is follow orders no matter how unreasonable they are, even if the orders are coming from a F.ool as along as that F.ool is above you in command you must follow, even if you know that the orders are f.oolish and childish. In short, you sacrifice your intellect!!
I agree with you and i have never understood why one would go to school only to surrender your brains to a corrupt and irresponsible person. It pains to see some of my friends towing these childish lines. The behavoiur of most security people in Africa scares me, they have neglected any amount of reason, they can even kill thier children in the name of orders
True. Worse, to get orders from a senile president, one has to have all their senses, brains dried up and frozen and packed somewhere safe. What’s frightening is: let’s say the president declared war on all our neighbours, I believe he could do this, would these officers obey this order?
@Unreasonable, @Henry & @Wantanshi, spot on.
A repressive and police state has had a short life everywhere in the world and the pepetrators have been consigned to a sorry pile in history. This is one is no exception. The writing is on the wall!!
Imwe’ ba President “Charlie Kays” Please STOP harassing Citizens, & opposition leaders.
You are supposed to be a Democrat, & not so long ago when in opposition, You complained bitterly when M.M.D treated You this way, & we did sympathise with You President Charlie Kays!
Blackbull,I believe you can see now that your comment on why the Police did to arrest Dr Mumba at Chisokene is not true. Here in Masaiti they attempted to arrest him.
The sad situation now is that the Zambia Police(ZP) now has been infiltrated with Peoples’s Fault(PF) cadres.Zambia Shall Be Saved from these criminals. With God nothing is impossible.
@ Bo Sipopas you have made my day. So PF stands for People’s Fault.. For sure it was our fault to have them in power…Lol
mulikita iam shocked by these pf cadres in police uniform one wanders whether they understand the meaning of democracy . this is the reason why well meaning zambians are demanding for a pipo driven consititution and not the animal one i think we have a duty as citizens to inform the rest of zambians to join forces to release the new consititution before 2016 elections otherwise zambia democracy will be doomed viva the opposition parties viva zambia god bless all
Blackbull, thanks,I like your response now.So you see now that, the PF cadres or PF Police comfront the Opposition Leaders not necessarily that they’re popular, but because it’s due to lack of understanding democracy.PF Cadres can attack anything, even a dog if it wore a PF or opposition regalia.
Charlie Kays lipolo.
Declaring Psalm 91 and the blood of Jesus Christ over Dr Mumba, family, New MMD and Zambia. No weapon formed shall prosper.
I have tried to express this view here before that the oppressive institutions in Zambia are not really under the control of the party in Govt. but quickly align and finds favour with a political party once it is government. The institutions am talking about include police, media houses, judiciary, ACC, ZRA ad infinitum. The weakness of the governing party is in that it is unable to deal with these culprit institutions because they are on ‘their side’ as long as they remain in government!
If you are not in sync yet with what am saying, watch the time when a new political party is in power in 2016 and that includes UPND. They will suddenly forget that the police were harassing them while in opposition and likewise buy into their tricks. THAT is where the problem is. How to deal with…
actually to the contrary, these policemen are actually smart. just put yourselves in there shoes and you will see that they are also not happy with the way things are going but being under pressure from their b****y superiors have to device smart ways of disobeying the unlawful orders:
1. Pre-warn and leak information to the potential victim, in this case Nevers,,,, something like “M’dala just make sure you spend a very short time doing what you have to do”
2. Arrive late thereby ensuring there is no chance of apprehending your victim
Our police are smarter than what most of us think. Thats all I can say
@webcam, Sssshhhh!! I figured the same move too by the Officers, because I am sure behind those uniforms, they are as disgusted as any well meaning Zambian. Now, you webcam and I have created a problem for theses Officers by letting the cat out of a well guarded bag. Lets hope our comments go unnoticed by the ‘People’s Fault’ – PF – powers that be.
The pf police sent to destabilise the opposition, frm an observation point of view appear skin in flabby uniform look hungry and angry with ugly faces not inspiring at all!
ba mumba are u still chasing pierced clitoris from canada
DR MUMBA AND THE NEW MMD, STAY FOCUSED NOW THAT THE OLD GUARD HAVE REMOVED THEIR SHACKLES FROM YOU.
PLEASE NOW THAT YOU HAVE A TEAM THAT IS IN FULL SUPPORT OF YOUR LEADERSHIP, MOVE FOWARD, STAY FOCUSED AND CONTINUED ELLUDING THESE DULL POLICE. THEY TRIED TO ARREST YOU IN KASAMA WHEN THEY HEARD YOUR VOICE ON RADIO MANO, BUT YOU HAD ALREADY LEFT BECAUSE YOU MOVE LIKE THE WIND.
PLEASE TEACH OTHER OPPOSITION LEADERS TO BE SMART IN THEIR MOVEMENTS NOT TO JUST MOVE ANYHOW BECAUSE WE ARE FACING A VICIOUS REGIME.
