Kabwata Constituency aspiring candidate Clement Tembo says he is not being sponsored by political enemies of incumbent Given Lubinda.

Featuring on the Hot Seat radio programme on Hot FM on Thursday, Mr Tembo clarified that reports suggesting that he is a sponsored candidate are baseless.

“I do sympathise with the political troubles of my big brother Given Lubinda but I wish to state that I have nothing to do with his political misfortunes. I have not been sponsored by anyone to run for Kabwata seat. I’m my own man and motivated to serve the people of Kabwata,” Mr Tembo said.

Mr Tembo said his stance is to ensure that the people of Kabwata fully participate in determining the development course of their area.

“Some people think Kabwata is just Chilumbulu and Burma Roads but I can tell you that people in places like Mapuloti and Jack are suffering. They don’t see their MP there and they have nowhere to cry to for help. I want to work with the local people to push for their own development.”

Mr Tembo said time for young politicians to rise and take charge of Zambia’s development has come.

“We cannot continue staying on the sidelines. Time is now to fully participate. As young people, we have the ideas and the energy and the zeal to change this country. Why should my brothers and sisters go without water in some parts of Kabwata when there has been an MP who has served for 13 years? Surely something must change.”

Mr Tembo said the role of an MP is to initiate development for the local people and fully participate in the execution of development programmes.

“An MP should not wash his or her hands off and say clearing of garbage for instance is the role of the central government. Our new type of leadership requires that we are fully engaged with the people. When the people of Kabwata cry, I cry with them and together we find solutions to the challenges,” Mr Tembo said.

He said by 2016, he would analysed the various political parties that would be participating and he will pick a ticket on which to stand.

“Let us cross the bridge when we get there. For now I have just introduced myself to the people of Kabwata and I have not even started campaigning yet,” Mr Tembo said.

Several callers to the live programme encouraged Mr Tembo to continue offering himself up for leadership saying his message is inspiring to the youths of Zambia.

Others cautioned him to stick to his messages on development of Kabwata and desist from attacking Mr Lubinda adding that he has a strong chance of becoming Kabwata MP in 2016.

    • Matero has MP now. Need 3 three more, and Tembo is one of them. But I don’t like Lusaka, wish he went to Mangango.

    • But Tembo you do not have to be an MP to do what you are doing, you can do it as a citizen. My neighbours and i clean our street sometimes ,it does not mean,we have to replace our MP or Mayor Boris Johnson.
Its your social responsibility to clean your areas ,So that you dont live in filth.

  2. Its time up for Lubinda. He has been there long enough and we appreciate what he has done. A new broom will sweep better. Kabwata is not Lubinda’s personal to hold constituency and he should not be defending it. Nako ichaile!

  3. Mr Tembo Kabwata constituency is not just Mapuloti and Jack….young man u have just been over inspired by Given Lubinda. Am sorry, he is going to continue to inspire you.

  4. Mayo Mpapa, naine nkakupapa!!!!! Kale fyapwa ifyamuyayaya! Mushota, you have no idea how sad it makes me feel that a fellow young person will stand and shoot down our fellow young who has left the stands and offered himself for leadership, all he wants is to show u and I that we can also participate in the leadership of our country, this is a national call, we can save Zambia if we the young stand up and speak one language and get the job done! Desist from being usd as a tool of distruction, make up your own mind and chose right from wrong, chose to participate than to stay in the stands and watch as your country is being dragged to the ground by old folks! Isukeni umutwe!!!!! Mayo Mpapa, naine nkakupapa, when will u papa them if you allow them to papa you for muyayaya?…. Go Tembo Go

  5. Am so sad and sickenned by your comments Mushota and Sata, how do we foster youth leadership with attitudes such as yours? Have you sat down to think and analise why Tembo has stood up proud and tall and ofcourse brave enough to challeng your persived giant in politics? The time is now, Mayo Mpapa naine nkakupapa, shibukeni mwensepela shinandi, this is how it all starts, it’s a national revolution, let’s call for young leadership! Go Tembo Go

  7. The kind of thinking shown by Mushota and Sata is not for this generation where young leaders are emerging, Mayo Mpapa, naine Nkakupapa is the way to go PERIOD!!!! Go Tembo GO!!!!!!

    • Ithink you do not know the meaning of “MAYO MPAPA NAINE NKAKUPAPA” you are so wrong,it can not be used in this context

  8. Mushota and Sata’s comments are both Rhetoric and dull, honestly speaking, thinking that Hon Lubinda can not be unseated is really shallow, your type is not meant for this generation where the young are emerging as leaders! Mayo mpapa naine nkakupapa is the way to go!!!! Go TEMBO Go!!!!

  9. The stern advice that you refrain from attacking Mr Lubinda is a good one. Take it, and hone up your mandate for Kabwata and make sure you present and argue for it before your potential voters. Stay away from ageist remarks and keep it out of your campaign.

And remember to respect an old timer….they know all the little corners….!

    Good Luck

  10. You look and sound like a smart chap.

  11. Ba Clement, before considering public office can you first tell your target electorates in Kabwata why your former employer ( a financial institution) fired you? Or is it that you’ve gone into politics because its a ”dirty game” for poeple who are not entirely clean like yourself?. Dont throw stones if you live in a glass house.

  12. Is Rev Ronnie Shikapasha standing 2016? If Youths are leaders of tomorrow, then the Youths are not yet born. Look at the new PF Mangango MP. if he is 78 years old now, come 2016 he will be 80 years. Surely PF will adopt him in 2016!! . Just take a look at the ages of our MPs in our NA. Or the blame is on us the voters

  13. Youngman you are very handsome, i don’t know how many woman you will slaughter when you become MP , so i suggest u become bit ugly by ka small panel beating on your face say loosing two front teeth, and left side ka diprosal . Lubinda is not a factor in 2016 because he will be busy campaining for presidency. But take my advise be ugly like the new mangango MP

  14. Everybody’s right to stand for elections. Keep at it but no insults on Lubinda! Its called experience is the best teacher.
